  1. I watched the game yesterday and Collingwood struggled with Essendon run and carry game for 3 Quarters I was surprised how efficient the bummers were in terms of their disposal and their ability to block Collingwood running through the midfield - their main weapon Last quarter pies went full pressure and the bummers wilted terribly and the dam wall burst Pressure on the ball carrier wins most games - our problem is we seem to struggle to present that every quarter and every game. Our disposal not only in terms of decision making but also effectiveness is also below what it should be atm - hopefully that can change. Lost count in our game against tigers the number of 1. dumb 2 metre handballs that achieved nothing 2. dumb high bombs out of trouble and into more trouble My sense watching at times was the players just wanted to get rid of the ball and let someone else have the problem of finding a target Maybe it’s a lack of confidence because when we are playing well that isn’t what I see
  2. I would confidently say the vast majority of people going to these games don’t agree with your view Great that you have one but you’re in the minority
  3. People calling for BB to be promoted to push Petty back again are delusional Petty competes both on the ground and in the air - until TMac or BB start to show some strong form at Casey we have no choice but to leave Petty up forward if we want another tall back Disco Turner is playing well and could be an option
  4. Disco couldn’t do much worse
  5. Mate seriously Petty has managed a couple of contested marks and kicked a goal despite pathetic structure and entries Who would you have picked that played in a pitiful Casey forward line performance?
  6. I'd have more trouble explaining that a clear throw equates to a legitimate handpass - still a mystery how many of these happen when there are 4 umpires on the ground
  7. They are really missing both Mitch White and the Moose atm
  8. Agree with that assessment. I am getting a little concerned about Jefferson’s lack of intensity I realise he’s not Tom Hawkins but I would like to see some more marks at this level. I think my fear is that he could be the second coming of The Weed. Having BB and TMac in the F50 didn’t help yesterday I guess. The only ones you could really consider for promotion after that game were Disco, Harmes and Dunstan. Not giving up on young fellas as we have seen the likes of McVee turn it around fast. Still a lot of improvement required from the others including Howes and Woey before they get a call up.
  9. Any Docker loss is something to celebrate Thought the doggies were good tonight starting to build some momentum
  10. Not sure what that means ? I know Will Verrall hasn't got going yet but I still think he has plenty to offer in the role of tall who can ruck and play a bit forward. I'm hoping he can show some real promise in the second half of the year at Casey.
  11. No doubt they will but I'd still hope we are in his ear. Think we wanted to keep LJ too, but we all know what happened there - and yes, I know there were different factors at play with LJ.
  12. I'd be keen to get his take on who of the young boys at Casey is most likely to take the next big step (as he has now) to AFL football
  13. OOC in 2024 and apparently a few clubs interested in him. I hope we are one of them - really agile, great leap, excellent set of hands and a decent kick. Every game I've seen him play been impressed by what he brings.
  14. Can you sit next to our good friend Roost it far and hold his hand tightly
  15. Great news - thanks for staying true to the red & blue Trent
  16. Doubt May would be considered - Rivers perhaps with Piggy missing
  17. Don't lower yourself to loving Hodge's ramblings you're better than that.
  18. might be that if you start on the boundary there is only one direction you can move - start in the middle you can go two ways
  19. yep, same thing crossed my mind too.
  20. You could be right - both look like they are enjoying a few too many burgers atm if you ask me
  21. Curious - Have you watched the Casey games or just going of possession stats or other posters comments? Howes atm is capable as a receiver and in space, but I haven't seen much in the way of winning a contested ball. That may come but until he offers a more physical presence or ability to regularly win his own footy, I can't think of anyone from the weekend that he represents an upgrade on. Who makes way for him and why? I've been on the fence with Laurie so far and had my doubts, but I do recall a game at Geelong last year where he was very clean on a very wet track - he might be considered this week if we needed to rest a small. JVR from memory was good that game too.
  22. I don't waste my time with that usually - but thanks From my limited experience of the game day thread few if any comments tend to age well
  23. I think both teams were kicking at less than 50% efficiency in the first half. There was a fair bit of heat around the ball which was certainly contributing. Listening to TMac after the game he confirmed as much. Gus did have one or two moments but overall, I thought he was one of our best players. Surprised if there are people potting him here.
  24. I watched the Ess v GWS mini match replay on the AFL website. Very underwhelming - if either of those teams make finals I would be astonished.
  25. You obviously don't rate JV's contribution to the team. Without wanting to argue the point because it seems your mind is already made up. However, I think it would be good for you watch again some of our finals victories in recent years and pay close attention to Viney's role. When our team plays its best football, it is usually when Viney sets the standard for uncompromising attack at the football and opposition players. Not sure how much footy you have played yourself, but I'd be amazed if our entire squad was not inspired by Jack's courage. He is not silky like Fritta, he is not lightening quick like Kozzy, he doesn't run like Langdon - BUT I am confident what he does offer would ensure that he is one of the first names picked particularly when it's a big stage and a game we have to win. Again, I'm not wanting to debate the point but encourage you to revisit some of those big games.
