AFL 360 (30/5) - Riewoldt and Murphy
low flying Robbo replied to jumbo returns's topic in Melbourne Demons
i saw a graphic which showed Richmond and Essendon's form this year related to their opponents ladder position last year. Essendon have beaten all opponents who were in finals last year while losing to all non-finals opponents. Richmond have done the opposite... -
I too noticed this. I think Trac had a quiet word with him but it was more of a sympathy thing and not getting stuck into him.
-
It's ok guys I'll take the credit for our turnaround.. My first daughter was born just after the Essendon game. Since then we've been on-song! She's the good luck charm

Is Jed Lamb always such a d!ck or was he putting on a show yesterday?
-
At the start of this year I was talking to one of my clients who is an ex-Melbourne coach and this is the point he was making. He's already good but he hadn't even hit peak fitness yet.

This is why I loathe foxsports "news" (if you can call it that) They have 1 view, no replay, no other angle, but the article is written like it's confirmed that he staged.

I feel sorry for whoever Casey is playing...

I too flicked it on after the Hawks game finished. If it were up to me we'd be watching it but was in a Hawks supporting household. My heart sank when Antonis scored the OG. I figured that was game set and match. So good to see him seal the winner! We haven't been able to beat Sydney in a few years but this one was glorious! Suffer in your jocks Arnie! And Brosque. Love to see those smug pricks miss out on the GF. So much arrogance in the Sydney camp.

The worst part of my night last night was having to sit in front of an endure the worst afl supporter in history... EVERY single play where we won out, had to be a free kick... not most... but every one! I know all of us are one-eyed at times but this guy was so bad I'm surprised he didn't have a parrot on his shoulder and a peg leg.. He kept referring to Jeffy as a cheat so I turned around and asked him to explain himself. He said "it's cos he always cheats out the back for easy goals". I told him to re-educate himself on how the game is played and look up what a "crumbing forward" was.. Everyone around me kept sighing and rolling their eyes whenever he opened his mouth. Then of course he moved on to comments about the ski season. Why are Richmond supports all so arrogant? In the end I was hoping we got up purely to give him the send off he deserved....

As someone else has stated, he lunges forward when he fends so he puts all his force behind it. This is why it works so well

Make him lead to the opposite side of the ground and take Rance out of the contest -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 5
low flying Robbo replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ok so Bugg and Lewis are definite outs. Hunt and Weids look like potential INs. Any others? If Balic and Stretch are not in are they just rested? -
Textbook way to get around the dont argue... Although these days he would probably get a free for dangerous tackle

Shepherding the man on the mark
low flying Robbo replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm talking about the other boundary umpire down that boundary line -
I'm going to concentrate on the fact that Jones held Mitchell to 24 touches. Thats a win

Shepherding the man on the mark

Something I want to see taught is when you are manning the mark, as soon as play on is called, sprint towards the kicker, even if it's just 1 or 2 steps then steady yourself if the guy tries to get around you. Hopefully this will result in more smothers or at least putting pressure on the kicker. Too many times play on is called and the man on the mark just stands there or slowly moves forward. Put some pressure on them! -

I've said all along that on angled shots for goal, the non-officiating boundary umpire needs to line up directly behind the kicker in the straight line to the goals. If the kicker edges around, play on is called. The field umpire can never see the edging off the straight line -
I noticed quite a bit that we had men on the wings while hawthorn sometimes had 3 extra men in their backline. The guys at the centre bounce didn't adjust and try to get the ball out sideways.

Notice the silence from Eddie...

Danger will probably play. Probably just an overreaction just like that game last year where you would have thought his foot was broken in 8 different places with the way he carried on... kept playing...
-
I’ve been on his band wagon since seeing him play last year. Was good to see him bring it at senior level yesterday. As someone else has stated, he could have kicked 6. Loved his attack on the marking contest when outnumbered too!

I said that going into the game. Knew he was going to give us a pasting -

We seem to get a lot of junk time frees when the game is dead... -
The Jack Viney Made Me Cry Thread
low flying Robbo replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
I love that Viney didn't even throw anything. It was pure intimidation against stringer -
ah fair enough. I'm not a Telstra member so don't have access to them anymore...
