What they're saying down at Lakeside Drive
Diamond_Jim replied to Queanbeyan Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Suspect some think he's not in love with Goodwin Dropped from the 2018 prelim Played out of position 2019 Dropped last week Money ?? -
Looking forward to a repeat of a Richmond like game from last night. Irrelevant game unless we lose. Had assumed it is a night game. Trade winds up north can be quite strong during the afternoon. Would hate to see a 4.11 score !!
-
Would not say no to a Freo win. Looking unlikely though
-
Much more pleasant than Darwin. Around 65%humidity and 23 at kick off is typical for this time of the year. It can be windy during the day due to the trade winds but these drop off at night Of course there is the cane toad problem

Don't know if it has been mentioned but Melksham when being interviewed on radio said they would be staying in Cairns between the 2 matches which is bonus. Anyone know if they are going up on game day or the day before?

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said on Wednesday morning that the major sporting event would inject "millions of dollars" into the state's economy, but she would be respectful in her celebrations, when the official announcement was made, out of concern for Victoria. We'll never see the numbers but given they have paid millions to attract the game it's doubtful they will make millions. No interstate travellers, minimal hotel bookings, restaurants operating at losses due to social distancing. Of course as others have pointed out there is that wonderful immeasurable benefit..... television exposure to billions around the world ? Can't wait for the Chinese viewing numbers

Under their covid plan try 15k but don't worry the deal requires the winning state to underwrite the crowd numbers
-
The scary thing about that game is that Essendon nearly won
-
Wonder if we will see one or two players leaving the hubs for Port Douglas or similar as their club's chance fall away. I suspect that yachting in the Whitsundays will figure highly in the postseason activities

The city of Churches will be rocking tonight !!

Saad has still not signed a contract. My guess it's a money/term issue https://www.afl.com.au/news/494414/dons-contract-crunch-ridley-imminent-but-what-about-mcgrath-saad-more-

T Mac is contracted until end of 2022 on $600k plus (I guess). On a trade we might get some club willing to pay $300k. That would make the net cost of contracting Finlayson around $800k minimum. We have to get TMac back into some kind of form. In the meantime forget Finlayson (remarkably similar trajectory to TMac) Viney for Saad is more realistic... Could even end up with change

Interesting question. From Reddit As we beat the Saints we end up on top (I assume there is another rule that says % is only taken to two decimal places.) (iv) Where two or more Clubs at the completion of the Home and Away Matches have accumulated the same Premiership Points and have the same percentage, the following procedure shall apply: (A) the position of the tied Clubs shall be adjusted by accumulating the Premiership Points awarded to the relevant Clubs as a result of the Home and Away Matches played between them and placing the Club with the highest accumulated Premiership Points, first as between them; (B) where the Premiership Points accumulated by the relevant Clubs remain equal, the position of the tied Clubs shall be adjusted by calculating each such Club’s percentage based on the proportion of points scored for and against each such Club from the Home and Away Matches between them and placing the Club with the highest percentage, first as between them; and (C) where two or more Clubs still remain tied, the position of the Clubs shall be adjusted by lot conducted and drawn by the General Manager - Football Operations so that any Club drawn ahead of any other Club shall be placed ahead of such other Club or Clubs.

Woey was the classic one hit musical sensation. A great year but alas not repeated. And of course in typicalMelbourne fashion his contract was up for renewal in the year after his one hit wonder.

Must have been a bad day

Never really paid O Mac much attention despite all the gnashing of teeth that goes on around here but watching him a little more closely in the replay is his disposal usually that bad. There were lots of turnovers in the Alice but he seemed to have a high percentage. On a positive note I can't remember many costing us a goal but they certainly killed the forward thrusts. Another question has Lever's kicking always been so ineffective or was he better pre-injury. Might be an intercept star but his ability to launch an attack is limited. Seems mainly a mark and prop player. We may have found another good rebounder in Rivers.

I'll finish it here but if you understand the youtube algorithm you might not be so quick to judge.

You may be living in the past mate. Youtube leaves FTA for dead in many areas. Anyway each to their own BTW... how will they pay for it with a 50% drop in revenue

sad to say that the trip to Coburg Port and Frankston will most likely be no more. I expect Essendon may vacate Windy Hill and perhaps share an oval such as Arden Street and Western Oval for its VFL matches. Not sure they would like to have the public at Tullamarine. On my one trip to Windy Hill I was amazed to see how little of the old Bombers set up was left. Hell they don't even have a scoreboard.

Bombers v Eagles at the Gabba tomorrow (Tuesday) night. Eagles without Kennedy and Daniher in form for the Bombers with Heppel .and Hurley back Eagles by 20... I hope Preceded by Hawks v Crows... a battle of the near extinct birds ?

Pity they broke down so often. The V 12 was a mechanic's dream money spinner. Continual rumours that Tata is trying to sell.

Very good point. He also has the knack of being in space at the right time. A very valuable addition.

Not quite up to the Jack Watts QB goal but nice... Definitely that Saints player was not chasing it hard until it took the bounce. Perhaps the Saints supporters might like to highlight that.

The decrease in the soft salary club will see clubs increasingly relying upon volunteer labour. One of the first things I hope they enlist is a decent media (video department) Most youtubers would put them to shame. Perhaps outsourcing the whole thing to a youtuber might be a good idea. Throw in a few pieces of financial advice(those videos make the most) and it would be a nice little earner for someone. Fascinating to see Rivers with his gopro after the game

Just watched the goal on the replay. The slow mos show that the goal umpire could not have been in a better position to call the goal Slow news day
