Captain: Grimes VC: Jones Why pull Grimesy away from the captaincy. He's been doing a great job. His year was perfectly fine till Brock broke his collar bone.
-
I didn't mean that in a negative way. I wasn't sure if it was something sentimental or a joke. Totally relaxed here
-
Geez the Demonland Sooks are out in numbers today. Get over it. It's an Australian Game, not all Demon supporters live in Melbourne. And to single out Darwin residents as drunks etc just shows how pathetic some people are on here.
-
Well feel free to come up with another name. Wasn't aware it was already reserved.

4 Horseman v2.0 lol Sorry, I was unaware of this history (and still am)
-
Melbourne Demons 2014 Forward Line. Do we call them the 4 Horseman? Jeremy (Famine) - If he's in the marking contest, he'll starve you of the ball. Mitch (Death) - What you'll experience when you get in his way. Jesse (Conquest) - In the way he attacks the ball. Chris (War) - His attitude on the entire game.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/daniel-cross-to-join-demons-20131021-2vx1o.html It's not a done deal until they perform all fitness tests and set KPI's on conditional 2nd year. Nitty gritty's left to do on contract, but he has already accepted to play for us in 2014. Verbally - Yes, Pen to Paper - Coming Soon -
I am far more excited about George Stone looking after our midfield than anything else that has happened in the last few weeks. Didn't matter who we added to the midfield, we needed a proven midfield coach to take the reins.
-
I was more excited about this news than any player we have gotten so far. Agree with OP, the most important piece to our puzzle after we got Roos.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOM TYSON

I'm certainly all for this trade. Maybe I look at things differently to others, but he was pick 3 two years ago, has some AFL experience under his belt and also fits the mould of our soon to be improved midfield group. I really don't see the point of activating our 2nd pick on a player to develop. At this stage, we have nothing to develop them for. Build the midfield around one core group. Then use our picks in the next few years to develop them. That way they have a group of elite players to learn from. Not the lost causes we have at the moment (which is not our boys faults, they had no one to learn off). -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BERNIE VINCE

Has anyone watched his highlight video yet? Hope he shows the rest how to hit targets and stab pass like that. I too agree with deanox & drdrake. If it gets as up and going to make a bigger impact on the season which in return retains Frawley and gives us more attraction at trade period. It ain't overs at all. Didn't everyone say Dawes was overs? He only played half a season and will make an even bigger impact this year. It ain't overs till it's over -
First International Rules Game this Sunday (20th) from 6:30 a.m.

Thanks for the info Hardtrack. I'm usually up around that time everyday. So I will definitely be watching it. Cheers -
Those player examples were more meant to be the guys we are currently chasing. Okay, one is outside the suggested age bracket, but most get the idea. Why is everyone so damn picky on this site? Seems everyone reads posts to pick at grammar, punctuation and facts rather than just discuss. Starting to get annoying.

I like Peter Ryans (AFL) view on our situation. He thinks we should target these younger 20-23 year old midfielders (Vince, Lyons, Michie) like we have, select our best kid at Pick 2 and leave the salary cap room to go for a free agent at the end of the year (ie Bryce Gibbs). There will be a few more experienced mids up for free agency next year and depending on how we go this year, we may have more pulling power if we can win more games. Actions do speak louder than words. I don't entirely agree. It is a longer term approach, that may work out better for us. Plus it is amazing how many people jump ship when a team is on the rise and their own club isn't.
-
So over hearing the word consistency.
-
Not the best example. Chapman is still AFL competitive, just not for Geelong who cannot sacrifice their next gen's development by starving them of AFL games. He'll still play well next year where ever he ends up. Pod is just about there though I was referring to them as sticking around the club and getting involved in coaching more than playing on. McDonald, Green, Bruce and now even Yze. All coaching at other clubs, all Melbourne 200+ gamers. You'd hate for upcoming players to start thinking "bugger playing for Melbourne. You play your guts out for 200+ games and they'll show you the door"
-
Yeah that and the fact we don't look after the boys who played 200+ games for us. Yze now fulltime at Hawthorn, Bruce upgraded to an assistant role. http://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/2013-10-14/hawks-confirm-coaching-changes

Number 7 all the way.
-
Great GUARANTEE there haha I knew he was gone when he never participated in anything after seasons end. All the players keen to make a difference hung around the club. All the best at Freo Col. Show the AFL what you couldn't do for us.
-
He may well do great at Freo and to be honest I hope he does. May as well go out with a bang and play some finals footy. It was just never going to happen at the Dee's. He was coasting far to much to ever get his finger out of his bum. He will most certainly have to do that at Freo to get any spot in that 22 and I truly hope he does. I would just rather see a 23 year old mature aged mid from another club run at muck at Melbourne that Sylvia coast another year. Fed up with waiting for Sylvia to produce more than mediocre efforts.
-
I've been saying it all year and I'll say it again. Bye Bye Col.
-
Well said Demoneyes. I hardly post for that exact reason. Too many times comments are quoted and shot down, it actually started putting me off coming to Demonland. Which is not good. We should all feel free to comment. If you don't like it, ignore it. Simple.
-
Yeah work for us, not them. Pick 2 would be the only thing Brisbane would possibly consider to give him up. He's there best midfielder finishing with almost 100 touches more then Redden this year. Ball Magnet. Let's just wait and see if he will even consider us. Everyone here rambled on about Taylor Adams for months and the kid laughed at the prospect of going to Melbourne. We are last on most players list.
-
Go Jade! Great investigating if this is true. Rocky's name hasn't even been mentioned in the trade wind. I would be happy to trade pick 2 for Rocky as well. Dominates the Brisbane engine room and gets touches regardless of where Brisbane are in the competition.

Tell me about it. Most friends of mine are Swans supporters, they can wear a jersey from 2001 and still look up to date.
