  1. As Voss tested + on Friday morning how is it that all those in the coaches box on Thursday night aren't in iso as close contacts?
  2. 10 Christian Petracca (MELB) 6 Aaron Naughton (WB) 6 Ben Brown (MELB) 4 Bailey Smith (WB) 3 Clayton Oliver (MELB) 1 Ed Langdon (MELB) A little trickier to work out how the votes split by coach, this week. I make it: 5/5 Petracca 3/3 and 4/2 Naughton/Brown 4/0 Smith 2/1 Oliver 1/0 Langdon A fairly even assessment except that one coach rated Smith 2nd BOG and the other didn't rate him at all. If my split is correct I would say Beveridge gave Smith the 4. Edit: An alternative split is in @titan_uranus's post below which I'm copying here: Could also be that Naughton and Brown were both 4/2, Smith was 3/1, Oliver the other 3 and Langdon the other 1. This split looks a better reflection of the game than my first guess. On this basis the voting is more even and Smith wouldn't be 2nd BOG but even with Oliver. 3. Imagine the panic with this list of outs a year ago. No more MFCSS!!

  6. For leadership experience and to marshal the troops that Lever usually does ie mids rolling back and the half backs. May marshals those around him.
  7. We would host it but unlikely to be at Casey Fields. More likely Marvel stadium. A few years ago Crows got a 40k+ crowd at Adelaide Oval for their final. Technically we lose the Home ground advantage but given how we played in Perth with no wind a closed roof Marvel might suit us very well, if we get there.
  8. I thought that also, perhaps to play on Salem but he stayed fwd even when Salem went off. I also wondered if JJ late out forced them to move a mid back to make room for Hunter. Or maybe he is just getting slow or as you say on the outer a bit. Whatever it was it was a very poor game from him.
  9. Anyone know when tickets for the ANZAC Eve game go on sale?
  10. Jaded, sure you don't mean Hunt on Rankine and May on Lukosius? Big mismatch otherwise. Hunt has the speed to match Rankine and May has the height and strength to match Lukosius.
  11. I hope they abide by the 'potential for injury' part of the assessment which they made a song and dance about. Not holding my breath.
  12. Salem will be a loss. However, Brayshaw filled the role of playmaker/rebound defender exceptionally well. I prefer Gus on the wing but if JJ can hold down that role then Gus will be a very good replacement for Salem, sans the silk. While I don't put a lot of store on stats, Gus was our 4th best player and he kept Liberatore quiet when he played forward not that Libba showed a lot of interest. With Salem out the Bulldogs underestimated Brayshaw. I wouldn't be surprised if we give Lever another weeks rest and keep TMc down back then bring in Weideman to play fwd. I wouldn't mind seeing Laurie play so hope he gets an opportunity soon as the med sub perhaps.
  13. Updated for two of our youngest Premiership ๐Ÿ† players: Bowey and Sparrow. Both have extended for two years until end of 2024.
  14. Surely Rioli will get weeks for that bump on Rowell. Lined him up, late, no attempt to spoil the mark, leapt off the ground and hip to the head.
  15. Quite right; a typo of sorts, on my part. Libba played forward for much of the match, looking rather sulky guarded successfully by Gus. Re the 60 pts. It was something Lever or May said in an interview around the middle of last year. They pride themselves on keeping ops to that score. There was a DL thread at the time but I can't find it atmo.
  16. It has become a 'cult' victory song for sporting teams around the world. Melbourne Victory play it at their stadium after they win a game.
  17. Eagles are discovering how irksome is the 'graveyard' time slot: โ€œOne of the things that drives us mad is these late games on a Sunday,โ€ he said. โ€œItโ€™s not just our country members... Iโ€™ve got a lot of mates who are in the bush and telling us โ€˜We just canโ€™t get to the gameโ€™. I hate that. โ€œItโ€™s not the right thing to do, given there would be people in Melbourne who donโ€™t realise how vast out State is and how far people have to drive or fly to get here. Only complicating matters is the fact that Monday is a school day, which Nisbett added makes it โ€œextremely difficult for familiesโ€ to make the trip for Eagles games". fixtures-draw-west-coast-eagles My heart bleeds. Not.
  18. Have been away since Wednesday so tbh I haven't tried to solve them. I was surprised to open this thread this morning and not see the answers posted so now I'm just curious. Not sure why the lads are just dragging it out...
  19. @Mazer Rackhamand @La Dee-vina Comediacan we have the answers please?
  20. As i intimated in my post above, Beveridge would have been filthy on the Lever selection ruse which he learnt only one hour before the game. Then they got done over in the first qtr, done over in the last and shown up on a big stage again. The ABC reported that he could be heard being emotional from outside the box during the game. All up, it is no surprise he went into the press conf all snarly and then completely lost the plot. I guess his press conf was a deflection of their poor game that went to far. But losing control of one's emotions like that is not good. And he made damn sure he got no questions on the game by walking out. It must have received some internal discussion as his CEO said: โ€œWe donโ€™t have any doubts about him being in the right frame of mind to coach the team on an ongoing basis.โ€ And the backdrop for his apology video had no sponsor logos which says a lot about where their sponsors are at. On a serious note he could take a leaf from Goodwin's book 12-15 months ago: Treat everything in the media (good and bad) as Fugazzi. Acknowledge one's anxieties and weaknesses. Gain perspective Seek the right help. Stay calm I hope he is ok. Would hate to see him go down the path of Rhys Shaw who unravelled before our eyes.
  21. My take on the game: Rapt to see Bowey get his first goal. Libba played in defence a lot of the game, guarded by Gus so made our job of mananging him in the middle a lot easier. He looked very sulky. They didn't miss him in the middle as they won the clearances hands down. But he did next to nothing in defence. Max and to a lesser extent Jackson tapped far too many balls straight to Bulldog mids. If Oliver and Gawn continue to give up so many frees it will hurt their Brownlow chances as umps will most probably look at them unfavourably when considering the 'fairest' part of the award for voting. Last year our defence target was to not give up more than 60pts. We missed that by a smallish margin; a phenomenal effort with a backline that has rarely, if ever, played all together. Goodwin said that Lever's injury happened on Sunday. Yet they named him on Tuesday night and withdrew him one hour before the game. I can imagine this sent Beveridge ballistic as they would have put a lot of planning into how to neutralise Lever. Wasted effort requiring some fleet of foot changes. They failed miserably to take advantage of his absence. Gus was really good as a rebounding defender but hope he goes back to the wing. An aspect of Kozzie's work which is overlooked is how he mows down a player about to tackle his teammate going for the ball. He did it to Dunkley in the GF allowing Petracca to get that well-timed goal. This week he did it again when a bulldog (not sure the player) was about to tackle Langdon. The result: Langdon goaled. This work that Kozzie does probably is counted only in the 1% stats but gee it is so much more valuable. I really like that at the breaks the music was toned down. Daisy did another great job with her comments. I like the 'behind the goals vision' for some of the goals. Great way to start the year.
  22. If the bulldogs come out all aggro they will most likely crash and bash into Max ala Port a few years ago, then try to smash Oliver and maybe Salem. They have little chance of belting Petracca, most players can't even pull off a tackle. Even Fritsch might get a serve. Not sure who their really aggro players are, maybe Libba, Hunter and Martin. Our players will be ready. I just hope the umpires don't go easy on the bulldogs throwing, ducking and flicking and have got over making an example of us with the new 50m rules. Can't find who the umpires are. Hope it isn't the guy who felt slighted by Tomlinson and paid a 50. Gavine, I think.
  23. Or our resting ruckman sticks to him whether he is on or off the field. Lots of options :-)
