  1. As an adherent of the Chaos Theory, I have some affinity with the volume approach. However I also ascribe to the theory patterns that that the components lead to the outcomes , most specifically the bifurcations are subject to the strange attractor. We must identify that strange attractor, I have posited that it was Trac, but in reality it could be other factors or we would score goals every 5.5333 times we attack. Of course the theory is developed from large data analysis and so we may be the victim of previous periods of accuracy which is now being compensated for to came back to the magical number.
  2. Circuitous affirmation!
  3. These are all positive comments and show the breadth of performance that coaches are looking at. There's an obvious development trend there so good. I assume the negatives or areas to improve are also examined with as much analysis and feedback given to the individuals. there are some extremely good comments which indicate where the experience is being acknowledged and how this can eb an example for the newer players, building confidence and ability.
  4. all good points and a consequence of evolution. As a player is recognised they are also treated differently, double teamed etc and so it is more important than ever that the team they are in and the structures and patterns they are in also evolve. Cameron seems to ba an example. Teamates must run patterns that leave more space for Key forward. Teamates must take opponents out of contests to create space or alternatively use the space created by KF. Teamates must block legally and run across contests. Aplyer like Fritsch or Jefferson can use a late run at a contest if their opponent goes to the contest with JVR. OF course the umpires will also evolve and when they once paid chopping free kicks in contests they rarely do now. BBB was a beneficiary of this while at North but inexplicably the interpretation seemed to change when he joined Deees. All KF were affected (Naughton esp) as they then paid it less. I am not criticising umpires but maintain that the club should have sessions with the umpires to establish what we are doing wrong to not receive free kicks for what seem to be infraction s against us while we give way similar frees.
  5. Glad you mentioned it. Must pack the dun screen.
  6. I think you nailed it with the bolded bit. I was certainly of the same opinion. They also do some fantastic and positive things. So can the Demons
  7. Gee things are certainly getting interesting at training. Wish I could come down and enjoy the hierarchy battles. Ive often said in appreciating the commitment, dedication and passion of all trackwatchers that if the players displayed the same qualities we would be unstoppable. I think you are again proving that point. And I do agree that the club should have operatives with greater abilities than Dlanders but once again I am impressed wiith the degree of resident knowledge. It would be good to have that discussion I was trying to encourage but can certainly understand the reluctance when likely outcome would be more frustration and shouting into the abyss.
  8. mate in SA , ex player at ammos lvel and still participates , was dead against this rule when it was bought in. Now is fully supportive says it takes the decision making out of umpires and also has resulted in many less OOB. Players adapt.
  9. I took the same advice on Fishermans Bend.
  10. yeh I understand. But I do agree with some of what he says. Often find myself yelling the same thing over and over. I do try and support the cheer squad too
  11. Would like to have a talk with you someday. Im away at the moment but normally sit in N3 at the G
  12. And is it ever too cold to practice kicking a goal?????
  13. Lets hope its not too cold when we play the pies!
  14. Im feeling a bit remote being in Japan at present. Upside is I am having plenty of time to review Dland, (or unfortunate for Picket fence who I have been trying to get to training and see if he can improve kicking) however....... I was surprised to see, in the fresh fruit market of Kanasawa (along with some mysterious items that may have been fruit, vegetable, mineral or plastic facsimiles) all labelled in JApanese (a language as foreign to me as Collingwood praise) bananas wrapped in cellophane. They were wrapped individually in packs of two and packs of three. I purchased a pack of two but couldnt release them from the cellophane. The wonderful sales person, (seeing my difficulty) cut the wrapping with a fine shinto blade and with much gesturing and pointing, instructed and assisted me in the disposal of the wrapping and the peel. Every aspect of the transaction was done with such authority and efficiency that I feel she could assist the players in goal kicking, Alternatively she could immediately take over the Lever role in the back line< her gesturing was very much above par.
  15. Thanks. Just referenced you in another thread to get down to training. Youve got some good techniques and there are some interesting ideas coming from others that you should be able to present.
  16. Did you get to practice Picket \? I really feel there are some good suggestions here and if you were not gilding the lilly you should be able to get some real traction with the boys. I have seen how passionate you have been over the years and would be great to see the club embrace some DLand love.
