Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
I’m thrilled with his development. If you watch the replay of his highlights from the weekend his timing coming back at the ball carrier is excellent. I also don’t think it’s a coincidence that when not battling it out with Brown and Schache he looks more comfortable.

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne
I really liked Riv in the middle. I also thought that was Viney’s best game for months, and Max is just such a competitor. One thing I really noticed last night was how slow we deliberately went forward. I think we decided to support our defensive structure at all costs with Lever out, and it definitely came at the expense of our ball movement. Our tall forwards were all flying in packs of 4-6 players. Our ball movement looked very 22-23. In regards to ball movement I think it’s very obvious that Tracc is a massive loss, particularly forward of the middle. Imagine the Bulldogs without Bont. That’s what we’ve lost. Thinking about him in that way has certainly tempered my expectations for this year.

Waterman has become such a strong player. He really straightens them up.

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne
This where the AFL has the umpiring all wrong. The 50 against Windsor (that had changed to not be a 50 over the last off season) was exactly the same as one that wasn’t paid when Tom MacDonald had a mark 40 metres out from Norths goal 3 minutes later. Afterwards the Melbourne defence went ballistic at the umpire about only paying it one way. Umpire 1. was clearly describing that the faked move handball is no longer a 50. WHICH BEGS THE QUESTION WHY DIDN’T HE STEP IN AND OVERRULE A CLEAR MISTAKE BY HIS PEER? He acknowledged to the players minutes later, so he knew it was wrong. This is why fans are so frustrated.

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne
I was just at the ground. When the siren went I just got up and walked out. The 50 metres to Windsor was right in front of me: to the letter of the law that’s a 50. THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO TMAC 2 MINUTES LATER - AND NO 50. The players were going berserk. The standard of umpiring can’t even be consistent for 3 minutes. The AFL is losing me. The umpiring is so inconsistent. Everyone waffles on about ‘the game is so hard to umpire’. It’s not an accident. It’s happening too often, and making them too much money.

Licking his wounds.

NON-MFC: Round 15
It’s a shame that Carlton supporters make their side so unlikable. I’m convinced they don’t watch any other footy. They still don’t know the rules.

If defence wins Premierships Sydney must be loving this.

Angus Brayshaw Forced into Retirement
I’m not an expert, but I would imagine the AFL doesn’t have control how clubs allocate salary cap per season. So realistically it’s in our best interest to move Gus’ money forward as much as possible. I think what they are trying to do is be fair to clubs immediately impacted, but also make sure clubs make realistic offers to players with concussion history. This is where it starts to get really interesting, because now concussion will start to severely impact a players earning capability, and job security. The players have double the incentive to limit concussion, so the legal exposure to the AFL grows if they don’t change the game to protect their assets. I imagine more and more rule changes are coming.

How typically Melbourne Brodie Grundy
Honestly Grundy has played a handful of good games this year, most of them against D list ruckmen. His game against Max needs to be viewed with the understanding that Gawn was very unwell, and probably shouldn’t have played. If anyone reckons Grundy should still be at the club, and rucking for us, go watch the replay of our gather round game last year against Essendon when Max was injured. Draper absolutely annihilated Grundy, and made him look unfit and lazy. Draper kicked three goals on Grundy purely from out working him. Grundy wasn’t in good form for us last year. It’s not the clubs fault he didn’t do the preparation or have the desire to make it work. He’s a different player this year purely because he wants to be. He was happy to sign the contract last year, but not do much to make it work. It’s boring having to discuss him. Go watch the replays of how he played last year for us. He was poor.

Mick Malthouse "Demons Culture"
I welcome an opinion, but I hope the West Australian didn’t pay too much for that article. It literally has no new information, and even not much of a unique opinion. It’s just a retelling of events. I wish my job was that easy.

NON-MFC: Round 14
The Swans are a talented team, but they are just having one of those seasons where it all really clicks - like us in ‘21, Cats in ‘22, and Pies last year. They have the confidence of a team who are having their year.

NON-MFC: Round 14
I’d have him too. Crows have great smalls coming through I reckon. That’s why they want Petty. When their midfield will be elite they’ll need support behind the ball to genuinely challenge. They want Harry to be their May.

Having the name ‘Chad’. Fair enough too.

NON-MFC: Round 14
You absolutely have to give credit to Richmond supporters today. 92,000 is a huge effort, especially given how uncompetitive they've been all season.

NON-MFC: Round 14
Watson looks average. He carries on like Ginnivan, but at least Jack does some unique things. Watson can't kick.
