As luck would have it, the father-son rules might be changed in 2025, potentially requiring clubs to forfeit first-round picks in lieu of point accumulation.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 29th November 2023
djr replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It would be perfect if WCW could do the boundary-riding interviews and the other guys could do the training drills etc.- 130 replies

I agree with what you say, but the issues you raised have nothing to do with culture. We obviously had to rework our gameplan after losing our key forwards before and during the finals and losing Brayshaw in the first few minutes of the QF. We didn't have the time or the personnel left to adapt. This may have contributed to the way we played against Carlton. Looking back, I think we did extraordinarily well to be in a position to win both games.
-
We have lost the last two finals because, quite simply, we lost our forward line due to injuries and there was a disconnect in our gameplan. If this is your idea of cultural issues, then get in bed with the media and bash the club. Without going over the personal struggles a few of our players are facing—personal struggles that all clubs, Collingwood included, face—you have chosen to side with the media crowd and declare that there must be a cultural issue. You have no idea what has happened or is happening behind the scenes, so your post is just a rehashed version of what is said in the media. Do you have an original thought?

That’s very Trumpian of you. Disgusting comment from you again.

I hope Sestan can take the next step. He's not small, 188cm, can take a good mark, is hard at the contest, and certainly knows where the goals are. I hope he can put in a good uninterrupted preseason.
-
I think Windsor will start well behind Howes, Woey and even McVee for a wing position in 2024. I hope we just let him settle into the VFL system first and build his tank.

Me or WC?
-
By the look of it, WC wasn't that interested in Curtin either. Certainly not for their F1.
-
Good idea. Can Goody come? Umm maybe not.

Just so inane and cliche responses. We all know they have to perform next year. What do you expect Max to say when asked a question? "No comment".

I believe the next draft rule change will allow a club to swap a player they recently selected for draft picks and even other players during the night. I think its done in the NBA?
-
You seem to forget that the 4th year was the clincher for BB. Anything less he was staying at Nth.

Good analysis. I guess JT would need to assess whether there is any quality left at p15.

Besides them what else have the Romans done for us?

If this goes through I am assuming he is injury free and ready to do a full preseason.

Source?

No. Melb has only traded players who they don't mind moving on. They have not lost anyone significant who they preferred to keep. Maybe Jackson. I believe the medium/long term strategy here is for the club to free up cap space in order to target the likes of Sean Darcy, Todd Marshall, JUH and maybe Ben King in 2024.
-
So, please tell us who you think we should have traded for among the key forwards available over the last two years. I can only count 3: Lobb, McStay and Finlayson. The latter is only the one that I would have been interested in, and I doubt we were ever in the hunt for him. Who in this trade period have we missed out on? Not sure why you are freaking out about our trading performance when we have Petty, JVR, Smith and Fritsch as our tall / medium forwards for next season.
-
No it wasn't a disaster. In the 4 matches where Max was not available he stepped up and averaged over 100 AF points per game.
-
Petracca. He's that good.
-
They have already said no to Ginniven so I assume they would not be interested in Chandler.

I believe we won't be able to outbid NM for P1 without offering a top 22 player. As much as it is painful to consider losing one of our top line youngsters, are we willing to do it if it means getting, and IF JT believes, a once-in-a-generation player? If so who would you trade that WC would find appealing? The draft picks can work itself out.
-
I believed I may have added a little spice to the morning. Sincerely, I don't believe P6 and 11 will be sufficient if we are to obtain P1. To seal the deal we might have to part ways with one of our top 22 players.

Does this mean you don't like the idea?
