  1. Not sure it was Oliver that killed the game. It was a real team result for all four quarters. He had a lot of possessions but how effective were they? I don't have the quarter by quarter figures but overall he wasn't in the top 4 for any of: tackles, i50's, goal assists, meters gained. His 7 votes are very well deserved but it annoys me when people just look at his possession count to assess his (or anyone's) contribution to a result. And it annoys me when someone takes a cheap 'drive by' shot at one of our players: Bloody Trac is why Clarry wonโ€™t win a Brownlow by the way. Like @DemonlandI'll take premierships and NSM over Brownlow every day of the week.
  2. But hasn't been selected since available which is why I have him in the 'emergency' category. In Gawn and Petty we have better options.
  3. That is most probably true. However, our system is designed to have two talls in our forward line: a combo of: Brown, TMac, Gawn, Schache, Petty but we don't have the Curnow/McKay, Cameron/Hawkins, Daniher/Hipwood duos. So, as I see it our talls are not there to kick goals. They are there to give us 'aerial presence' and stop the trillion i50 intercept marks of yesteryear. They are to stop opp tall defenders from playing as a 'spare' in a contest. Their job is to mark or bring ball to ground. To support this view, collectively, they have kicked just 22 of our 120 goals this season. As long as our defence holds up and in the absence of an alternative, Petty will play forward altho there is still plenty of time to experiment with who are the two talls each week. imv Brown and TMc don't have that 'aerial presence' any more and I suspect it is Brown's knee and TMc's foot that inhibit their leap. They are now in the 'break glass in emergency' category.
  4. Very hard to support this. In the two games we lost we were without Max and either May/Lever and a wonderful new kid in McVee learning the ropes. Our lowest score has been 93 pts and our winning margins: 50pts (WBD scored 65 pts), 50 points (Syd scored 84 pts), 63 points (WCE scored 63 pts), 18 pts (Tigers scored 78pts) and 90 pts (North scored 49 pts) Even in our two losses the ops score have been 2 and 4.5 goals. That doesn't look like a porous defence to me.
  5. Not sure about that. I might ride their 'death train' along with GWS supporters who hold the Tigers first pick; a pick we may want to trade up for.
  6. Beautiful words from Kozzy: "Giving back to my community and putting smiles on kids' faces makes me happy. I was once that little kid and it's special for me to now be giving back and doing what I love, surrounded by people I love..." Great tribute to family, friends, teammates and coaches.
  7. Can any GA (or other)member sit there or is a reserved seat required?
  8. Updated for the one we have all being waiting for: Love you, Kozzy โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™and that premiership smile! Now we can all concentrate on the football.๐Ÿ™‚
  9. Clearly they didn't watch the Dees/Tigers game last week.
  10. Talking of crowds. Hope non-member Dee fans are buying tickets for the KB game as it will probably sell out. It would be great if we had more fans there than Coll and make more noise. Hopefully, the neutral fans will barrack for us as well!
  11. We softened the tigers up for them But seriously, not a match to be taken lightly. Mid way through last year, when we were still unbeaten, it was reported that our club thought the hardest match to date was vs GCS at Metricon. The team will not and definitely should not take this game lightly. We should win but it won't be easy. As you say they will be confident with their form and their game vs us last year so will put up a fight. Fans shouldn't get complacent either.
  12. Richmond microwaves must be working overtime lately. Crowd was only 23,664. People complain about our fans not turning up. Rich have over 100,000 members, it was their Home game and it was a day game. No excuses!!
  13. Hopefully, dee fans who aren't members are buying their tickets for the KB game now as I suspect it will be a sell out before long. It could be a bigger crowd than ANZAC Eve. As our Home game it would be fantastic if we can have more fans than Coll and make more noise than them.
  14. Did folks notice the card Dolly made for Gus and Danielle? It read: "you make a great ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ. Dolly showing her creative and drawing skills. Cute. Looks a great kid.
  15. I'm not too worried about the two losses as we were without Max and either May/Lever in each game. And we came back with strong final quarters in both games. Yeah, I thought Jordon had an ok game but not sure it is enough to keep him in the 22 as other players return.
  16. Spargo for Jordon. Petty for Schache altho would like Schache to get another go.
  17. Thought Jordon had just an ok game with little impact offensively or defensively, even tho he played 83% game time. Not sure last night helped his cause to stay in the 22. Not saying he should be dropped. Just not showing what many on here hoped he would.
  18. We have a nice balance of small forwards: Spargo and ANB play defensive fwds and protect the mids. Kozzie and Chandler the pack scouts and attacking forwards while still doing their defensive jobs. The tall fwds may need a bit of tweaking but we don't have a weakness on any line And four premiership players outside the team: Salem, Petty, TMc and Brown (five if we add Harmes). This may sound odd but I'm glad we have lost two games. Allows us to go under the radar a little. Especially with Carlton being the new 'love child'. We are building nicely. Very good chance we will be 10.3 at the bye. Then go from there.
  19. I had Chandler as a 'journeyman' type player. He has very quickly become a key part of our line up. Very impressive performance last night. He has had quite a few shots from difficult angles recently and slotted them all. Has great goal sense. Reads the play really well giving him good fieldd positions. Clubs may try and curtail his impact in future but hey they can't stop everyone!!
  20. Can see Zane as our target player with Freo's first being the key part and we trade up if necessary. Then use some combo of our other 2023/2024 picks to trade into the top 10 if there is a target player there.
  21. Yes, lots of permutations. Like you I would much rather we aim for a top 5 and top 10 pick than use all our chips for pick 1, the original hypothetical in the other thread. There will definitely be more than one elite midfielder in the top 5 and then aim for the next best whatever with the top 10 pick.
  22. I like the idea but hope we come up with a better term than 'youse' or another spelling otherwise it will be mispronounce and rhyme with 'mouse'!!๐Ÿ˜ I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to the English language (and for a few other things). But happy to embrace the new ideas.
  23. I doubt any top 10 pick club would take that deal despite the inherent value. My suggestion in another thread was that we could aim for a top 5 and a top 10 pick by multiple deals with different clubs. eg using the picks you mention I could see us using 25, and F1 for a pick in the low teens to mid teens. Then package that up with pick 16 giving two good first round picks to get a top 10 pick from different club. Then see where the Freo pick falls to see if we need to go higher and use #35 plus whatever to sweeten the deal. We will probably get other picks in if we trade out players (even for third round picks) which again can be packaged to clubs who need points and upgrade $35. Overall, I do think a top 5 and a top 10 pick in this draft is quite achievable - it just depends how we package the picks to get a top 10 pick in the first instance.
  24. Gee, 'woke' can mean so many things. So often it is so negative it borders on being an insult. I wasn't trying to put a particular slant on the 'gents' comment more to make it more inclusive. No need to apologise, I certainly wasn't offended hence the p.s. footnote.
