Players to target at the end of the year
rjay replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree 'Pennant', and the other thing about these players is none of them are built like tanks as RoK is. The durable players in AFL are not heavily built and don't have to carry around extra Kilos (even as muscle) that take a big toll on the body. -

The Bulldogs won't be giving up their first round pick for him. -
Good authority that he wants to come home, so I've only got half the story.
-
I tend to do or try to do the same but would really hate to see our team running out with someone who has made the announcement of moving next season. I would expect the club to not play that player.
-
Ask Cam Smith what he thinks of it. He much prefers our system, I would much rather keep some degree of passion in the game despite the speculation. The only real passion in league is for State of Origin now because it can't be diluted, play around with our game and it would be a major mistake.
-
I don't think there is any reason to head towards the NRL model, it doesn't work for them at all and in effect diminishes their competition to a feeder comp for state of origin where the passion remains. I actually prefer the 'rpfc' model.

Have a couple myself...

You really can't take anything out of NEAFL performances or stats. If he is any good Roos and Stone will know.
-
...and we were going to take Sloane and Wines.
-
Not saying you are wrong just saying it looked a friendly enough chat, maybe our old mate 'Sat' can ask Jack next time at training.
-
Looked like a friendly convo to me on the tele...

Players to target at the end of the year
rjay replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wouldn't, the pick is way to high for Blair. We have traded these picks away for a couple of years now and need to find some really good kids otherwise we are building an unbalanced list. -
Might also read as, let your assistant coach go or we might be coming after your senior coach.
-
Has McDonald from North been nominated yet? looks like a 100 game player already, no fuss just goes about his biz.

We can't afford to be trading away our high picks on players like Blair. Good honest player but we need to add real class to the list. -
I think his beep seems to be rising by the week 'Chaser', will be interesting to see how he goes when they do the testing.
-
Would like to know where that key position depth you are talking about is. If Frawley goes as seems likely we are very light on and really have no quality key position players at all to call it a strength. Clark is gone, Hogan will be a quality KPP but hasn't played a game yet and McDonald is very much a work in progress.

Roos has agreed to a 3rd year according to Robbo. Hope he has got this one right....
-
Ask Collingwood and Richmond how that works. It just about (well it did really) sent them both broke and the Tiges are still recovering. It was kinda their Norm Smith moment.
-
Maybe Laverde although if we had 2 picks I think we are more likely to trade one.
-
It's probably enough to bring in now. We will have Jamar at 31, Dunn & Pedersen 28, Jones & Jones, Garland and Dawes 27. Add to that Cross & Vince and we are looking at an ageing list not a young developing list. We desperately need to bring in young talent from the draft and trades now. I would spend nothing on an over 25 at this time, if one more drops in our lap like Cross I would consider it. If we don't do this we will be consigned to nothing more than a middle to lower rung side for a while.
-
His reaction could have meant many things, apart from your interpretation it could also have been "what are you on Robbo, Frawley, you've got to be kidding"...
-
How did you like Breust last night 'TGR'? I know he looks like a butter wouldn't melt in his mouth skinny kid but looks can be deceiving, he is a very good footballer.
-
It always seemed a strange option to me. They have some really good young key defenders already and then you have Reid as a swingman AA key back. Why would they pay good money for Frawley?
