  1. Vince will replace Brayshaw. Unlucky to miss out & will be back soon. Dawes will replace Toumpas.
  2. Spot on Bossdog. I used to watch most games that came on TV now I watch very few. A lot of teams are horrible to watch. My 3 boys (14,15 & 17) would now rather watch Rugby League or soccer instead of AFL. Compared to the fast flowing games of the 80's & 90's todays footy is a rolling scrum with 28-30 players following the ball around everywhere. I reckon the interchange has a lot to answer for & i'd like to eliminate interchange completely - the trouble is everytime the AFL tries to do something the coaches whinge & the AFL chickens out. They will only do something if the number of viewers & attendances decline.
  3. Robbie's life was celebrated after he passed away. It was done appropriately and beautifully. In the future hopefully some lasting memorial like a statue would be good however I'm not in favour of an annual commemoration I think that would be tacky.
  4. We all have our fingers crossed for him. With some luck I reckon he can still be a 200 game player - won't be a superstar but hopefully a solid performer. Its all up to whether his body stands up.
  5. If we approach the game thinking we will win because Ablett isn't playing we will get belted. In the last 3-4 years Melbourne has lost almost every game that we thought we would win. The only games we have won are where we were the clear underdogs.
  6. 4th in the B&F 2 years ago. Knows how to find the ball but decision making & disposal sometimes erratic. Where is he ? Hasn't played NAB Cup. Hasn't played for Casey. Not on the injury list ????
  7. These communications glitches are often a marker of the difference between the successful Clubs & the ones down the bottom. Generally the Club has improved in this area. I can remember in the mid 90's they would invariably stuff up the memberships. I recall about 12 years ago ringing up wanting to donate $$ to the Club and being told to ring the next day because the person that sorted donations out was away.
  8. He played in both key defensive & forward positions & kicked over 100 goals.
  9. Not a hanging offence but geez its disappointing. Jeff is not a kid any more - he is a big boy now. A bit like the other problem he had at Carlton. his first instinct seems to be to tell fibs rather than 'fess up. He had a moral if not legal obligation to tell Melbourne about this matter. Where we are coming from we just do not want ratbags at the Club I don't care if they are good footballers because ratbags will eventually bring the Club down. He should be fined or stood down for a game for not disclosing.
  10. Just logged on here to look at some some footy & it seems its a private site for a few mates - seriously can't you people maybe just email each other instead of clogging the site up with personal chit chat.
  11. The most important thing that Peter Jackson can do for the Club is to make sure that when he leaves he either lines up a top notch replacement or has trained somebody to take his place. We need a continuity of good CEO's to ensure our success because the quality of the Club's CEO's over the past 25 years has been from dreadful to very ordinary.
  12. Well its obvious to everyone that your opinions won't change - a bit like climate change deniers & those that think the moon landing was faked.. If I get cancer I'll tell my oncologist he' hasn't got a clue - its all due to the decomposing possums & their droppings.
  13. Gives it 100% but skills & disposal are inconsistent & decision making sometimes poor. In another era or in a quality side he would a Ben Beams ie a solid VFL player who plays 6-8 games a year in the AFL.
  14. "Breathing bad air over a period of time can drop the bodies immune system". What does that mean exactly ?? It's meaningless gibberish or are you maybe an immunologist ? In any case MND has nothing to do with the immune system its about the electrical signals from the brain to the muscles. This is a very silly and vague generalization. You may as well say "they all drove Japanese cars" must be something in the upholstery.
  15. You can't get Motor Neurone from the environment. It is a genetic condition passed down by your parents or grandparents.
  16. There you go MyDee. You don't need a subscription. Just potter along to the pubs on Sukhumvit road & watch the games for free while quaffing a Tooheys Old.
  17. Seems a thoroughly decent fellow who did his best but clearly not up to it. Only got on the Board because he was a friend of Jim. A dreadful blunder not to sack Schwab & Connolly when he had the chance in fact he extended CS's contract.
  18. Stef Martin gets is getting quite a few stats. I'm just not sure how effective he is. He doesn't seem to hurt the opposition at all. He needs to learn how to go forward & kick a goal.
  19. I hate to be pedantic but Gary generally played centre half back whereas the players mentioned above were all full forwards so Gary would not have played on them often. People forget that he was also thrown forward or on the ball & kicked more than 100 goals for us. And Keith Greig was a great footballer.
  20. You guys are in la la land about Campbell. Will never play senior footy again.
  21. Hate to tell you this but Strauss will never make an AFL footballer. The footy world is littered with types like him that always get injured or something happens to them. Next time he strings a couple of decent games together he will get suspended or fall over in the bathroom & break an ankle.
  22. What on earth is wrong with Bailey & his crew rushing back players - its not as if we are lacking in depth. Hawthorn made Luke Hodge have a run in their seconds before bringing him back. We rushed back Frawley & his first match back he was poor then we rushed back Petterd who did ok as the sub but then had a poor match. Not content with this we rushed back Morton who had a shocker as the sub then was reasonable last match. All 3 should have had a run at Casey.
  23. Dumb, dumb, dumb decision to use him as a sub. He's come off an ordinary year & not played for 2 months. Obvious answer is give hima run at Casey just like they should have done with Frawley last week.
  24. Hardly a surprise. A good ordinary player at best. Doesn't have the skills & footy nous to get himself out of trouble. A gutsier version of Daniel Ward I complained bitterly when we recruited him instead of Dylan Grimes. Rivers was poor early on but fought back in the second half & is more versatile.
  25. Cam has been great for Cam I reckon. Anybody who understands probity, good corporate governance & conflict of interest will realise that this episode sucks big time. We have only just got out of debt, a few years ago we could'nt raise money to pay rookies & our trining venue was a dump. Along with lots of supporters I donated $$ to the club to help. I expected this to be used to improve the facilities & the Footy Dpt not to go out as a private loan to someone who earns 6 times what I do.
