  1. iv always wondered why people on this forum have suggested time and time again that Lawrence should be upgraded. He is on the interchange bench of the 2nds VFL team. I would rather have newton on the list then Lawrence.
  2. Really like the way Neeld is utllizing the senior players with Green at CHF and Rivers at CHB. I think its been an issue that melbourne hasnt milked as much as possible out of the senior players in some occasion which has been a big problem of the Bailey era. He just wanted to put games into players regardless, while personally i think they need to earn the games from the VFL, not be given them in an attempt to develop them. Hold onto the senior players and get as much as possible out of them into there 30's, will give players more time to develop in the VFL and will not end up having gaps or a stack of players in 'development' leaving that position to get flogged each week. that aside im also digging the center bounce line up with Magner, Grimes and Moloney in there.
  3. Dont forget alot of the international students are cashed up to there heads and rich families. Wouldn't be surprised if many of there parants had business back in China/Malaysia/Singapore ect. Imagine the potential for sponsorships if they dragged there folks along to a game when they came to visit.
  4. I think even the AFL would support this type of marketing as it would be growing the game to new supporters. And I agree, if richmond or Collingwood started training at the park down the street to my house, it wouldn't make me support them. Also alot of supports just follow whats already in the family or the suburb they grew up in. Young students who live in Melbourne and currently support no team even though they live a stones throw away from the MCG and Etihad should be the biggest marketing target to gain support, not family days for existing supporters or shops that most people dont even think twice about as they stroll past. A few free tickets and you'll have some of these students with Jack Trengove or Jack Watts T shirts. If i was in another country and i could take a stroll down to watch them play there national sport with a free ticket i would be there in heartbeat.
  5. I dont mean to be racist or anything but I am in my 20s and have alot of friends from different cultures and i do notice that the asian community seem to enjoy football culture alot more then the Indian culture who seem to lack interest in it. As a matter of fact one of my mates plays for a senior team thats made up on 90% asian players who won the premiership in the SNFL last year. I think it is a real good market to push with alot of supporter potential and with this type of interest from the market, it could be used to sway chinese companies to sponsor the club if they know that alot of chinese australians support the demons. There are night clubs in the city which market to this which attracts thousands of international students per weekend. If night clubs can market to them why cant a football club?
  6. Some people may think this sounds silly but i think the MFC should actually target international students to try get a fan base. Firstly alot of then actually live in 'Melbourne' in the city where they study, so obviously if they began to follow the code, this would be the team for them. Secondly, alot of them stay in Melbourne once they graduate. Thirdly, there all young so will be around for along time Fourthly, a heap are from china, so if they do go back to China it would only help the MFC's push to get a fanbase over there. I see thousands of international students in the city everyday and cant imagine other clubs having targeted this market. The days of trying to attract supports from Junior football are numbered and a new approach is needed i think.
  7. Like Jetta, i think injuries will be the end to Evans
  8. Saw the photo of McDonald and Silvagni, wonder if T$ took the effort to head down with them.
  9. Or again at senior level. His 2 year rookie stint expires at the end of this year.
  10. Thats not as bad as LJ being 4 weeks for the last 4 months. Typical Demon injury recovery progression
  11. Thats quite optimistic, honestly with months in the off season you think that there would be a deadline for this and that it would be the start of the season. What hope of a club do we have if we cant even stick to dead-lines. Next people will be saying 'if it takes only a few extra weeks and we sign midway through the season, then thats ok. Honestly, its not....
  12. Nup, he is just into his 4th year and yet to deliver
  13. Alot of people here are saying 'His only had 40 games', well how many games does he need? If his going to be a 200 game player then thats already 1/5th of that 200 gone. What return in terms of % of games played is an acceptable amount to be developing? Another season and thats almost 1/3rd of his 200 game career gone to 'developing' What is the acceptable % which a player can be in the 'developing' mode for. No point having a 200 game player if 100 of those are spent developing. If that were the case then half our team would always be developing and we would never win a flag.
  14. i can i cant read the article without signing in and i refuse to make an account to pay for the herald sun online when we are already being flooded with advertising
  15. Seems like alot of people on this forum want to just elevate players for the sake of filling our list. If there is not a need to elevate a player then they shouldn't do it as I am pretty sure non rookies get paid more. Not just that but it would also mean one extra player to de-list at the end of the season. I would much rather keep a spot or 2 on the list free to if say alot of our back men end up injured, we have space to bring in someone much more appropriate to fill the gap.
  16. Lawrence hasn't even played one game in the seniors, even in the NAB cup. I still have no idea why so many people rate him and suggest for him to be elevated. I am not even sure if he has even ever gotten multiple goals for Casey in a game before.
  17. Hope we see Vineys Vacuum again this year.
  18. looks like his comment is working as intended by the amount of posts in this thread already.
  19. being positive and mentioning something is not being taken by it. It is simply adding to the thread. Have some respect and dont be so rude please.
  20. Sylvia has shown he has the goods, look at the Richmond game last year for example, he just hasn't shown he has the goods on a consistent basis. The point of this thread was to suggest solutions for the future of the senior group. Are you suggesting to just hang onto them regardless because there trade value wont be good? Because its either that or de-list them and get nothing if you don't want to trade them. The team will need to make space at the end of the year, so i would prefer to get something as little as it be then hang onto a player who has had 8 years experience and can't find consistency or to de-list players and get nothing.
  21. Sylvia has the goods, just not the attitude. He can be turned around but possibly not at the Dees. Other teams may see this and be prepared to take him on as part of a trade package. He is in the Dees best 22, he wouldn't be considered a fringe player at the trade table.
  22. That was not the best analogy, that analogy would be suggesting for Emma to nominate for the draft herself. Michelle Grattan would probably make a decent beuracrat working behind the scenes of politics to put specific politicians in there place. Which is the political version of Emma working to put players in there place (Demons list). Regardless if she becomes recruitment manager or just part of the team, i feel her contacts and knowledge would benefit the Dees with recruiting young players. Not that Viney dosn't have a few cards up his sleeve however, I am sure his been to quite alot of junior matches watching his son play. Young Jack can tell his old man which team mates are d$@kheads and which ones make good leaders on field. If only young Jack was running around on the field with T$ to give the recruiting team the heads up.
  23. she could possibly make a good beuracrat. im not suggesting Emma Quayle to pick up a footy and get drafted herself.
  24. Dane Swan 2.0 Fills a massive massive gap, and for the price we paid. I think this guy will actually be elite, i cant believe he drifted so far back in the draft after being overlooked for 6 odd years.
