The stand alone clubs will always have better across the board talent. The AFL aligned clubs make up for it with their AFL listed players but when you have injuries at the MFC level it becomes tough.

Not much at Casey as you would expect after the thumping they took. Preuss had a decent game but nowhere near as dominant as last week. Casey smalls need to learn how to play to Preuss' contested marking in the forward line. On at least two occasions near me while he didn't take the mark his height advantage allowed him to put the ball anywhere to advantage but no Melbourne/Casey player in the right position.

out of interest why do you think that? Petty's game last week was on the better side of okay and they certainly aren't like for like.

Cannot understand the Preuss non selection. His game last week was almost outstanding. If he wasn't selected he should be at Casey building up his tank and perfecting his forward role. Taking him as an emergency is just strange. Weidman's non appearance for Casey along with Spargo is equally perplexing. With the two injuries at the senior level last week to Melksham and Hibberd the team structure is becoming non existent.

this problem with the gameplan has been around since its inception. One that went against the grain was that magnificent win against Hawthorn in last year's final mainly due to Gunston's inaccuracy.

that is correct apparently for a free agent it just goes into the salary cap irrespective of whether it is actually paid or not. The rationale is that free agency involves compensatory picks so the whole deal must be honoured. ( Sounds strange I know). For a traded player they are treated as any other contracted player. If they retire due to career ending illness the payout goes into the salary cap for the year in which paid. If however the illness is not career ending it is a negotiation between the player and the club. Tippet did not get his full payout for example... so it's a maximum rule and not a minimum rule.... just shows how ill thought out these rules were. A decent trial in other comps would have revealed the various quirks. It also underscores how far coaches will go to "game" the rules

Interesting that so much money is being poured into a stadium that is only used 8 odd times a year. You would think that someone would be insisting it be used more. BTW... Corio which includes the metropolis of Geelong is considered federal Labour's safest non metropolitan seat.

That one went well if I remember correctly. Luckily there have been so many huge losses by MFC that I am able to merge them into my collective forgetfulness. Would like Friday to be a night to remember but not counting on it.
