2023 List and Contract Details
Not sure Turner going changes a lot. But I agree Melksham will go onto the A rookie list. Whether we stay with 36 and 6 or go to 37 and 5 will depend on Brown (see post above this one). Still al lot of options, eh? Will be interesting to watch.

That rule applies to NGA draftees but not F/S. And we don't have a B rookie list spot as AM-W has been given another year as a B rookie. If Brown nominates us and he is bid on we will match the bid with a late pick. If not bid on my guess is he joins us for preseason training and we take him as an A rookie in the SSP draft but I'm not too sure of those rules.

2023 List and Contract Details
Updated for K Turner delisting and on @Dannyz info that AMW has had a contract extension. I've taken the contract terms for our new recruits from 'footywire' as they are fairly reliable. If anyone gets more up to date info please advise. Billings and McAdam: OOC 2025 Fullarton: OOC 2004...I'm a bit surprised that he came on just a one year contract so one to double check... Now only Melksham uncontracted.

Can’t let that one pass, Jontee. I feel compelled to defend the honour of my childhood and teenage stomping ground! I haven’t been to Merimbula and its been decades since going to Lakes Entrance. But other than a nice beach they just don’t compare to the Mordi beach precinct at that time. My memories: A real Carnival; a mini Luna Park with a Ghost Train but sans the Big Dipper The ‘Dodgems’ were the best rides!! Always did love driving cars fast! The Shindig dance on Sunday nights. Johhny Farhnam and the Strings Unlimited performed there occasionally. Fishing off the Mordi pier if one was so inclined. Parents buying fresh fish straight from the sea from Mrs Pompeii’s gate at the Mordi Bridge; it was an illicit business I believe. Apparently the gate is still there. Just about the best and cleanest stretch of beach on Port Phillip Bay being north of the Mordi Creek. Trapezing up the Mordi creek to pick blackberries and catch tadpoles. All in all the beach precinct was an idyllic place to spend one’s childhood and teenage years. And in latter years a refuge in times of trouble,

2023 List and Contract Details
Re my third option: split for a later pick to get Brown and a future pick. That was before Lamb said we would take two picks to the draft. Agree there is not enough room for that option unless upgrading 6 and 11. It all suggests ND42 will be traded out or split at some stage. We will know more in the next few weeks if Brown nominates mfc which he would only do if we agreed to take him at some stage or the ND/Rookie process. Edit: just checked the F/S nomination end date is Oct 31.

The footnotes show the contract term is only assumed at this stage. When the detail becomes available I will update the table.

afaik it is straight move but I think the play needs to be out of contract. Having said that the AFL seems very flexible on 'rules'...

2023 List and Contract Details
D Turner will be promoted this year and McVee next year. McVee's won't be brought forward to this year unless they rewrite his contract. I can't see the club going to 38 senior players which as you say we haven't for a number of years. I'm sure the club will create enough list spots to accommodate the players it wants drafted and keep, in whichever categories work for all concerned.

2023 List and Contract Details
My chart is based on the current status of club strategy and players which right now gives 3 list spots: one senior and 2 A rookie. There is no evidence the club would go to 38 senior spots and I think that just won't happen. So, it is a hypothetical that I reckon is not worthy of much more discussion. Perhaps the hypothetical is best in another thread.

Can we still use pick 42?
Question for folks: If Melksham goes onto the LTI list is it for the whole of 2024 or can he be brought back onto the senior list to play later in the year...?

Can we still use pick 42?
We won't 'pass' on #42; it is too valuable: it will probably come in a few spots after all the gcs round 2 picks have been used for academy players. If we intend to not use it in a pre draft pick upgrade, it will be cashed in at some stage before or on draft night for a pick for Brown and or a future pick.

2023 List and Contract Details
Your count of 34 is the same as my count of 35 as I have included Melksham because right now he is on the senior list. My list spot numbers assumes the 2023 mix of 36 senior players and 6 A rookies to total the max allowed of 42. The club can change this mix. I believe the calc of 4 list spots is incorrect as it assumes Melksham is not on any list. Right now he is on the senior list and if not he has to be counted on the A rookie list. Either way we have three list spots available. Re these 4-list spot scenarios: ND6, 11, 42 and Brown with Melksham to RL. ND6, 11, and Brown with Melksham retained. ND1, 42, and Brown with Melksham retained. ND1, 42, extra late pick from Eagles, and Brown with Melksham to RL. These will all result in an increase in the number of senior list spots from 36 to 37 or 38, which I have noted as possibilities in posts above. If those are the scenarios proposed by the media they should read this thread. I think they are wrong! There are 3 list spots right now! As an aside, we will only have 4 if K Turner is delisted but that will only generate an additional A rookie spot. But that decision has not been taken and I think our current list should be the starting point for list spots.

Not sure we can delist a contracted player even if they are rookied but I could be wrong.

2023 List and Contract Details
Cheers! Yes very tight for spots. Moving Melksham to A rookie list is a bit like robbing 'Peter to pay Paul' as we don't have many A rookie spots. To use ND 6, ND11 and take Brown we need 3 senior spots but currently only have one. Melksham to become an A rookie, giving us two (but just 1 A rookie spot). The only way I see to get that 3rd senior spot is to increase the list from 36 to 37 as I believe we cannot delist a contracted player (but I could be wrong) altho some can retire but that looks unlikely. If we consolidate ND6 and ND11, trade out ND42 and take Brown we will need only 2 senior spots. Interesting days ahead!

#42 won't be 'wasted'. options: used in a pick upgrade traded out for future picks split for a later pick to get Brown and a future pick. See @Turner response below re the rookie option for Brown I believe we can only delist uncontracted players so the only candidate is AM-W