  17. GW is Picket fence there to ais goal kicking discussion?
  18. Im sure you can suggest that when you talk about their Kicking for goal. Id support you with that as well. By the way Hows Jeffos kicking action? Saw a comment which seemed to say he was ok.
  19. I like some of what you say but my team B: Lever May, McVee HB SAlem T Mac Bowey C Windsor Oliver LanGdon HF Lindsay Turner Sparrow F Fritsch JVR Pickett Fol Gawn Petracca Viney/Rivers Ic Langford Chandler Jefferson LAurie /Rivers ?Sestan Sub Petty Lever May the old team need to get there mojo working Tmac provides the reliable tall Salem Bowey Mc Vee tighten up the smalls Turner or Petty can be changed back if needed Fritsch and Jefferson rotate off bench as do Langford Lindsay Chandler and Sparrow pinch hit rotation Rivers defiite in depends on Viney condition Maybe Sestan instaed of Laurie but wary of too many inexperienced against hardened Brutal Pies.
  20. Pickett Get down to the ground and give em some coaching .. See the goody thread.
  21. Touche. The topic (we must kick more goals ) is and PF aside the answer not so.
  22. It is indeed an interesting problem. I and others have been wanting some force and vigour shown but I think more than any other club we have an acute awareness of how that vigour must be applied. Therefore I think the club should publicly defend the penalty and institute some training protocols for all our players. We could ask the AFL to assist us in this endeavour by examining the many contradictory approaches of other players over the last few years, not just our club but all clubs. We can also ask the tribunal for some assistance in this vexed issue and seek some clarity on the decisions of (the whatever title he has) Christian to explain the definition of football act and how that is applied. Beginning players like JVR and AJ seem to be more harshly reviewed and sanctioned than other more experienced players, so perhaps the tribunal sees this as part of its development role. It could be reminded that older more experienced players in fact set the example of football acts and perhaps they need to be included in that training and development issue. A file of Maynard and Collingwood vigour over the last few years would be an admirable place to start. I am sure there are some technological experts on DLand who could provide a folder of evidence.
  23. Well Im still positive. I've had my issues with strategy, structure, selections and gameplans, but I must say that a team that beats Brisbane Sydney etc, should be able to beat most teams. Why dont they??? Well wish I knew and with the dominance that we showed against Hawthorn and the shots at goal we have created all my concerns are really almost seen as irrelevant. My mate Ive been going to the games with for years has maintained our skill levels are deficient for most years even when we have won. Kicking is a part of the skill set footballers must have. It can be practised and it can be improved. Pickett Fence has given some excellent advice and I really would encourage him to approach the coaching staff, perhaps with GW in attendance to add support and have a serious discussion with the professionals who should as PF states be able to have that discussion in an unthreatening and informative fashion. Perhaps he can teach the new generation something or perhaps they can add to his and GW knowledge. Id be interested in he outcomes of that approach. Also technique and Biomechanics aside, (which you'd reckon the new age coaches would be all over),the mind is a mighty fragile at times thing (for want of a better word). Obviously it can and is mighty strong for all elite performers. Surely the club has people who are able to address this portion of goal kicking and provide measures to fix this Fn issue. We must kick more goals. its pretty bloody simple. Goals not only instil confidence they also apply pressure on opponents. Get to it Goody. Most of us are with you and if we can kick more goals than our opponents every week we will all be with you.
  24. Im certainly not a Petty hater and would certainly never say he is not invested. But I feel he is over rated. He has had some really good games and some really ordinary games. I thought last week he often ran around looking for an opponent. He was often pointing and was late to contests. He did contribute to some packs and disrupted other players in bringing the ball to ground. He also contributed in the last term by having 2 opponents which freed someone up. It meant he often took 2 players away from the contest. Whether this was by design or just an outcome of Sydneys set up I dont know.. we were so dominant that I was not sure what he contributed. other than that. I have been selecting him as the sub as I feel he can add real value to attack or defence (although I think he is a better more natural defender.) he can add a real alternative weapon as sub to eitrher end and he is not too shabby on the ground. I have seen him lope around and also seen him close ground quickly so has spped and endurance. There is no doubt he has value which may be why Adelaide expressed interest last year.
