  1. No inside info 'Lucifer'. ...but it's no coincidence that Bartlett has been looking into the FD and some changes have already been made. Expect more at the end of the season.
  2. Goodwin will lose some of his power after this season....and that's a good thing. All coaches start as control freaks and the ones that stay in the job get their wings clipped at some stage. If they learn to deal with it they become good coaches. Recent examples are Buckley and Hardwick. Goodwin won't have the say in who is appointed and kept on. He will of course be consulted but a year like this looses him some chips on the table.
  3. Good news... We couldn't keep going the way we were. Things are being set up now for 2020... I wonder if Bolton is on our radar? Personally I would like Richardson who for some reason is still on the outer at Saint land but Bolton could be a good get...

....but on the other hand he wanted to claim the plaudits for their endeavour to make it safer for fans & families to go to the footy. Can't have it both ways Gill... I vote for Gale...pity we don't get a vote.
  5. I bet he was putting the bet on for a mate....

...and even worse are our own ill educated fans... I think I prefer the lounge room these days.
  7. In Tommy's case it could also be related to an injury concern. His form has dropped off dramatically & he did/does have toe issues. I remember Mark Lecras was one of the most accurate kicks in the AFL then after a broken arm had to wear a cast when playing. He lost all accuracy, even after the cast came off. Small things can easily effect the mechanics of kicking straight. Maybe mechanics, maybe mental...

Trouble is Gill won't come out and put it on the table. As usual we get his double speak. As I said earlier, I'm all for cleaning up some of the crowd behaviour. Some fans are totally out of control. ...but as with the Goodes affair all we get from Gill is the nothing to see here line. Leaders stand for something, Gill stands for nothing...he blows with the wind. The sooner Brendan Gale takes as over as CEO of the AFL the better.

All for cleaning up some of the crowd behaviour. Trouble is it appears they are picking on the harmless loud fool. The offensive ones get away with it because the security generally won't face them down.
  10. That's part my point and also that we need to look at a long term replacement for Nev... I think Sparrow is also an option and would like to see him trialed there....

It's bizarre indeed 'Ethan'... What was even more bizarre is the umpire who just laughed when Stratton was slapping Cameron's arms a couple of weeks back. All this could have been stopped there & then if the giggling (rhymes with dog) had of paid a free kick. So now what happens if the opponent starts to pinch back or slap arms back, the game will look sillier than it already is. ...but that's what I would do, pinch him back twice as hard and maybe give him a nip twister for his trouble.

Structure is key for me 'Nev'... It's not just the delivery in but how the forward line sets up. Goody can talk connection all he likes but when he has a crowded forward segment and doesn't use the ground to open up space we're never going to consistently connect.

No, but he didn't like the way he was playing. That's what lets him down...I've often said he plays like a small man in a big mans body, last night he played the way he should. It wasn't just form, it's the way he goes about it and there's an obvious change. ..by the way agree with you on Phil Davis, I'm a big fan.

If you believe his coach that was true... He spent 6 weeks in the SANFL for an attitude adjustment. The way Jenkins played last night was what you should expect from a player of his size. He has too often played for the easy over the back goal, last night he used his size to break packs and take marks. The one caveat, it was against a very undersized Richmond defence.
  15. I don't see this 'Matsuo'... Not knocking him, he's been great. ...but one of the main reasons he didn't get drafted earlier is a lack of pace. It's one of the things his former coach, Jarred Rivers pointed to in a recent interview. His strength is as a natural footballer who reads the game well (counters in part for foot speed) & his intercept marking. He will be a constant fixture in our team going forward but not as Nev's replacement. We need to look elsewhere for that.

From the AFL... Stadiums and police across the country have a zero-tolerance for members or supporters that abuse the opposition, umpires and other members and supporters, on grounds of race, religion, gender, disability and sexuality. So...Bald, what grounds does that come under? Disability? doesn't seem to be race, religion, gender maybe sexuality... Headed...not sure. Fill in the blank. Rhymes with Dog: probably under sexuality....could be a disability as related to eye sight...

Some really good points there 'Bob'... Injuries have played a major part, no doubt and we have pushed some good sides. My biggest issue is that we haven't changed our game since the Prelim. This is on Goody and I think we need fresh voices in the FD to keep him accountable. I also think we have work to do on the list but lists are always a work in progress. A big question is can Tommy Mac get his form back? His 2 biggest assets, overhead marking and accuracy have totally deserted him. For now he needs time at Casey to work on it.
  18. I think he needs to be dropped and play at Casey to get form 'Lucifer'... I wouldn't be nice with Tommy, he needs a rocket.

