  2. This makes our drafting of Finn Emile-Brennan interesting as we no longer have a B rookie spot. So do we think he will go around pick 37 or do we not intend to take. Of course we could swap in a late pick. Intriguing. Edit: correction of pick 47 should have been pick 37.
  3. A bit late to the party, glad to see it is still open. Several times I've thought I have the answer using the first names then up crops an exception!😐 Any chance of another clue oh wise one😉
  4. The dramas will continue. From the article: “They’ve brought in Geoff Walsh over the two men Lethlean wanted to run things. They’ve basically knocked back his first envisaged structure of the footy department. “Now they’ve decided they want Ross Lyon to coach..." It looks like Lethlean was overruled by Bassat and the Board and Lethlean has a subordinate (Walsh) he didn't choose but appointed by the President. Lethlean sandwiched in the middle! He had better watch his back!.
  5. And it is so easy to be seduced. This year 3 of the top 10 players in the 2015 draft were traded for 3rd or 4th round picks with not many games to their names after seven years.
  6. Yeah, they updated Jackson but I didn't check other players that have move clubs. Contract length may sift through in the coming weeks. Its a bit annoying that it isn't in press releases or discussed in trade articles.
  7. Not a phantom draft but thought this is a good spot for this article: We asked 16 AFL prospects who they’d take with Pick 1. The clear favourite wasn’t the unanimous choice Interesting reading as to why those four players would select themselves at No 1. Unusual to see that sort of confidence. Could even be seen to lack humility. But good on them for backing themselves. Given GWS have pick 1 it will be Cadman unless they bid on Ashcroft forcing Lions to match.
  8. Thanks Katrina. Not sure what happened. Now fixed.
  9. We are closing in on a top 2 finish: Essendon and Eagles at Casey. Keep up our recent 4-quarter game and we should win well and build our % further. Hoping that Collingwood beat or get close to Brisbane in round 10 lowering their % and give us a crack at top spot! Ideally top of the ladder finish is best as that team is most likely to host a Home Grand Final. It would be a massive advantage if that was us. It wouldn't be at Casey so we don't get the Home ground advantage but we would get the home crowd advantage to cheer the team over the line. And, it is about time an AFLW grand final was in Melbourne!
  10. On past posters. There are a couple who lurk and regularly 'react' but no longer post: @Rhino Richardsand @beelzebub
  11. On the subject of not knowing if we've lost a DL'er to the other side. The day after we were eliminated from the finals I had a pm from @old deeto let me know that he wouldn't be on DL anymore, to not worry as he hadn't died. I confess to shedding a tear as I would miss him on DL. Well folks, it was the fastest resurrection you have ever seen! Within a mere 24 hours he was back posting🤩💕
  12. LOL! I felt like a lost soul when I changed my name and had to wait a whole month to become Lucifers Hero again, except that the 'new' name didn't have an apostrophe which needless to say was promptly picked up by @Demonstone. I've been meaning to put the apostrophe back but I kind of like that it riles him😉 Lucifer's Hero was created at the time JImmy died. For me he was a Hero not for any particular thing but for how he lived his life and gave his all to everything he did: Demons, Reach, Family etc. I toyed with preceding Hero with 'Dees', 'Devil', 'Demons' but 'Lucifer' sounded more fun and cheeky. I'm not sure when or who shortened it to 'Luci'. I think it was one of these rascals😉: @Bitter but optimistic@Demonstone@daisycutterwho would of course write 'luci' as he only uses lower case! It is an endearing moniker and I really like that many DL's have adopted it.
  13. His ramblings are as bad if not worse than Robbo and I never thought that was possible.
  14. I also hope we thrash Freo but I have no ill will toward Jackson. I'm indifferent. And I wouldn't like to see him becoming a whipping boy for Freo fans if he doesn't live up to his contract and the hype. He wasn't the only player that didn't give his all this season. Goodwin said as much after the first semi. I see him as an immature, not too bright 21 year old. Having said that I am surprised his manager or someone else didn't ghost write a decent 'thank you' message for him for mfc and its fans. Sam Weideman set a fine example in that regard.
  15. 'Footywire' which is usually fairly accurate is showing a two year contract for Hunter. This is the same as the remaining term he had at WBD I'll update the Contracts Thread for Hunter. If anyone sees any other info on his contract please let me know.
  16. 'Footywire' which is usually fairly accurate is showing a one year contract for Schache. It surprises me as when a player changes club it is usually for a minimum of 2 years. If it is one year it really gives Schache a strong message to decide how much he wants a football career. I'll update the Contracts Thread for Schache. If anyone sees any other info on his contract please let me know.
  17. While there seems to be little in the media on his Freo contract 'Footywire' which is usually right shows it to be until 2029 ie a seven year contract. Hope for his sake he delivers on his early promise.
  18. Quote: "Had doubts, didn't communicate them as they re-signed him and then asked him to present a case" Quote: "Fancy having a freshly-minted two-year contract then having to desperately pitch for your job." Quote: "...club leadership that admitted you weren’t given the best chance to succeed and subsequently made you plead for your job…" So they decide to sack him having effectively recruited his replacement. They let the man believe he had a chance when he didn't and they knew it. They still made him beg for his job. Then hit him for six. Why would they put a good man who gave his all through that sort of torment. The least they could have done was give him a heads up after the season ended or when Bassat came back from the cruise on Lindsay Fox's boat when it seems they hatched their plan. No, they chose to blindside him. And put him through a public humiliation. Disgraceful! It is good to see those media tweets pointing the finger where it belongs: Lethlean and Bassat!! I mentioned at the start of this thread that Lethlean had a lot to answer for. Well Bassat also does. The Saints deserve better leadership than they have provided. Both should go. I so feel for Ratten. He has been through so much in his coaching and personal life. He deserved much, much better. Not the least, some humanity and care.
  19. I''ve been ambivalent to David King and his rantings. He has sunk to a new low with this: sam-weideman-traded-to-essendon-most-frustrating-player-never-needs-a-shower-analysis-bombers-must-hire-new-coach Of all the players traded King had to go and ridicule Sam. A pathetic attack on a young man who is rightly excited about a new opportunity. There were other players traded who had weaknesses who he could have picked on. But I'm glad he didn't. No player deserves that sort of commentary, least of all Sam.
  20. 2019? I thought it was 2020 when DL became fever pitch on this. Maybe they weren't entirely wrong as the President and at least one Board member were simultaneously in the throes of getting AFL approval to sack him. So the DL angst wasn't entirely unfounded. Nonetheless your point is very valid: the clubs that back in their coach and stay the distance, support them properly are the ones that experience success.
  21. I thought that too. But having 3 ex senior coaches working for the senior coach probably wouldn't be the best mix of support for Goodwin.
  22. I wasn't critical of the Corrigan decision. I was referring to ex-geelong players 'going home'/appointed to FD roles: Byrnes, Mackie, Taylor, Egan, Kelly last year and now Corrigan.
  23. They recruited only one player, Zaine Cordy who hadn't been offered a contract so not too much damage done. Hunter Clarke might feel aggrieved.
  24. It is the things not on the public record that made Hunter a problem child at WBD. Think 'rat pack' behaviours. Think culture. Think the persistent reasons Dunkley kept asking for a trade. Anyway, he is ours now. We have done our due diligence and the club thinks they can reahab him. So hopefully he lives to mfc standards and doesn't distract anyone.
  25. Hannebery arrived a few years before Ratten. Jones and Hlll arrived when he was caretaker coach or just taken over as senior coach so he probably didn't have much say in their recruitment. He has only been in the job for a few years, hardly enough time to make his mark let alone have an impact.
