  1. Any updates or info Lovely morning for footy
  2. Wouldn't it be wonderful if in five weeks time we are wondering how we can possibly fit Weid and B Brown into the team. To sleep..perchance to dream
  3. Other than draft picks who have gone (almost) straight into the senior team our development via Casey has been less than stellar. Is it any worse than other clubs? No idea. My traditional whinge is that we have such little luck with our 28 plus year olds going on. If you can get two or three of those who perform at a high level week in week out list balance is so much easier. Hopefully May breaks the mould
  4. struck me as a 6 v10 game. Pies dropped a few easy ones and Dogs not that impressive up forward after that first 5-10 minutes. Season wise probably a little more upside in the Pies... De Goey couldn't play that badly again.
  5. there is a retort that is so obvious it need not be stated
  6. Carlton played into the tigers hands and nearly won. Good on them but playing that way against Richmond you will lose four out of six. Not sure what style is required but the slow maul is pobably better.
  7. How the AFL allowed themselves to be gamed by the coaches is just a joke. Concussion... wait a minute .. what about a corky !
  8. the stand alones are often quite strong.... it's a bit of a lottery... five injuries to the AFL team and the VFL team starts to wobble
  9. definitely hoping for a big win by the Toiges.... couldn't stand a Blues team on the way up Draw between the dogs and the Pies Giants and Saints is the other one that interests me... Go the Orange
  10. On paper that team from last year looks as good as the one we are likely to field on Saturday
  11. the increase to 21/22 players were justified by injuries. Now we have an increase to 23. Why stop there. How about a panel of potential subs like soccer where you can have forwards, midfielders and even a reserve goalkeeper to choose from. After all a team should never be disadvantaged. Seriously though with the man on the mark rule and this one how many more untrialled changes are we going to see.
  12. perhaps we need the old MCG ring of steel brought back BBO.
  13. I'll live with that if it's a compulsory week off for the subbed player. The opportuntiy to game it otherwise is obvious
  14. Not thrilled... lovely day to sit in the sunshine and it's allocated level 1 undercover as best available in the AFL reserve. My usual seating for a game like this is half a stand to myself on level 3. Will I bother going... not sure
  15. Wow... it's great to be number 1 in something Memories of 2019 pre-season. ?
  16. If you want to download the ticket to your phone and thus avoid the need for internet on entry the app requires Google wallet. Just removes uncertainty if you hit a wifi blackspot taking a screen shot could be a decent work around but I'm sick of Ticketek and their processes.
  17. could someone explain why I have to download Google wallet to use the ticketek app which is the only way of presenting your phone ticket. Also what info does Google wallet rquire thanks
  18. sad but true. I often used my AFL membership to head along to a lesser game. Admittedly it is usually because one of the teams has a star player you want to watch. I'd be happy to go along and see Brisbane or WCE play the Bulldogs for example. (Hate the woof woof that goes on the scoreboard after a goal... nearly as bad as North's "zoom".)
  19. We should be marketing this game to the neutral supporter as an easy to enter game. Might put a few dollars in our coffers if we could get 10k or more of general admission.
  20. Will we see a gameplan that recognises a lack of goal kicking power from Goodwin. While not a great specatacle a score of 5.11 to 3:13 would be a good outcome. For once I would like to see an opposition fifty metre zone as packed as ours.
  21. the other tactic is that they just sit off our midfield and tackle the recipient who is often forced into a wayward handball. It happened repeatedly in the recent Bulldogs game. Brings back memories of Jamar... hardly ever lost the tap but rarely hit it to advantage. TBH I have given up on the ruck position and it just becomes an issue of whether the nominated ruck is useful in another capacity. Perhaps it's a position that will benefit from less rotations as midfielders get tired but who knows.
  22. Not what I meant... the club nominates its own player to go out. It's a bit like the sub rule in reverse in that you will nominate your 22nd best player whereas the subbed in player under the AFL rule will be the 23rd best player for the other side. It's not that much difference in outcome but it reduces the number of players required.
  23. agree but every time there's an issue we add another player. We only got to 22 because Sheedy complained about having one less on the bench. Now we effectively have 23 at a time when the salary caps are strained to their max You could nominate the player to be removed before the game to avoid argument.
  24. Lateral thinking but why not reduce both teams by one if there is a concussion. Won't happen but it evens up the teams and could make for a more interesting outcome.
