  1. But don't we have Howes. To me they have similar traits but Howes may be more athletic. I don't think Taylor would be drafting a wingman using such a high pick.
  2. If you are a believer in the 'we win' strategy, who would ever trust you? Hate to go through life with that approach.
  3. I'm surprised that there hasn't been any talk about involving a Freo player to Melb in the deal. I would be comfortable with receiving p13 and a player like Michael Frederick (drafted p60 from SA) who can play wing / HF. He has enormous potential . Sam Switkowski (p73 Vic. A little injury prone) or Lachie Schultz (p57 Vic) are two further players who could fill our HF needs. I know they are all under contract but Freo might come desperate if they can't come up with another 1st round pick to satisfy us. On a side note Freo have really nailed their late picks over the past 4 years. Good on them.
  4. The old "whatever". Tried and true way to end a conversation.
  5. Give it a rest mate. You tell this "joke" time and time again. It's boring. I would put you on ignore but I do like some of your stuff.
  6. So what do we give Collingwood for Grundy? Your scenario suggests we have nothing left in the cupboard.
  7. Buddy Buddy Buddy. The most over rated footballer over the past 2 seasons. There I’ve said it.
  8. I agree. I was just reusing Mo’s use of the word “favours”
  9. What is wrong with doing the Pies a favour? All clubs do favours. Freo did us a favour in picking up Hogan. They knew we wanted him out the door but gave us P6 and P23 in which we bought May and Tom Sparrow. The nett result is the most important. We have been brilliant in the past 5 years in identifying our needs and going out and getting players to fill those needs. What we pay in any individual deal becomes inconsequential when you look at the overall outcome.
  10. That's a head in the sand attitude and one adopted by Dodoro and Bell. Let's screw them to the wall mentality. MFC does not operate like that. They want their man, they get their man. Who really cares in the future whether we give away a first selection or a second pick. It is only noise. We complete deals because Lamb and Taylor always seek out trades that benefit both parties.
  11. Bolt will be pushing the George Pell defence and Rita will be shouting that its wokeism gone mad.
  12. If it is true I wonder if any white draftees were subjected to the same treatment. I suggest none.
  13. You can add Hickey to that list.
  14. I don’t mind handing over a late 1st round pick as long as we get a 2nd round pick back.
  15. It was only 4 months ago that the media was saying how scary our list was.
  16. Since 2013 I can list 17 players that Geelong have recruited after the second draft round that did not play a game. That is out of a total of 24. Only 7 have played more than one game. All clubs have a list like you have quoted above that make you think their club has recruited poorly after R2. As Luci has said its been a strategy to since 2018 that we trade late picks to get higher draft picks. You need to do a little more homework before you start making your signature grandiose statements.
  17. If you think Jason Taylor has a poor track record beyond the first two rounds, you'll also think Stephen Wells, the other recruitment guru from Geelong, is a complete failure. Since 2013 Wells has had 24 picks after round 2 of which only 7 have managed to play a senior game. There are 2 standouts in that group, Menegola and Kolodjashnij. Taylor on the other hand has had only 14 picks of which 8 have played a senior game. Notables are Hunt, OMac, Hannan and Stretch. After the second round, chances of a player good enough to play even one senior game is very low.
  18. The Brownlow Medal needs to be substantially redesigned, in my opinion. Since its inception, the medal voting system hasn't altered, save for a few years when they double the votes. It is biassed in favour of midfielders who are under the constant eye of the umpires. Here, the system is at fault rather than the umpires. The voting system does not honour or recognise key position or role players who might be as, if not more, crucial to their team's success than the midfielders. The AFL need to design a voting system that captures the complexities of the modern game. The current system belongs back in the 70's and 80's where the game relied more on individual performances rather than team performances (ie zoning). Maybe the Coaches award might be a worthy alternative as only the coaches truly understand the importance that each player brings to the game each week.
  19. Did anyone follow Howes' performance today? Did he show anything to suggest that even though his stats were ordinary, he was able to apply some pressure to the opposition?
  20. Boy you hopped off our band wagon pretty quick. It was only 4 months ago they were saying we were unbeatable with our game plan. What changed….injuries.
  21. If we weren't banged up like we were then I believe our gameplan and list would have delivered us another grand final. Yes I understand the excitement of using the corridor but boy it's risky.
  22. I feel ashamed that we lost to this bunch last week.
