  1. I know where you are coming from but that never happens on game day In an even comp and we seem to always be the hunted now - we are always going to have to deal with high pressure for most each game - if we can't deal with that then we are going to struggle Somehow, we need to try and create more space for JVR , fritta, Gawn/Grundy to operate without trying to take marks in packs of 4 plus players. As a side note I thought Grundy's efforts to mark against Fremantle was probably his best so far as a Demon - hopefully he continues to build on that and become more effective in F50
  2. Interesting @watson11 I actually watched it again last night and felt similar - it was a serious contest. We were the better team overall but still managed to lose the game - had we won it would have been close given the pressure. If Oliver and Petty played, we probably win that game 9 of 10 times. I'm still worried about what our plan is to counter Carlton's big mobile forwards - Lever in particular looks a bit out of sorts. If he mans up on Curnow or McKay we have to hope they shank every kick because I think they will get plenty of the ball. Problem is we haven't got Petty so its only Joel Smith or maybe Schache that could come in - Disco is too small for either of those guys. So in selection this week I'd focusing on how we structure up defensively - needing one more tall and I'd be giving Chandler a rest at Casey. I haven't watched the Casey game yet but someone must deserve a chance.
  3. Interesting, do you think there is a case to bring him in next week as an extra tall defender - I'm by no means sold on him in any position at AFL level but I think if we try and cover McKay and Curnow with May and Lever we are asking for another loss - Lever is not a KPD - he is great as third man in and intercept marker but not great one on one with anyone that is bigger than he is IMO
  4. Look you are probably right, and this is the only Casey game this year I haven't watched (yet) It would be nice to see him use his mobility more to advantage and lead out to space more and command the footy - he does have good hands - I guess with relatively poor delivery and zone defense by most teams the ability to do this now is very difficult. One thing I do know is that atm trying to tack pack or contested marks is not his go he needs to find more ways to get involved in the play and have some impact
  5. And yet they can't beat anyone bar a rabble in Norf ? go figure
  6. Got it more than lots of his mates He is one of the very few that is capable of creating and hitting a target I’d be waving bye bye to others before him
  7. Our learnings don’t seem be learnt then I guess maybe that’s the problem
  8. I think some people over estimate our list - I’m still trying to work out if some of them are just done at this level or our system / passion is just not right
  9. Haven’t watched this game yet but I’m starting to get a little nervous about Jefferson - I know he’s got a fair amount of physical development needed to play a key forward role but he really seems to struggle to have any meaningful impact atm You would love to think we would have a few guys really knocking on the door for promotion given the AFL teams performance but apart from Tomlinson the cupboard seems a little bare
  10. Narrm aren’t much chop I’m afraid
  11. Are you sure you shouldn’t go home ??
  12. He was very very ordinary tonight against an undersized swans team
  13. Well, I'd like to think they have plenty of motivation to perform well without this prod but I do hope it stings them a little bit Great chance to make a statement - I haven't forgotten last years performance vs Flogmantle love the tables to be turned.
  14. Gee I do hope you are wrong - I do agree that the next few weeks will be telling in terms of getting a read on where we sit amongst the contenders.
  15. No it’s not yours You don’t even get a say in what your team is called these days You don’t get consulted before your club board makes public statements about issues that are unrelated to football You are useful only for your membership $ Rant over
  16. How is that relevant now that he has returned from injury and not performing I just don’t think you can promote a guy who is struggling to impact at VFL level If he kicks a few goals and puts some serious pressure on the opposition backs when he hasn’t got the ball now that’s a different situation - unfortunately that isn’t happening
  17. Well you’re not alone there
  18. If Hunter goes (which he shouldn’t) I’d put McVee on the wing he was far from our worst last night
  19. Struggles to get a kick at Casey but I guess it must be easier at AFL level Not sure why people seem desperate to promote a player that isn’t in form and seems incapable of making a contest and chase when not in possession Plenty looked slow last night and you want to add potentially our most immobile player - struggle to see the merit in this
  20. Not ready imo
  21. Pretty pathetic that he gets fined for demonstrating a bit of personality and humor. AFL - talk about the fun police!
  22. Huge blow this one as he is without doubt a crucial player in our structure
  23. Geez I'm now kind of relieved my betting account has only 15 cents left 😀
  24. funny show - unfortunately wouldn't be allowed these days
  25. Is this a real person or someone they hope to recruit in the mid-season draft
