That's the big unknown. Is there someone willing to pay. Prices paid for niche sports (and that is what AFL is) are under pressure. Very few if any media companies are making a profit. If clubs want to make your idea work (playing each other twice) ideally you would reduce the number of teams to 12 with four in Melbourne, one in Geelong and one perhaps in Tasmania.

Close results aside that was an atrocious game. It was played on the boundary line. Ball was out maybe 60-70% of the time.
