  1. Well thanks DLand. You have just saved me some time as it doesnt seem essential to watch the game. Sorry end to the season. Thanks to KC and all commentators for VFL , your insights and close attention are very much appreciated. It seems the club has a lot of work to do in regaining relevance so the umpires treat us equally to our opposition even at this level.
  2. I couldnt get any access. No worries I have seen every other football and thought I would watch the Casey game on replay "as live" with no knowledge of the result. I have bought into Kayo as required if you want to follow Dees in the country and cant afford to sustain the local publican thinking id catch it there. No Luck Nothing on the mighty 7+. Ive caught some of the sports shows and all the news. No mention of the game I currently watching St Marys play Palmerston magpies on NTIV But Youve guessed it no CAsey. The AFL have ensured that MFC followers are treated with the irrelevance they have always wanted us to have. I hope to now find that CASEY have triumphed and I hope they smash the opposition and win the flag, Surely the AFL wont ignore that game.
  3. How good is Hanks?????
  4. The fawning attitude of the commentators is appalling. Their immediate commentary was nothing to see there. Had it been May the immediate comment would have been he could be in trouble, for the next few hours there would be slow mo angles appraisals until the MRO made a decision to rub out. Had ADelaide won the commentators would have spent inordinate time on the two goals from illegal shoves. Their immediate reaction was "that wasnt a free kick". They bwere able to ignore it as Collingwood became so dominant. I would say that that dominance was based on the knowledge that they can commit almost anything and wont be penalised. It did seem to me that the pies were favoured by the umpires after the two favourable frees were given.
  5. I agree especially the highlighted. I would extend this to a total club attitude. I think Roos had the support of the AFL community snd there was a change of approach by the press and umpires to recognise a winning attitude. If our team played as vigorously as displayed by the Pies and the cats, our players would be rubbed out by the officials at every level,. Penalised on the field and at tribunal. While i appreciate the game is difficult to umpire, the inconsistency and bias in many of our matches and certainly tribunal decisions appears obvious. WE need to reset and ask what are we doing wrong so we can play with the same confidence as the more favoured teams. Equal treatment will lessen frustration and allow us to play amore attractive game. I am probably not expressing myself well, and do not want to be seen as just complaining. We need to be positive and identify how our attitude must be reset.
  6. Just got to this The intervening comments show that the current understanding is resident in some nebulous state. All your questions have been responded to and I think the answer will be unlikely to satisfy most Is it an elite training Facility?, Certainly sold as this and should be. Not sure and replicates CAsey Is it closer to where players want to live? Again not sure no player poll has been identified. I dont think this should be a major concern They all probably want to live near Geelong Is it Co location of Admin.? Agsin presented as such. Should certainly be so and should allow for expansion as we grow.. Place for fans to gather? not sure from whats being presented now. I believe it should be but it may be limited in capacity. It seems Redleg and a few may be well catered for. The train access should attract greater numbers and I believe the club should leverage off that to achieve some retail return. Anyway it will be interesting to watch developments. I see many are still sceptical. I am concerned that we will be minor players in a site benefitting the racing industry.
  7. No shame in broadening horizons, concerned that banana "scared' you and hope it is sacred which is more understandable. I will wait with interest to see any benefits of matcha. This is an indication of the research potential of demonland. Congratulations Red
  8. Another Final series and still no home base where supporters who cant get tickets can gather and watch the competing teams on big Screens. No doubt the AFL would make such an arrangement expensive but it could be used as a club fund raiser if possible. Its why any proposal should include an entertainment and retail sector to benefit from activity generated by the club presence.
