The problem is he has lost power and any ability to break away. He has been able to contest pretty well when the ball is in close but is a liability when it's not. This is not because of his injury pre season as he had the same issue last season, maybe the foot was giving him problems then, who knows. One thing is for sure and that is he is not the player he was in his first 2 seasons at the club. Some forget that and think of him as a dud pick, I don't but am concerned about what has happened to him over the last season and a bit. He has played nowhere near his potential in that time.

...but you are not making your point mate and come across as an apologist. Disposal is one of the things he needs to work on and I agree with you that doesn't make him a spud, too many write players off as you say. It appears he is working on things the FD want him to and that is probably why he is still on the list.

He has some mates that's for sure.

With you now, cheers.

What a great player....but the knee. It's been a shame to see him struggle, looks like he has been a bit better this year but for how long can he go on.
-
I'm not sure what you are saying but is it that you think his outward or media position will be the club is well run even though it is not.

You can really make a fool of yourself at times, why don't you ask your contacts in the FD what has been holding Davis back from getting a senior game. It is not a myth that his kicking has been his weakness, I think his decision making in the games I have seen suffers more from poor execution. The idea is right but the application has been poor. Now if he is getting that side of his game together that is great because I don't think anyone doubts that he has a red hot go and would love to see him bring that to the AFL team.

It probably shows a bit more about the rules. Players are not too sure about whether to bump at all now and where possible they now avoid it for risk of missing weeks.
-
Well explain it clearly so we can. I can't for the life of me understand why you would say the club is well run.
-
Forget anyone over 25yo if you are giving a high pick away, we've made some dumb decisions but that would be right up there.
-
A well run club doesn't get in the strife we've been in or have the results we are getting and have been for the last 6 or so years.

It is funny; "plays like Joel Selwood'. Suddenly everyone expects we've landed the next Selwood, Yeah!!!!! ....but wait he also plays outside, and not only that he kicks goals.
-
His first session at the club came in skin folds over and well down in the time trials. We can go on about this but the fact is he better pull his finger out, he has given us nothing and that you can't argue with (well you probably could).

Training reports from the club.

Second AFL club, 26 yo and only 20 games came to the club underdone for pre season. May tell some of the story as well. I will give you still developing with Matt Jones as a mature ager first year in the system but Pedesen needs to get a wriggle on.

I'm not sure about this one either 'Daz'. ...but the mystery is 'what is affecting it'.

For all the knocking of Jamar, and interesting comment was made by Simon Black last week when in the commentary box. He said Jamar was a good player, really difficult to pick as he was one of the few ruckman who could tap the ball 360degrees. Maybe he is a bit better than some give him credit for.

This is why we can't play him as a permanent forward as so many have called for, he needs to rotate up the ground. This happened later in the game but we had run him out of form by then. I don't think he was our worst though, bit harsh that 'Nasher'.

2 really interesting things today that are linked to the post. Can't remember who had the ball about 55 out from goal I think in the first quarter but Dunn was standing next to him calling for a handball. Now we know Dunn can get the journey but he was not moving and calling for the ball with Carlton players around him. It wasn't given off, one of the better decisions of the day. However surely Lydnen knows he should be moving to take the ball, that's what he did at Casey last week. It's not knocking him, he had a good game today I thought but it's how most of our players are. There is little movement and most handball is a result of pressure, it's why we have so many less disposals than our opponents. The second thing was again I think in the last in Carlton's attacking 50, Byrnes had the ball and was under pressure, he could have easily given a blind handball or one to a statue but held up and took the tackle. By not releasing the ball he forced a 50/50 ball up rather than a hit and hope handball. This is where his training at Geelong and experience can count, he didn't have a great game but if he can get more of our guys to think and be prepared to take the hit then he will add value. The turnovers are killing us. Message to Tommy Mc, find out what Corey Enright did to get his kicking action and ability fixed and do it otherwise you have a very limited to no future in the game. I know you have a few mates but you are the one with the biggest potential upside.

Spent most of his time forward to day. Still not a good return though. Definitely something not right here, the club is doing him no favours if playing him with injury.
-
I will take the word of Cameron Ling who said he wasn't in his first 2 years. Ling would have a better idea because he played against him. Both he and Watson think something is wrong and I'm going with them on this, something is clearly wrong.
-
The way he went down looks like a collarbone to me.
-
I reckon Chip is going well, hasn't had anything kicked on him and stating to get some run back....anyway..

You've got to be kidding, watching his debut would have made a visit to the 'G' worthwhile. Well let's hope we can put in a fair effort and Howe takes mark of the year.
