2020 AFL Rookie Draft
Found it! From The Age: "In the week before Christmas clubs can nominate a maximum of six players being considered for the SSP to train with them from January 6 when club's senior players return". afl/the-afl-to-have-one-mid-season-rookie-draft

2020 Contracts and List Details
Thanks for noticing. Correct table: This paints quite a different picture - we won't be caught out by a lot of long - term contacts with 28 players (excl rookies) coming out of contract in the next two years. It goes a long way to reducing our player contract risk. While it gives us less leverage over players who may want a trade it also protects us against the TMac scenario where his sal package was to big a hurdle for other clubs to take on.

2020 AFL Rookie Draft
No order. It is by invitation to train. Player can say aye or nay. Then the club can offer a rookie spot.

Not sure. I'm still trying to find the PSS guidelines again.

20 Minute Quarters & 1st 6 Matches TBA
A great by-product of this is that AFLW will no longer have the farcical conference system and will go back to a single ladder.

Yes. Just waiting for the dust to settle on the drafting and will start a new '2021 List' thread with all the updated info.

2020 Contracts and List Details
I'm not entirely sure whether it is one or two as there is some confusion about the mix allowed to get to a total of 44 players. There are AFL releases with conflicting info. So we have at least 1 'A' rookie. Could be 2 depending on interpretation of the rules.

2020 AFL Rookie Draft
Yes. I believe a club can invite up to 6 players to train with them starting January 6. Then clubs have to mid March to decide whether to add them to the list ala, Bennell and Lockhart (pending available list spots). I have a feeling there is a core group of players lots of clubs will be chasing to invite to train. Hopefully we got in early and have our preferred players join us rather than another club. Edit: I can no longer find where I read that 6 players could be invited, so take that part with a grain of salt.

Proud to Belong, Proud to Give
Thanks od. I looked at the emails from the club and they said 'Registrations' close on Dec 8. No idea if that is significant. There isn't much on the website. I guess it is now too late to ask questions. Staffing levels aside, the fan forum is far too important for the club to not post updates/reminders/question forms on the website rather than makes us trawl thru emails or make phone calls.

2020 AFL Draft
I forgot to mention that for that future 1st (and rubbish >60+ picks) they got back two future 3rd picks as well as 4 picks in the 23 to 44 range they used last night. They are now very well set up to cover Daicos plus target other good players in 2021. Their swaps were exceptional.

2020 AFL Draft
Hate to say it but Coll recovered from their trade period disasters. They started with picks: 14, 16, 65, 66, 68 of any potential value. Somehow they converted them (and their 2021 1st pick) to picks 17, 19, 23, 30, 31 and 44 (after matched picks). And their draftees included the highly touted Macrae, Henry and Mc Innes. Excellent pick swapping and drafting. They did very, very well.

Simon's pass mark for 2021?...
In his 6 years Goodwin has had 4 experienced senior coaches mentor him or assist him: Two premiership coaches, 1 assistant premiership coach. Has any coach ever had the luxury of such experience? We addressed our small fwd and wingman needs last night. No gaps on the list. Yes, always room for improvement but no gaps. We now have our premiership list. Injuries and covid aside, the things that have held us back in the last few years imv were: a poor/inexperienced coaching panel (in particular the line coaches), sports science, an inconsistent and confusing game plan, list gaps. Three of those 4 are now fixed. The game plan is now the issue. Pert has challenged Goodwin to develop a game plan that suits our list. That is the key to our success and it rests with the coach. A pass mark has to be more than comparison to two under performing years. They set a very low bar. Given we made a prelim in 2018, the improvement in the list, its experience, sports science and coaching panel since has been immense. A 2021 pass mark can only be if we go deep into the finals.

Mark Williams New Head of Development
Williams said his initial focus will be on the 1-3 year players. Macca did a very good job with the 2014-2016 recruits. A perfect time for him to arrive for Choco to arrive. Jackson, Kozzie, Rivers, Bowey, Laurie and Rosman are going to love learning from him. We addressed our small fwd and wingman needs last night. No gaps on the list. Yes, always room for improvement but not gaps. We now have our premiership list. Time to make it happen!

2020 Contracts and List Details
We have recruited two flexible small fwds and a flexible wingman. We have addressed our needs. No gaps on the field any longer. Get them to gel. A bit of experience. A consistent game plan. This is our premiership list.

2020 AFL Draft
How did we manage to get that pick swap thru the AFL! We have no pick 1 next year so technically not supposed to trade out any other picks. The 2021 4th round pick was tied to North so if Hawks go up the ladder they have done very well from that pick swap.

2020 AFL Draft
Probably trying to trade out our pick (the old #28)

2020 AFL Draft
That looked a bit nasty by Collingwood. Traded up to bid on Coleman and as soon as Lions matched they traded down again.
-
2020 AFL Draft
Reports were that we were keen on Angwin and Holmes and both gone just before our bids. Grrr. Geelong knew they had to strike before our bids. They also have a bid before our pick #28 (or whatever it is now)

2020 AFL Draft
Is anyone/website tracking the revised draft order as Academy bids are matched. Would like to see what has happened to our #28 and #50.

2020 AFL Draft
They wimped it.
-
2020 AFL Draft
Surprised Ess didn't trade out pick 10. Adelaide bid next and if they bid on McInnes it puts pressure on Coll picks 15 and 17. Will they match!
-
2020 AFL Draft
Reports are they tried to swap #2 with the Hawks (4 and 24) but Hawks lost interest.

2020 AFL Draft
The early Hawk bid on Campbell will have Sydney scrambling for points - they may want our pick 50 for a future pick to us..
