  1. LJ is a salary cap manager's nightmare. He projects the three worries: Go home factor A club prepared to pay overs to get him (Eagles) Hitting very good form about one year in advance of anticipation Hopefully the desire to play in a successful team is a counterbalance. His contract will also come up for renewal at a time (next year) when there is little certainty in future salary cap levels. Frankly a one year extension to end 2023 could be considered a win PS IMO Weid has nothing to do with Jackson... two very different players. One of Weid or TMac will go at season's end simply for salary cap reasons.
  2. another one bites the dust MFCSS on full alert Weid and Jackson are chalk and cheese
  3. the website said tickets at gate. If like previous seasons it's free for MFC members
  4. On a happier note a new member (Sandra) on the general board has asked if anyone has a knitting pattern for a demon's jumper for her dog. Thought it deserved mention Have my ticket for Sunday and will probably go to Casey on Saturday for my first bacon and egg roll fix of the year
  5. just announced that the latest infection case travelled home on the football train from the Geelong v Richmond game. You couldn't script it Victorian contact tracers are working with the AFL to track down hundreds of fans who attended the blockbuster clash between Richmond and Geelong last Friday and then travelled on the same train as a Wollert man who has tested positive to COVID-19. Health Minister Martin Foley said the two clubs were helping contact members and supporters who travelled to or from the game on the same train as the infected man. https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/no-new-coronavirus-cases-in-victoria-but-concerns-about-restaurant-patrons-20210512-p57r1i.html
  6. speaking of dreams it would be nice if the MCG is used as our gathering point should we win the big one this year. Casey or Gosch's paddock does not have quite the same allure
  7. not really level 4 is closed which means that is less than half full at best
  8. Fritsch's third quarter wasn't that great.
  9. The seating algorithm promotes crowding Amazing
  10. Seems outrageous but nothing about the AFL surprises me these days. If they did relocate to Tassie it wouldn't surprise if they also got a bundle of concessions including picks and zones
  11. I have been thinking.... Could it have been.... "the learnings"
  12. why is the AFL site showing a buy tickets link for every game except ours and the Eagles AFL members should have opened four hours ago PS.. Got in by going direct to Ticketek Only level 1 open air available system is a joke... level 4 closed again !!
  13. Mid season drop offs is the Melbourne way. I'm prepared for it.
  14. so that's more like 7 or 8 weeks. Presumably the week after QB is a bye so you wonder why?
  15. won't happen but it's not the dumbest idea. Many fowards have been sent back as part of the education process. Not sold on Petty and with Smith injured we are light on down there this season. More realistically I would consider playing Mitch Brown down back just as a little bit of insurance
  16. welcome Craig... follow BDA's advice and we all look forward to your contirbutions for many years to come
  17. agree but as you say we are now 20 plus years on when the media has the ability to multi stream both audio and video. Why should I be tied to buffoons that insist on describing what can be clearly seen. "stacks on the mill" "umpire calls for the ball" "chipping it around" the list is endless
  18. I said the same thing before the 1988 GF. I was home for dinner ?
  19. but where will we celebrate... surely that is the number 1 concern. Break down the barricades of the MCG is my suggestion. It's our spiritual home !!!
  20. It's a long season and Melbourne winters make the training and games cycle just that little tougher. Not time for resting anyone now but post bye game management for a few players will become important. I wonder if Gawn has just dialled back his ruck effort this season to get that edge around the grounds. If he has that is smart management. We are also likely to see more man on man tactics being used against us which tends to put more stress on the body.
  21. results this weekend have done us no favours really Brisbane looks well on its way to a win and the Eagles win keeps their top 4 hopes well and truly alive. Probably down to six teams for the top 4 now. At least we have a 4 game break on the ninth and tenth teams so the 8 is starting to look safe. If Dogs had lost today and given they play Port next week we could have had a real mini break on them
  22. o well that 2 game break was looking good for a while
  23. Noticed in the Gold Coast game that most if not all of the stadium was open and the crowd was naturally dispersed around the whole of the ground. Something the MCC could learn from
  24. phew........................
  25. we don't exactly spring out of the blocks these days
