  1. we would be mad not to. It's one of the few upsides from this disastrous year. Our pick 2 is almost a high pick 1. Should get us something decent at the draft and we need some quality draftees. My offer to Freo would be this years third or next years second. If not PSD.
  2. Good points . Another way is looking at our performances against the various non finalists. Other than Tom Mac and his outing against Freo(?) it's hard to recall any player "ripping" it apart as you would expect a better player to do against the lesser teams. Our few wins were mainly "team performances" which while gratifying don't help individual ranking
  3. Freo are predictable and deserve to be dealt with accordingly.
  4. wouldn't we all like to know the answer to that question. MFCSS tells us that those six weeks or so of 2018 was as good as it's going to get but forever hopeful because if he doesn't fire in 2020 it's hard to see us going far.
  5. and doesn't get reported in round 1 let alone the practice match.
  6. Would be interesting to see how he ranked the coach? C or C- is my ranking
  7. Wood signed a four-year contract with the Roos in 2016, estimated to be in the range of $450-500,000 a season, which will expire at the end of 2020.Aug 15, 2019 https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-08-15/roos-future-uncertain-could-be-up-for-endofyear-trade
  8. Showed in 2018 that he has an excellent football brain. Something few in our team seem to readily exhibit. Needs to regain his ability to find space and then deliver to advantage. His Casey form in 2019 was rather low which to say the least is worrying. I say that because most players look good in a winning team and thus at AFL level the whole team struggled but Casey had a reasonable season and one might have expected better. I don't think the seemingly unstated policy of resting players after dropping them from the senior team did him any favours either.
  9. Being reported that Essendon may be interested in Mason Cox from the Pies. Opens up the possibility of trade of Weideman to the Pies. Now that would be a hard one to value.
  10. must say I wondered the same thing but at the very least it gave some context to what he will be asking for and one can assume that it is in the ballpark of what the Blues are offering.
  11. didn't a few teams isolate him and he lost out badly in his first few matches. For this trade to make sense given the picks traded and his salary he needs to deliver big in 2020
  12. That's not right when you are one of the also rans such as ourselves, Bulldogs Saints etc. It's all about giving your supporters both a competitive team and some hope. Whatever you may say North have done that very well over the last twenty odd years. I think most of us on this board would be quite happy to have North's record rather than our own
  13. North aren't worried about winning a flag. (would be nice to have though).Their aim is to remain relevant and push for the 5-10 position. You have to admit they do a good job at it.
  14. I was there that day. His job was to run with the likes of Cousins and Kerr take the handball and dish it back to them as they streamed down the field. He did his job perfectly
  15. does raise a significant salary cap issue including pay relativity for the likes of Brayshaw, Oliver and Petracca. He's no superstar this guy
  16. North are reported to be offering Papley 800k plus per season https://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/afl-trade-wrap-swans-star-given-monster-offer-daniher-wants-to-be-at-swans/news-story/8f232007cc6fd48a1a3ba1ab0a27a7f4
  17. they're from years ago. (2016 !!) Boy someone must have nothing to do to have noticed that exchange
  18. hopefully he delivers but 4 years helps me understand why other clubs weren't interested. It's a long contract if he is NQR. Good luck to him. The salary at around 600k puts him objectively in the top 30% of the list which is around our top 14 players so it's not high if he delivers. Four years ?
  19. Take your point but as I understand the award the votes by the coaches are heavily weighted to team contribution, adherence to gameplan etc. If Viney's efforts were so valued by the coaches it suggests to me that they set the wrong KPI's for him.
  20. and I'll raise you May for pick 6
  21. we always cave... It's the Melbourne way and Goodwin is desperate
  22. just wouldn't fit in at Melbourne with those attributes
  23. hope not... it means we caved. Why doesn't that surprise me
  24. along with Oliver handballing to someone's feet and Viney getting caught with the ball it does say something about the coaching staff and their Band F voting. A very underwhelming performance in a totally underwhelming year. I hope we get to rate Goodwin in this activity
  25. Would be surprised if he stays at Collingwood simply because he ranks behind De Goey and Stephenson and maybe Mihochek in the forward area. When Cox returns that's another place up forward gone. Oh well back to the drawing board
