  1. As Ipostulated in other threads. It's about tapering and peaking. Our finals season has begun.
  2. Pederson the big body chf creating chaos and space. T Mac the mobile ff Weiderman the slight body high marking Forward pocket changing on ball with Gawn. Return to old fashioned structures.
  3. Have laboured my way through tnis thread and wonder if I watch the same player. Hogan demands attention. Other sides recognise that. Top sides are better at double teaming or structuring to counter him. i cannot understand how when he is double teamed we still kick it to him. Someone else must be free . Where is our structure and game plan and specifically plan B when A is not working
  4. I agree and wonder if the issues of pressure and the reaction are being addressed. From the moment the pre season camp which is supposed to address that issue, was canceled have we reminded the players that they believed they did not need it. What have they done to replace the "learnings " of that exercise? Maybe it's time to remind the players that this is TheVine pressure that finals bring. Win the next two and springboard from there. I am still very much in the tapering /peaking model where we have lost the close ones against good sides and now really need to beat them. Maybe the players know exactly how many big wins they have in them and are pacing themselves perfectly.
  5. Thanks all for comprehensive cover. your efforts are really appreciated
  6. Started this the other day and the site crashed and I lost it so I'll try again without reading the whole thread. I hope Goodwin is smarter than most. He does have more experience than most. I hope he understands tapering and peaking. We have shown that when we play our best we can beat anyone, and score heavily. We were 5 goals up at Cardinia park. If we play and win all these games by goals we become the hunted. We are now the chokers. Let the others concentrate on that. remind the players they refused the pre season mental toughness experience . We have maintained our % unlike last year and now limp into the eight to then produce our best for six or seven games. Too smart????
  7. Can anyone tell me where Munro came from? And any details ?
  8. Same conditions at Beechworth. The boys and girls on netball courts were spectacular. Not sure if hypothermia identified but certainly would have been a close thing. Glad to be watching and not playing. I did stay outside and not retreat to the pavilion tho. Thanks for report Drunkn. It's great to have your insight. Thought your preview was excellent.
  9. Concentrating on Positive ball movement is good but it needs to be a part of training to be instinctive and occur under pressure. After learning the routine it should then be practised under the same me condition it is to be used under extreme pressure. Surprised it isn't done!
  10. Late to comment but thanks for all contributors. Just a question to anyone When training do the groups undertake the task with pressure being applied and are they asked to perform with intensity? It seems as soon as the pressure of a game is applied they seem to lose accuracy especially and fumble.
  11. Saw that as well. if applied to all clubs will limit the show which could be a good thing. AFL would love the show as it allows enough breaks for adverts and loves talking about Collingwood. They may not play a team above ten in the run home with their soft draw, so will be interesting
  12. I watch what's on tv and listen on the radio. Whoever is on. i never hear the commentators querying bizarre umpiring efforts or inexplicable patches of play when play on or wrong player gets free asi do when Melbourne play. Went to MCG QB and saw how a side knowing it would get the free , or the mark and would not be penalised for blocking, head high tackles, in the back etc can play more confidently and win. Saw the Gold Coast game live and saw a Melbourne team take the umpires out of it by playing in front attacking the ball and playing with confidence. Theres more to it than that but the coach needs to get some confidence in this team unless he has a cunning plan to steal the flag through sleight of hand. The last quarter minutes showed how well these players can play. Should never have required that. New plan needed, What has Pedersen and Stretch and Frost done to be continually ignored. Yes I know but they put in more effort for full four quarters and while they won't win a match can carry the stars who can.
  13. It would have made thrilling TV. Whos writing this script???
  14. Too little too late????
  15. Really need to rethink Pedersen and Stretch.
  16. Like some of this. Build over the already ugly Swan Street . Open up views over Punt rd and Goshs. Covered walk way beside rail line to the existing footbridge direct entry to the G . You can even wander through the trees if you wish. Land and air space in Richmond probably cheaper than East Melb.
  17. Re my previous. oooppps. All you say is good. Although a walk from Richmond station to OUR club rooms ain't that hard Still looking forward to the ongoing discussion. May have jumped in a little early
  18. I would have thought good engineering and design could enhance the view and amenity of the station while covering the tracks. Interesting to see how this goes. I'm a supporter
  19. Hey wrecker that's definitely a worry. Can you provide more detail of what aspects constituted his toxicity? Maybe we can avoid that attribute and benefit from his other recognised strengths.
  20. Have agreed with many of this thread. Beaten by a team confident they could drop, throw , block, scrag, indeed act with no impediment from the umpires. The umpires threw the ball up inordinately quickly and responded to the report in the age to create quick moving high scoring game. Play on always preferred to keep the ball moving. Oh and of course "it helps if Collingwood are up and about". We may have been destined never to win but the game exposed some simple faults that must be remedied. Sheperd the ball carrier. Especially if you have given it to him. Kick the ball low and flat, not high to allow two opposition players to join the contest. Man up when they have the ball, provide an option running to space when we have the ball place the ball in front of your teammate so he can run on to the ball. Only one player needs to fly for the ball. If against two opponents then force the contest and bring the ballcould have used Frost pace off backline. wasnt disappointed with Pedersen in forward but we didn't seem as effective when he was on the ball. Maybe needs more time to play this role. Trac is a burst player and did perform that role. Brayshaw was wasted in tagging role. We need to be able to play with intensity for four quarters , this is the emerging trend in successful sides. We can still win the flag if we remember and respond to this loss with an improved focus against Port.
  21. Thanks all for ongoing commentary
  22. Surely gender defines no gender If bananas are both male and female surely they are gender enriched?
  23. Great comments WWWSW Flexibility and depth through key positions keeps an emphasis on performance
  24. Hope the Coach references this to the players. You have a long way to go. You have a lot of history to overcome. You have a lot of history to make. Lets show the Watson of the world that you are ready for the journey. Win this game!