  9. I would say that Culture is built from treatment of outliers. I would suggest dealing with May provides much greater culture than firing him. We have exhibited many failures in action which have destroyed so many positive approaches. The club must be able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the diversity of individuals and exploit and nurture them for the benefit of the collective. Different rules are often needed but they must be built to channel outputs and outcomes to a clear consistent practice. Much of Mays problem appears to be his uncompromising passion , this needs to be channelled into a team based requirement. Probably the best elite athletes are selfish and maybe even narcissistic, it is managing and using those and all other attributes that really shows strength and is the culture that needs to be celebrated
  10. Not at all I need an irony/satire font.
  11. Well, there could be some merit in projecting long range plans to deny the reality of variables and trends which provide euphoric short term emotional succour arising from success. Resilience could be built on frustration, despair and failure, When aligned with one fleeting outlier of success the magnitude of joy is overwhelming. I hope the club is seeking funding for the variety of health academics who can quantify and analyse this innovative and bold initiative. Such studies can be aligned with the effects of banana smoothies supply, distribution and quality variation. Demonland has been instrumental in providing the data base for this ground-breaking research. The full resources of AI ( I remind you that is Artificial Intelligence) can be applied in this fruitless examination, The full range of Dland commentators who have over the journey developed and displayed their expertise in any sort of intelligence are invited to contribute. Of course most interest and controversy will be engendered from the artificial type. To Norris will of course contribute the usual tripe to add more irrelevance to the case, any comments attributed from him will be removed from any statistical analysis.
  12. Well certainly some musical legacy there. Yes Sunny boys, Lime Spiders, and Cruel Sea. All seen somewhere some times ago. We were blessed in Melbourne having a choice of numerous great bands every night of the week. All played at the numerous pubs in town and most cost less than an ounce of dope. I last saw the Cruel Sea when they supported The Stones at the MCG and Tex and the band were outstanding on what was a remarkable night . I gained anew respect for the Stones especially Keef who was the maestro conductor. Im in the country now but Tanswells in Beechworth is a well known stopover for bands on an inland tour. If theres a chance the Aints might be there then so will I. . Our Airbnb house Lochwood Cottage ( you can look it up there0 can take a band (sleeps 8) with 3 bed rooms . It was offered in the Melbourne members raffle but dont believe its been taken up yet. Beechworth is also a great place to reflect, refresh and recuperate. I would be happy to offer you a special deal if it could help you through your current condition and treatment. Give me a call on 0448110212 to make arrangements. It would be great to share some wine and music tales with you.
  13. No longer an issue. He merely reminds any potential ridiculer that he may be reported for offensive comment
  14. the girls just need to keep playing as they have. Both sides seem equally fatigued . dont go defensive
  15. Should have added that of course we still have Casey and the AFLW to look forward to. Hope they can overcome the mood of despondency and gain some confidence.
  16. I did like a lot of comments in the thread. Disliked the loss and did like the effort of the players its a pity we didnt show that same endeavour last week and actually affect the make up of the finals. Beating Collingwood would have been a great bonus. After a season of disappointment I am still with many dlanders that there is much to look forward to. Sure we have to make some changes but I do not believe a wholesale cleanout is needed. I still maintain that better use of the squad to have the best team against the opponents would turn our results around . Resting players and exposing the second tier can be beneficial. Recognising that older players may need a different playing and recovering program, playing older stronger bodies against tougher sides, playing faster players against slower opponents and not expecting Trac to win every contest every game, HE is a burst player who can win Norm Smith style. Clarry has improved from a poor start but is an extractor and so valuable every other side wants him. Both must be kept and complement the next generation coming through. Viney cant be expected to play his physical impact style every week, he needs to be managed to play that role when needed . He has been a good player for us. May and Tmac could quite easily replace each other to manage their output, again matched up against specific opponents. our next generation can learn plenty from them. I of course hope we keep JUdd.. I like Langdon and hope he can keep up running on the wing. Windsor has so much upside Langford obviously could be anything. Culley has also shown a bit but like many of the squad may need to rotate back to VFL to refresh and build skills and confidence. I also like JVR but would like him to be schooled in more forward craft and used by the others in the team, Jeffo and Fritsch both play a similar game and can be rotated to get the best out of both. I do think that so much of the game is in the mind, Collingwood know they will receive ths best of umpiring decisions , get the soft ones and not penalised , Demon players know they will rarely get a soft free and certainly not in a close critical place. This not only produces confidence in the Pies but frustration and difficulty for our players. In saying that we got a good run from the umps for some of last night, very confusing. A few soft ones paid to pies at critical points and no soft ones paid to us in critical points. I could go on but life intervenes. I will continue to watch and enjoy other games, Our Beechworth boys have made the finals and have had some similar results based on injuries and being able to get the best side on the ground. EVeryone in the squad has supported the regular stars and have contributed to what could be an outstanding season. I cant see them tomorrow coz im playing intertown squash. WE will get smashed by a more talented bigger club bit we will field our best side all year and will have a great game and all improve. I will continue to support the DEEs and hope to see you all next season with revived hope and enthusiasm
