  1. Simmonds. The MM (2000) was the year he played in a GF.
  2. For sure, LILy would be Captain of his Roamin AFLW team. I'LL settle for VIce! I know of at least two CC (Cryptic Crossword) fans on DL @Demonstone@WalkingCivilWarwho might like to find the code🙃 I'm sure there are others!
  3. Just browsed this thread again,. With the wisdom of knowing the answer believe it or not you are on the right track!! @Timothy Reddan-A'Blewapologies if I have hijacked your Sunday morning clue 'unleashing'.
  4. Hey 'Tim', is it time to give a 'cryptic' clue?😉
  5. Unfortunately, the AFL haven't published a list of the nominated NGA players. All we have is snippets from the media for a couple of the more high profile ones. Last year I couldn't find a pre-draft reference of our intention to nominate AM-W but at some stage we did. I'm wondering if the same has happened with FE-B... If we do want him we have several options to fit him into the list by changing the mix of the number of senior and rookie players.
  6. Yes, I encourage all to submit what may appear to be 'obscure guesses' because they may just be right. And not so obscure once it is confirmed.
  7. Thank you but I'm in shock!! My 'guess' seemed so obscure I thought twice about sending it to avoid embarrassing myself, even in private!
  8. A somewhat similar article to some above: draft-preview-homesick-players It seems more and more players are making their club preferences known in the lead up to the draft, In addition to the 'go home' factor, the 'New Gen' is an interesting development for all draftees but perhaps more so with those from i/state: NEW-GEN, NEW RULES? "...At the risk of sounding too philosophical, some clubs believe players in their adolescence in 2022 have, on average, less patience than those of those in prior generations.... ...Young players struggling to get a senior game early in their career may already be getting impatient, but that impatience is only amplified when the avenues for fresh starts are, as mentioned, continuously growing. Couple that with the fact clubs will traditionally offer more money to get a player out and it once again becomes a perfect storm for movement." Certainly a chance for some sliders in this draft with a few highly rated SA and WA draftees but Adelaide, Port and Freo not having a draft pick inside #30 (at this stage). Will the Vic clubs be shy about taking them too highly or let them slide?
  9. I noted that rule for Keeler, an NGA, in my earlier post. MM is a F/S so can be matched at any pick.
  10. Just looking at a recent 'Knightmare' phantom draft and saw that Adelaide have a F/S, Max Michanney which 'Knightmare' is suggesting a bid at #31. Adelaide will need points to match that bid and may need to trade out some of its 2023 picks.. So another legit reason for the Crows to not nominate Keeler.
  11. Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere on DL. It is a great article on our tactics after quarter time of the Crows game. t-hanks-for-the-win-how-the-dees-turned-the-tables-on-the-crows The key? "But it all started with the Demons' changes in the middle, and the willingness of Tyla Hanks to sacrifice her own game to create opportunities for her ball winning teammates". It sounds very similar to the attitude of the AFL team in 2021. Hopefully, the girls can deliver the same prize 🏆🙃
  12. Good to see Salem moving/running like that - perhaps a sign that the o.p that has plagued him for nearly two years might be fixed.
  13. Adelaide's apparent 'lack of interest' could be because: 1) they think he will go in the top 40 so not allowed to match 2) their only draft picks are: 46, 56, and 59 so even if we went after 40 they have limited draft currency to fulfill their draft obligations of 3 draftees/rookie upgrades. They have a full hand of 2023 picks plus an extra F2 (NM) and F3 (Coll) but may not be willing to use any of them to match a bid after pick 40...are they targetting someone better than Keeler in 2023? 3) On a 'needs' basis they think they have enough forward and ruck options and have other positions in mind for a 'needs' basis pick this year. They all look like good reasons to me.
  14. I agree it isn't ground breaking. But Max carries on, all fan boy, about Blicvas and Stanley sounding somewhat in awe. Fortunately he said: "... we can plan what we want to do but, in the end, it’s what Goody...wants us to do as well." So hopefully Goodwin has them performing better than two makeshift ruckman and we won't be just copycats!
  15. Gawn and Grundy to replicate Cats strategy? We have the best two ruckman in the land so we are just going to copy the tactics of two older part-timers? Tactics that will be yesterday's news by 2023! Hope Goodwin has some better ideas...
  16. Updated for one year contracts to Hibberd and Meklksham
  17. Were the North Geelong scores correctly reported: No goals by either team after quarter time😲 Given the number of i50 Geelong should have won by a country mile. North's high tackle count doesn't seem to have helped them get the ball i50 to score. Glad I didn't watch it.
  18. While it is good to see the players hard it at it already I wonder about the wisdom of it. There was a fair bit of evidence that we kept the training up in the 2021/2022 pre-season and even Max said it was like 2021 and 2022 rolled into one long season. This seemed to impact our ability to play out games after the mid point this season.. Acknowledging the short break after the GF contributed to this but not sure we had the balance right last year. Hope this year we have learnt from that and re-balanced the training regimes.
  19. Generally agree but if they lock the ball in their F50 and pressure the ball carrier as they did in the GF, we won't get much opportunity to make the most of our strengths and ball movement.
  20. Updated for JVR 2 year contract extension until 2025. Based on the list that @Demonlandpublished above Tomlinson is now shown as OOC in 2024. I searched for Schache's contract status at the Bulldogs and it seems he was OOC in 2022 so we have given him a one year contract. josh-schache-contract-western-bulldogs-forward-signs-new-deal I will update the number of games played when I do the final version for this year after the draft.
  21. Really nervous about this game. In the GF the beat us by shutting down our space and stopping our ball movement by not going directly for the ball but going the tackle instead, especially in their F50. Even without Phillips and with a proppy Randall they will be a formidable force if we aren't ready for and have counter tactics for their high pressure game style.
  22. Is it possible to post their list of player 'contract status'? I assume the the article is about sal cap space? If so many of our more highly paid players: May, Lever, Gawn, Viney, Brown, Mc Donald, Tomlinson come out of contract in the next 1 - 3 years and will then be on a lot less (or retired) leaving sufficient room for the up and coming players. I have little doubt it has all been factored in by the club. There is no way we will have the Coll sal cap problem. If the article is talking about breaking into the best 22 then yeah for the next year or two it will be a challenge especially for the small to medium players.
  23. Purple is a bit behind the times. I thought it was obvious from the start:
  24. I have a vague recollection that the B Rookie list was reduced from 3 to 2 when the overall list sizes were cut in 2020 due to covid and sal cap reductions. Could be wrong.
  25. Updated for the recruitment of Kyah Farris-White as a B Rookie so we no longer have a B Rookie spot available. A one year contract has been assumed. This makes our drafting of Finn Emile-Brennan interesting as we no longer have a B rookie spot. So do we think he will go around pick 37 or do we not intend to take. Of course we could swap in a late pick.
