  1. Good to see he is back on the ground after injuries early in the year.
  2. Seriously 'dee-luded', these comments wear thin. I couldn't care less if they are choir boyz or not, I just want us to get good footballers and just maybe a couple outright champions. The last one this club had looked like a bit of a nerdish choir boy.
  3. Not on current form.
  4. Doesn't look cleaver enough to be Sam Mitchell.
  5. A different player on Saturday, must be running into some match fitness. Look forward to watching him over the next year.

    Umpires

...but it doesn't mean we just let them go, if it's a problem then change the rules. Football has always been a difficult game to umpire with interpretation being a big part of it. What I don't like is that the interpretation changes from Q to Q, game to game, week to week and often umpire to umpire. The thing that I really dislike though is the way the interpretations are being used in a misguided attempt to provide continuous football. It's this that philosophy that plays a big part in the current rugby maul that has come into the game. Pay the decision quickly and move on.
  7. I think it was; however it shouldn't have been. The main idea really needed and still needs to be developing players for the overall main idea...winning games of AFL footy. This is the problem with the past regime in that they were not focussed on the main game.
  8. There is money 'old dee', not enough to go around so it becomes a matter of where it is allocated.
  9. As an assistant coach, it doesn't mean he is the coach in waiting. If he wants to get into coaching then why wouldn't he want to spend a year or two under Roos to kick it off.
  10. Just talking short term 'BB', not sure we would be able to launch next season, we would probably have to have had the discussion with the VFL already for that to take place. We can't let things drift though and need to do something for the coming season.
  11. 2 different stories 'BB' at the moment, the death of the VFL and our stand alone team. Could be a reserves only comp in the future but really doesn't answer our issues at the moment. It seems we are not in a position to go stand alone but we certainly need to be in the prime position to develop our players. The only short term solution I can see is a quasi take over at Casey and investing some money into coaches and players to create a professional, winning environment.
  12. 'picket', his performances probably deserved some criticism mate. He was always a good to better than good VFL player and had some exceptional performances at that level but it was only fleeting at AFL level. Good luck to him if he gets another shot at it, he's doing everything right to make it happen and that's got to be worth something.
  13. It's only on one game 'Bob', the dossier will be a lot bigger than that. I trust we have a better handle on drafting than in the past. The one person I wouldn't listen to is Brenton Phillips though, the SA coach talks up his players (I know Petracca isn't one of his) as much as Shifter Sheehan.
  14. He's not their hardest player agree but he is classy and he does go when he has to. I used to think similar to you and have watched him, he even goes into the centre bounces at times now and clears the ball. No, I think you are being a bit unfair. It's hard for anyone in an average team to play up forward let alone a poor team, it would of course be a lot harder for him as it is for Watts. We have bigger problems than Jack Watts.
  15. I think we've come a fair way 'old dee' but we sure have a long, long way to go. 2nd last or last are still not out of the question if we keep playing like the last few weeks.
  16. ...and if we think they have some trade value then it's better for us to still have them under contract.
  17. Agree, it's pretty funny how people jump on board. I love how Wayne Britton dumped on Lyon recently when talking about how it's ok for media people to get stuck into the coaches but they never had the courage to put themselves on the line and do it themselves. Brits wasn't going to name names but they pushed him and being the honest man he is he said G Lyon was the worst offender in his time.
  18. No, I didn't either 'Bob' but he sure has a good set of hands in a marking contest.
  19. I think at a minimum we need to invest some money to get some good quality VFL players to help the development of the younger kids coming through. Part of development is winning.
  20. ...and this is exactly what I'm saying 'Adam', we need to build the list properly this time. The bolded part expresses things perfectly for me.
  21. ...and I'm sure he is.
  22. Non the wiser either and have faith Roos will make the right call. I can see both sides of the argument and wouldn't be disappointed with Ling or Kirk if it was down to those 2. I wouldn't right off Dew yet either.
  23. The only one with outright speed there 'Axis' is Hunt and he is very much a project player with no guarantee of making through the first couple of years. Salem has AFL level speed nothing out of the box, JKH is not quick for his size. In the Rookies there is no outright pace or class.

    Umpires

The trouble with this approach is twofold. One for a start it is not their job to ignore the rules of the game, they need to enforce them. If the rules are not working change them. Two is that they are always going to pull one decision out of the box and an inappropriate time of the game and of course the umpires bosses can always say its the correct decision as it's in the rules, those same rules they ignored for the rest of the game. I believe the game needs to be umpired to the rules. It is becoming a dumb game to watch now.
  25. Thanks 'jazz', that's very funny.
