  1. Kudos for noticing Tomlinson's game times.
  2. That is why policy makers need to make them accountable. At least put the spotlight/blowtorch on them.
  3. Its amazing how they can piggy back private computers to access the electricity. Even where electricity is cheap it is still a massive carbon footprint. Policy makers, activists etc are so busy focusing on fossil fuels, global warming in general terms they aren't placing accountability where it lies. Bitcoin et al should have as much heat on them as AGL.
  4. Tips from AFL folk: Port Adelaide 2-10 Melbourne Geelong 6-6 Brisbane Sydney 12-0 North Melbourne Collingwood 12-0 West Coast Richmond 0-12 Western Bulldogs Fremantle 9-3 Greater Western Sydney Essendon 12-0 Adelaide Hawthorn 4-8 St Kilda Gold Coast 0-12 Carlton Surprised at the lack of confidence in Richmond, Adelaide and to some extent GWS, and Hawks. The result I wish for the most is for Lions to beat the little cats on their own turf.
  5. Listening to the Yze podcast it sounds like Jackson isn't going anywhere. Albeit he didn't mention contracts but he talked quite a bit about his role going forward and supporting Max. No hesitation or qualifiers at all in that conversation.
  6. Can't imagine the club would mess with anything to do with covid rules. There is no reason for 'convenience'. Someone had to give way for Lever and its a high chance it would have been Smith.
  7. Just listening to the Yze podcast and he talks about mids/rucks going forward. It was once a 'resting' role but we expect those players to contribute when forward which means do all the defensive work, GA and if poss kick goals themselves. Its another way to make max use of our rotations.
  8. A day of reckoning will come for cryptocurrencies and NFT's when someone decides to make them accountable for the carbon footprint. For Bitcoin: "...the carbon footprint of Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency, is equivalent to that of New Zealand, with both emitting nearly 37 megatons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every year." https://www.downtoearth.org.in/blog/environment/as-cryptocurrency-becomes-mainstream-its-carbon-footprint-can-t-be-ignored-81118 "Offsetting Bitcoin’s carbon footprint would require planting 300 million new trees" https://fortune.com/2021/11/06/offsetting-bitcoins-carbon-footprint-would-require-planting-300-million-new-trees/ And bitcoin is but one player in this digital space. Until fossil fuel use for electricity is minimised cryptos, NFT's etc will churn through unfathomable amounts of electricity with the accompanying environmental problems.
  9. We play well at AO. Port are still shell shocked from the Prelim and being 0-3. No Aliir Aliir. No Dixon. Spine is broken. No evidence they can rope in ops momentum so we get a few early goals and I doubt they can come back. A few early goals will silence any Port supporters that venture out AO. Dees by 35 points.
  10. That is a huge benefit for us as it enables us to rotate our mids and 'sore' players more often. Ops don't have that luxury. Tomlinson hasn't had enough credit on here for that effort mainly because none of us have noticed.
  11. Port have a habit of physically targetting our players, especially Max. Lycett worked him over when at the Eagles in the 2018 Prelim. He and others did they same in round 1 2019. Even debutantes crashed into him at every opportunity. They repeated the dose in 2020 when we came off a 4 day break. They also targetted other players in that game. I hope Max and the team have not forgotten. Would love to see a few classic May, Viney et al tackles in the first 10 minutes ala the WB GF, to knock the stuffing out of a few players. All that aside, Port are missing their bookends (Dixon and Aliir Aliir) and their midfield aren't playing with a lot of confidence. Dees by 35 points.
  12. The AFL is planning to create NFT's starting with Buddy's 1000th goal and sell them. They can be on-sold. They are a speculative 'investment'. Anyone can create one. But they don't exist in any sort of physical form; a bit like cryptocurrencies. I doubt this will help but it was the most stratight forward definition I could find... Nonfungible tokens are units of data that represent a unique digital asset stored and verified on the blockchain. These examples of multimillion $ NFT's will blow your mind: https://decrypt.co/62898/most-expensive-nfts-ever-sold
  13. PORT ADELAIDE In: T.Clurey Out: S.Skinner (omitted), M.Frederick (omitted) Last week's sub: M.Frederick (replaced S.Skinner) MELBOURNE In: J.Lever Out: J.Smith (HS Protocol), T.Bedford (Medi-Sub) Last week's sub: Toby Bedford. Emergencies: [12] Toby Bedford, [22] Blake Howes, [27] Luke Dunstan, [37] Kade Chandler A nice surprise to see Howes as an emergency!
  14. A bit like Robbie Grey: not been out of iso long enough.
  15. "In the Preliminary Final, Melbourne became the first team since 1992 to defeat Geelong 3 times in a season" "Melbourne’s minor premiership to Grand Final strike rate is a perfect 10/10"
  16. Taylor Adams tests positive. star-pie-tests-positive-to-covid-ruled-out-of-eagles-clash With De Goey suspended the Eagles might beat the Pies this weekend. An interesting insight: McRae also revealed that only five of his players have yet to contract the virus.
  17. Rutten in iso as a close contact. caracella-to-coach-the-bombers
  18. I don't know. I don't think Tayla Harris got paid for her iconic image but the AFL made tons of $ from the promotion of AFLW because of it. Will Buddy? Depends how one interprets the McLachan's comment I posted above.
  19. In his press conf Goodwin said something about Brown being in iso and not being able to see him at the club. I assume this is to do with measurements and monitoring of players during exercise, recovery etc. Or if they wanted to work on some tactics for Port. So the iso may work against him if he wasn't able to do or be monitored for a certain amount of exercise. And the club won't 'see him' until a few hours before the game. To be on the safe side, maybe they list him on the bench or as an emergency then assess him when he gets to SA, if he does go over. The AFL may need to be a bit flexible on its rules around late changes in the current covid environment.
  20. A by-product of this is the long standing AFL policies that players have no rights to any images taken of them. As it is that article is not very clear as to whether a player in this case Buddy gets any $ for the NFT's. It says 20% was negotiated with the AFLPA but not sure if that is for the AFLPA, Club or Player. How do others interpret this from McLachlan: “There’s an arrangement between us and the players’ association that’s been reached in the last couple of days. They’ll take 20 per cent, and then if clubs or individuals, an additional 5 per cent for marketing of the product, and there’s obviously our partnership with [software company] Animoca,” he said. I can see in future players agitating with the AFLPA to give them back their rights for images of them doing something special or iconic images eg The famous Tayla Harris kick.
  21. I wondered how long it would take for someone to post that connection! You take first prize, Ds!!
  22. NFT's are a weird thing. Can't do much with them except store them on a digital device. So value is in the scarcity and hope the value goes up. Presumably the AFL will release only one NFT for each image to not dilute value. Copyright doesn't transfer to the NFT holder. One would hope they just aren't the latest fad. Would rather buy something tangible or the original.
  23. Montana lost her 1 game suspension appeal. Understandably she is shattered that she isn't playing on Saturday. Adelaide have the option to appeal further, presumably to a non-AFL court...? Anyone know what impact her absence may have on the Crows team?
  24. Can I double check the 9.am tomorrow time as AFL website says 11.00 am https://www.afl.com.au/tickets/onsale-dates/toyota-afl-premiership-season Round 6-9 (Incl ANZAC Day) MCG Tuesday, April 5 9am – MCC Members 1pm – AFL Members 2pm – Club Members Wednesday, April 6 11am – General Public
