  1. I didn't mean all the i/state games will be in the 2nd half. Usually we get the bye after the KB game round 13. Three or Four 1/state games in the last 9/10 rounds plus Alice could give us a nasty schedule again.
  2. I reckon you guys have a worse case of MFCSS/AFL persecution than I have😉
  3. Something is holding up the 'Gather' Round 6 fixture which was scheduled for release on Tuesday. I wonder if is clubs squabbling over whose Home game it will be? And whether it is compensated somewhere else? Or stuff like that. I wouldn't mind playing one of the WA teams that round in SA. One less long haul trip. At least two Eastern states will get that advantage so hope it is us.
  4. So we know 4 of the first 16 rounds. Round 1 - Bulldogs, Saturday night, MCG (Home game) April 24 - Richmond, Monday night, MCG (Home game) June 12 - Collingwood, Monday afternoon, MCG (Home game) Round 16 - GWS, Time TBA, Alice (Home game) On that basis we may be doing a bit of travelling in the second half of the season again.☹️ as there will be at least another 5 interstate games to fit in. Hopefully, those last three games don't compromise getting a decent break between games or a full bye round break.
  5. Great that we go there but it is a shame it won't be during Indigenous Round. GWS. A nice change to not be playing a team from WA or SA that usually has a strong following in NT. Will give us an opportunity to embed our identity and the Demon Spirit as the AFL team to support.
  6. Gather what? No pizazz there whatsoever. Even without sponsors surely someone in marketing has some imagination!
  7. What is the name?
  8. What makes you think that, od?
  9. Is there a fixture yet...
  10. An excellent insight into the wheeling and dealing of the first round draft night. While not much happened there was a lot happening behind the scene. trades-that-didn-t-come-off and unsurprisingly we were in the thick of it! I wonder who we had in mind for GWS's (initial) pick #19? There are few unknowns between the clubs at draft time. Sydney's bids and trades were the only interesting aspect of the whole draft. . While Twomey had a fair bit of the info before the draft, I'm guessing the finer details have been provided to him in the last week. Fascinating reading.
  11. Not sure what he has to do with the injured players post but anyway I'll play along. He ain't a team player, just wants to rack up possessions and won't run both ways. He is where our midfield players were in 2019. No thanks.
  12. Where is that 1/3rd, please?
  13. That is a bit depressing. If after all these years they can't find a 'site within the Melbourne and Olympic precinct then it aint going to happen. There just isn't any 'empty'/unused land there that hasn't been claimed by other sports/community interests. Time for the Board to see the writing on the wall, put egos aside and move on to another location. Surely we can be creative enough to find another inner city precinct where we can partner with a community/educational/multicultural/sporting organisations that would welcome what a shared facility with mfc can bring. We won't get a piece of dirt any other way.
  14. Surprised that we are the 4th eldest @ 25.08. Geelong not that far ahead @ 25.48 courtesy of all those 1st round local lads that returned home. Even so it is misleading as they have a lot of players over 30 mostly in their best 22. Game day age profiles will be quite different.
  15. I was wrong on both clubs. Really glad North are still in it. They lost the Friday nights they pioneered decades ago and it would be inappropriate for them to lose GF now. They need the leg up. As for Carlton. Just as bad as Ess getting the GF gig!
  16. A few decent opp players are out until the new year: Sam Walsh, Max King, De Goey, Stringer who seems to never e fit! It can't help their season build up.
  17. Can't get behind the paywall but just saw this on HS website: Good Friday club dumped for Vic powerhouse "The AFL will thrust one of the biggest clubs in the league into the Good Friday limelight in a bid to add some extra spice to the annual public holiday game". Any guesses? My guess is Essendon for North/Saints. Just doesn't seem fair whoever it is being dumped.
  18. I can see the Dogs getting more than their share of night games...again. Never ends. Protected by umpies. Promoted by the AFL!!
  19. Isn't the 'magic' round fixture due out today
  20. Or a mate that Pell gave info to, or Pell himself told other mates etc A bit early to tarnish the whole umpire fraternity.
  21. That is the problem - it has all been 'stop gap'. Nothing of any substance. Now that government distractions have passed (covid, election) there are no excuses for not announcing the plan including location to gt funding. Other clubs seem to have their act together sufficiently to get necessary approvals (eg community, LGA, etc) and funding. If they haven't found a location by now we may as sell forget it happening.
  22. This was interesting from Dunn who is standing for the Ess Board: board-contender-dunn "Dunn said it was important there was a contested election and members had a say after being frustrated at the lack of democracy and having new board members appointed without an election. “I am not looking to be an agent of change, I am looking to be an agent of stability..." Ess have got a lot wrong but seems to have no problem with their contenders taking their case to the media. While we as MFC members vote, I'm not convinced our processes are democratic in that contenders do not have an effective means to put their case/credentials to members. We are nearly a quarter of the way into the next century and it is a digital media world.. It makes sense that our (and all AFL clubs) move into modern day and improve their democratic processes both in nominating to stand and allowing candidates to take their message to members be it via media, forums, mail etc. There is nothing to fear by incumbent Board members. I don't mean those there today, I include those to come when the incumbents move on.
  23. We may not get so many night games this year with four teams finishing ahead of us wanting the bright lights. And Carlton, Ess and Bulldogs will as usual get more than their ladder position warrants. I would rather have our night games in Mar to May than June to Aug and hopefully the night games in the winter months are in the warmer states. The MCG is bitter at night in winter. As an aside, I note the AFL has brought forward the Friday night game but by only 10 minutes to 7.40 pm. Bit of a token effort given nearly everyone wants it at the same time as Thursday (7.20pm) or Saturday (7.25pm) night.
  24. The might do something of that ilk next year. Keep an eye out around May.
