  1. A lot of people seem to have missed that the umpire, who sees thousands of ‘football acts’ a week, and was the closest official to the incident, immediately reported Maynard. The bloke whose job it is to oversee the rules was 10 metres away and reported him. That tells you everything. I think the MRO was going to be overhauled anyway, and this will give them the impetus to do it. I’d be shocked if Christian is in that role next year.
  2. Surely this thread should be called ‘Ruckin Roulette’.
  3. Watch Chris Scott on 360 tonight. He specifically says ‘we coach our players not to turn their shoulders in to others as there’s not much we can do to help them then. That’s what we’ve been advised by the AFL’ Before that Ross Lyon was asked if he thought the rules exist, and can be applied, to this incident and without thinking he said ‘They are being applied. That’s why it’s going to the tribunal’. The industry knows. It was a dog act.
  4. It was good. Whateley is articulate and considered. Also very interested when he said as an aside that Brayshaw wanted nothing to do with Maynard Thursday night post game, and was angry. How he feels the AFL will know, and they will know ugly this can get for them.
  5. Garry Lyon got this right tonight on On The Couch. It’s good viewing. He knows they’ll change the rules to legislate this out. Buckley and Brown tried to argue that Maynard had no other option. There’s a disgraceful amount of victim blaming happening in this incident. Talking about Brayshaw moving off his line. Absolute rubbish. I kept screaming at the TV every time they said it was a ‘football act’ to show me one single example of a player doing this in a game in the last 20 years. Players run out of the front of a centre bounce 10 times a game. Thats 35,000 example in 20 years. It’s never happened.
  6. Yeah it’s on Access All Areas. They are talking about who will come in and go out and he literally says ‘we know Angus Brayshaw will miss for other reasons’.
  7. Damien Barrett on the AFL website this morning with Matthew Lloyd says ‘we know Angus Brayshaw will miss this weekend for other reasons’. They don’t even want to say the word concussion. This is becoming laughable. Its cult like.
  8. That’s a great spot to watch the footy 👍
  9. Same 3183, but there’s 3 of us. I think the odd numbers stitched us up. M12 will be rocking on Friday night 👍
  10. Yeah, I’m ok with it. I just love sitting behind the benches on the wing - but so do 100k other people, so I should appreciate what I have! 👍
  11. If you get a bad gateway time out on purchase don’t panic. I got one and then went back and the seats had been paid for and allocated to me.
  12. Do you work for Ticketek? Are you part of the global conspiracy to deny me good finals tickets?! 😂
  13. Not for me it wasn't. I have priority access and could only get 3 tickets in M12. What's left in M50 are singles.
  14. Reserved Seats and Visitor tickets are now sold out for the MCC Reserve for the First Semi Final between Melbourne and Carlton on Friday September 15. No additional visitor tickets will be available for this match.
  15. I agree Kev. I think the AFL is fully aware of how exposed it is to litigation in regards to CTE. It’s no coincidence the new head of football is a former lawyer.
  16. I don’t know about the general public. I think Collingwood people are skewing the media landscape. The Age ran a poll asking people if they thought Maynard had a case to answer and 47% said he did (from over 5k responses). Given the scale of Collingwood’s supporter base, and their level of engagement with current football stories, that tells me that the average punter reckons this is clearly wrong. The landscape for football also needs to shift in order to create growth - both in audiences and participation. More women, more migrants, and more supporters coming from other sports. Those audiences and players want skill and goals, not concussions. The game is changing. The audience is changing. The media response to this is old fashioned, but don’t mistake it for the public consensus.
  17. He’ll be remembered as a Premiership player. I reckon that seems right. I’ll miss yelling out ‘go Pig!’ every week.
