And there were several 'marks' paid to Carlton where the commentators said the ball hadn't travelled 10m let alone 15! Helped change the momentum toward Carlton. Thankfully, the Saints just kept going and fighting then prevailed, regardless.

This plan may just work! 2026-vision-afl-s-plan-to-make-a-tasmanian-team-instantly-competitive Thankfully, we are in our premiership window now. Five more years to add to our silverware before the Tassie concessions and dilution of the draft pool kicks in!

Watch it live! If we lose It will be less of a shock than learning it after the event. Live will be a slow build up to the result! 🙄 Wishing you a speedy return to good health.

I counted at least 3 frees to Curnow and McKay for 'holding', near or inside the 50m mark. In each case they were holding each other. One to Curnow was really late in the game and had he goaled Carlton would have lead. Curnow and McKay have learnt to hold/lock arms with their defender and then go to run forward without letting go and it looks like they are being held. Blues now only 9 behind Bulldogs on the 'Free Kick Ladder'! #bluesfreekickwatch!!

The only thing that concerns me is the inside info Burgess has on our player stengths/weakeness, game structures etc. Crows will be all out to get a fast start. We will need to be alert early for new tactics, after all they surprised us with a winning game plan last year, without Burgess. If we can get the fast start, kick straight and take the crowd noise out we will be well on our way. Had hoped this would be a % booster and we win by the 6-8 goals. Now thinking a win of 3-4 goals, even without a recognised ruckman. A game to bank the 4 points and move on.

Interesting. Adelaide were pretty keen on Chandler last year but he decided to stay. He may think about it again this year with, as you say, Bedford getting games and Laurie in the wings.
-
They need a tall defender desprately. They recruited Naughton as a defender so maybe they plan to move him back as Darcy, JU-H develop and they get Bruce back.

It seems Lobb is all but signed up with the Bulldogs so he wouldn't be part of any trade, if there was to be one.

Thank you. But it disappeared off the 'front' (Home) page of the AFL website pretty quickly! I couldn't find it on the 'front' (Home) page last night or this morning... I bet the media will go ga-ga when De Goey signs with a club and he has done little that is positively newsworthy. Generally, I still feel he is underappreciated and under applauded in the media.

Thanks. Your thoughts sums it up really well. Maybe Baker goes as he has been on the list for 5-6 years and hardly played seniors and we have a few others like him for depth. As Hunt is my equal number one favourite player, I sadly agree he needs to look elsewhere. There was a report yesterday that Turner is on the verge of signing a 2 year contract so will move from the 'rookie' to the 'seniors' list. Chandler will also move from 'rookie' to 'seniors' as he was contracted for an extra year last year.

8.00am. Still nothing on AFL website on Oliver's contract, yet lots of articles on minor selection decisions. Barely rates a mention on Fox and the Age web sites . Arguable the best player and the most sort after if OOC, signs for life and it isn't news? Not Big news! He is chronically underappreciated. He deserves far more recognition and accolades. Edit. Refers to AFL 'Home' page of their website.

Can we have all 3 episodes NOW. Please.

LOL! Yes, facing Viney, Oliver and Petracca in their prime is the stuff of nightmares so Gus should stay (which I think he will).

What They Are Saying at West Lakes
Lucifers Hero replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Never fear Mr G. They don't have Seedsman this year. We will be ready for their 'charge the defence through the corridor' tactic. Also, we have now learnt to defend a lead so they won't beat us again in the final 8 minutes after being 16 points down. With a bit of luck it will be umpired better not that it should have come to that, last year. Dees by 6-8 goals! -
OK. A few minutes away from all the contract talk; there is a game to be played in a few days! This thread is a bit late this week as not much to report. The bf posters seem fixated with selections and very little about the game/opposition. A bit of pessimism no optimism. We need ruck cover or Melbourne will destroy us, if we play Murray again our defence will get opened up. They can't accept ROB getting smashed every week. Jackson will destroy him with his athleticism and pace. At least Murray has a bloody good leap on him and will compete at centre bounces Not complaining about the ruck, he impacted really well. but if we go with just Butts as a tall while he rucks we will get opened up down back. North didn't make us pay, Melbourne will. If he (Crouch) plays melbourne will isolate fritsch on him and fritsch will kick 8 on him. Clubs wont let him be an intercept, they will play through his man and work a favorable match up if we pick Frampton, Melbourne will stick someone (like Fritsch) on him and tell the mids to play through Frampton who is not good one-on-one. Nathan Schmook on afl.com seems to think a Newchurch debut (for McAdam) should be a lock. His call is Newchurch for McAdam, Jones for Hamill and and Thilthorpe to return for McHenry. Nah, this will be a lot closer than anyone will believe. We match up so well on them, particularly in the mid field.... wait. My favourite: We would get done for tanking playing Davis.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND: DANIEL TURNER
Lucifers Hero replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
There are a few around the world nicknamed 'Disco Dan'; maybe our Disco was 'named' after one of them... -
It makes a nice change from all the years when the Trade and Draft Board would be open by now!!
-
It could be a nice touch if we announce his contract extension in late July, just a few days before we play Freo in Perth.
-
Updating the Tables, of course! For Daw and Oliver. Clarrie had one more year to go on his contract and would be a Free Agent. The 7 year extension keeps him a Demon for another 8 years!! It is fantastic that he has signed now which eliminates all the FA noise in 2023. He can just continue playing great footy with no distractions. He will still be only 32 when this contract expires. Well done to Clarrie. And best wishes to Majak.
-
By signing now he takes all the 'fugazi' out of next year, his Free Agency year and everyone can just get on and play football.