My hope is that there is a thorough review. As for power, Goody seemed to be the man and when he started talking about Mahoney being the new CEO alarm bells should have rung. It's not his area & I hope Bartlett had a talk to him about it. I think/hope a review will call for changes in the FD and that will from necessity erode Goody's power base. The oft mentioned Buckley, Hardwick & Thompson all got taken down a peg after poor seasons and the following review. Even Clarkson had Jeff to deal with... I live in hope 'Rusty', I just hope they don't call on someone like Lyon again. I've put up the suggestion of Ireland, we need a real heavyweight.

I think this is going to be key to our recovery...no recruiting decisions should be made until this happens either.

If this is true I hope Pert gets the review under way and makes appropriate changes to the FD before a dumb trade is made.
  22. Tell Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks, tell Ganhdi, tell Mandela that they should just keep towing the company line, be conciliatory and all would be fine....the world would soon come around to their way of thinking.

The first couple of minutes of today's game were close to a mirror of the prelim from last year. We had errant handballs and a total lack of system. The only difference in the games is that Collingwood failed to take full advantage & convert early on. No matter what Goody says & Jones says as he did tonight, they haven't adjusted the plan one little bit & that's a big concern. If they think they have tell 'em they're dreaming. Treloar basically said it post game, we knew what Melbourne would bring & we waited, adjusted, took advantage & ran them on the outside. Yeah we can win contested ball but because we have so many drawn into the contest to win it we have no one to give it to and we cough the ball up...and off they go. Within days of Reece Shaw taking over the North job there were obvious changes to the way they played so we can't use the it takes time excuse...but we do. If the coaches are coaching a different plan to what we're playing then we have an even bigger problem than I thought...the players are not listening, the coaches are not communicating. Looking at how we are playing the only thing I can deduce at this point in time is that Goody is not a good coach. From what I am seeing he is stubbornly sticking to a plan that just doesn't work, sticking with players/positions that aren't working, clutching at straws bringing in underdone players. The measure of him going forward will be his ability to reset & adjust. If he can do this rather than stubbornly stick to his current plan then I reckon he will turn the corner. I hope he has the currency (faith from the playing group) to pull it off, after a while he will be out of coin, it will be too late. Buckley & Hardwick pulled it off but it's not a given, if he's good listener, has the right council & we pull the right levers with new appointments then all's not lost. I truly hope this is the case as I couldn't take another coaching change. As we look at things now...is Goody a good coach? No. Very few are in their early years, they need to grow into the role. Will he be a good coach? I sure hope so. A few observations from my first post after the Port game. Max has really stood up, he's not allowing himself to be pushed around. He's back at the top of his game and a credit to himself. Just wish he would stop pushing the ball to the left in his set shots. Tommy Mac is done..for his own good & ours he needs time at Casey. Please...nothing has changed. Hibberd is still struggling, admittedly coming off the collar bone is not helping (rushed back/underdone) but he has been inconsistent and we're not using him well. Fritsch is treading water. I reckon Trac is on track, just not being used to his full potential. See forward set up... Weid needs to stay, he's our best bet forward but with Preuss as his foil & to relieve him of 2nd ruck duties, ...and who is the coach responsible for our forward structure???? the buck has to stop with Goody but why do we insist on this narrow funnel set up at centre bounces. It gives us nowhere to go but wide to no mans land. We get the ball in the middle & look up to 6 forwards & 6 backs all in the the same lane way & kick it there. Is it a wonder the ball rebounds so quickly. There's still a lack of passion & it showed out today. May & Lever will be gold but we paid overs for them. The list needs a lot of work I just hope we can conjure the currency to get us what we need. This year is the drop off year, the measure of the club, coach, FD & players is going to be how/if we bounce back. Expect a full review & some level of power to be taken out of Goody's hands. Everyone got ahead of themselves & changes will be made. I hope we get the right person to do the review, a real smart football operator who knows clubland & success backwards. What's Andrew Ireland doing in retirement, an old Roy boy maybe could do with a couple of months pocket money???? Worth a call Perty...

Jones will play on next year but step down as Captain. Goody made a poor decision in appointing Viney as a co captain too early in both his (Goody's) and Viney's career. Said so at the time and it's not hindsight it was a dumb novice coach captains call. Max is the obvious, Lever has real leadership...they would be my co captains. Jack needs to concentrate on getting himself fit & becoming a team first player not encumbered with the captaincy.
  25. Petracca was good today...the only one who didn't fumble & looked poised with ball in hand.