  17. Beechworth Ice Creamery always had Banana. They had an outlet at Bright as well BUT are all closed for winter.
  18. Great work again GW and thanks for all your training and other comments. Your passion and enthusiasm are fantastic. I have attended a few more games than usual this year but cant do tonight. After enduring the smug attitudes of the hawk supporters last week I could not possibly face the pies supporters. They will outnumber us and will be unsufferable in victory or defeat. I congratulate any demon supporter who can stomach attending and wish them well. The only positive result I could see is that the dees come out a kick 10 goals a quarter and the pies scrape a few goals. the game is over at 3/4 time and the Pies supporters are on the train and gone by the final siren. Commentators spin that Collingwood were resting for the finals campaign and had no interest in playing at their best. they treated it as a captains run against a nothing opponent.
  19. Hopefully this case will encourage some players to "come out" and acknowledge their sexuality secure in the knowledge that it is an acceptable status. If this then leads to less of the disastrous impacts we have been told of this will be a great step. We can treat each other with respect as human beings with equal rights and more importantly feelings. It is easy to unwittingly offend it should be as easy to genuinely apologise and show remorse. This is a very complex issue and I acknowledge I do not have any golden bullet solution. I know that I have had and have a range of friends with a range of opinions, I accept and respect their opinions and actions. I learn and try to retain their friendships which are the most valuable thing. I will not make any further comments on this site on this issue but will continue to personally have much introspection to ensure I can be the best person I can.
  20. This is the can of worms the AFL has opened. I support them taking a stand on many social issues, Drugs, Racism, Homophobia, etc, but how they manage the fine to the crime is critical. AS many have said the comparison with ending a career by an illegal physical attack is an obvious issue. The impact of a physical contact is much easier to discern than a mental impact, but cannot now be ignored. I was being facetious when I suggested that two players conspire to claim an opponent made an offensive remark and they should self report. Such an issue is not as clear cut as aknee to the kidney or a slide int a contest, but could have an immeadiate distracting impact on a player Perhaps the AFL may have to institute a return to what happens on the field stays on the field practice. They can now supplement this with new technology and increased surveillance by umpires. As I said, I dont know but the can has certainly been opened. The Pies again gain an advantage if they end up playing Crows in the first final. Can our result this week affect that?
  21. Not too much to say really, so sorry that you have the condition and congratulations for your approach. Music is the greatest antidote for most issues. One of my major regrets is not learning any music. I have accepted and embraced my role as an audience and have invested heavily in live music over my lifetime. The guitarist from the Saints that I revered was Ed Kueper, is he playing with you. Would love to hear him. Last saw him in Adelaide and thought it might be his last gig. He was anchored behind a keyboard and dispensed his musical ability fantastically.
  22. This rating table shows us an undeniable fact that no player will be best on ground every week. Obviously not every player can get maximum votes, but Max shows that he can get votes regularly It reinforces a thought I have that it is up to the coach to recognise when a particular player is not going to or is not playing at their best. The coach needs to use the entire squad and play the player who is going to make the most impact in a particular game or against a particular opponent, Resting a player for a particular game or against a particular opponent can be beneficial for consistency. and maybe ebst votes arent that important as many impact players, big occasion players, match winners did not always votw wekk in many awards
  23. They can be reminded of their sensitivity to language. Perhaps line up next to your opponents and say me and my team mate heard you make an offensive remark. Youd better self report.
  24. Its the vibe.
  25. Not helped by the awful structures that meant Hawthorn had an extra player in defence all quarter. This was rectified a little bit but for the rest of the game but our predictable attacks meant that our target was always outmanned/ It was a bit perplexing
