My main concern is that the MFC will take him with a higher draft pick then they need to. the team should draft to what they need, not just for the sake of him being a F/S. We already have alot of in and under mid fielders (Jones, Moloney, Sylvia, Mckenzie ect) We need quick mids with pace. I wonder how many people would be talking about targeting Viney if he wasn't a F/s prospect. My guess is that there wouldn't even be a thread for him.

my question is why would GWS take the risk? pretty sure GWS will sit back on this one and let GC take the risk if anything. GWS would also be keen on our #3 pick for a 17 yr old. GWS has more reason not to bid then they do to bid. seriously 1 pick higher on a 2nd rounder isn't worth the risk and it would be irresponsible for them to take it. We are talking about a #1 draft pick int he strongest draft in a long time.

Just saw these 2 on the FA list. Both would work a charm on our list, especially Kerrs experience. Yeh he turns 29 this year but throw him a 2 yr contract to show the young fellas how its done. I remember seeing this guy bring down Barry Hall in the goalsquare.

They cant break it if they dont know about it. But then again GWS may think the same and just rather hold out until after the bidding. Which would also work in our favor as it may prevent them from bidding for viney if they are eye-ing off our pick #3

These teams would need to be fools not to start unofficial trade talks during the finals series. Wouldn't be surprised to see some deals signed off in day 1 of trade talks

would be tough orchestrating a 4 way deal behind the scenes in finals season though, especially if Essendon are competing.

I thought that in that scenario that GC should probably shoot gWS a 2nd rounder as well so then it goes MELB Give: Draft pick #3 Melb Get: first Pick 17yr old (Viney can now be used with 2nd rounder) GWS Give: Both 17 yr olds GWS Get: Draft pick #2 and 2nd round draft pick GC give: Downgrade 1 draftpick(2 to 3) and a 2nd rounder GC get: second pick in 17yr old draft

I was thinking about the game plan the other day and it reminded me exactly of the mighty ducks 3 movie if anyone has seen it. Those guys were all about attack and then the coach came in to instill a defensive edge. Will be interesting to see how it goes this weekend. Be almost the first chance we can do a bit of our own bailey vs neeld comparison in a way i think. I can see this game plan working just as it did in the mighty ducks

Would it be just to take him at pick 3 if his worth pick 15?, i think the club should be and will be more responsible to do that. Club will hold its cards close to its chest. No one will know what they are thinking. All i hope is that they take the hard line approach if necessary.

hows this for a scenario GC gives GWS pick #2 in draft we give GC pick #3 in draft We get Pick #1 in 17 yr old draft GC gets pick #2 in 17 yr draft GWS gets pick #2 in strongest draft. (Obviously this would all need to be agreed upon before the bidding session via informal chats) we can then use our pick #4 for any player, pick #12 for any player and second round pick on Viney and get the best 17 yr old

hell, gws may even be keen to bribe gc for us just so that they can score themselves a pick #3

tell GWS we'll trade them pick#3 for the first pick of the 17 mini draft. then they wont bid coz they ll want our pick 3. then we get first pick of 17yr olds and get viney for 2nd rounder.
