  1. Toby B has similar traits to Kossie. Runs hard and tackles hard. When he has the ball he is just as exciting to watch.
  2. Strange lot you have put up as a comparison. All of them except GH laid coathangers on their opponents. I guess back then that's how they lead from the front.
  3. I really like Chandler as a midfielder. At this stage he reminds me of young Viney when he first came to the club. He's tough at it.
  4. Its a bit weird not having any fencing around the boundary line. Sorry just in one section.
  5. Gee Mac Andrew is a beanstalk
  6. I can't believe no so-called media expert has considered loading as a possible cause of "form" loss. They talk about attitude and lack of effort as if a team's playbook is from the 1970s or 1980s. All of the top clubs' gameplans are so systematic that the two most likely reasons for a loss of "form" are injuries or loading. It's so 1970s to believe that a lack of effort is the primary cause of team failure. I understand that there may be times when a player's mind is not on the job, but the entire team? In-game, you see players address these issues. I'm not sure why retired players like Nick Riewoldt, Jordan Lewis, and even Kane Cornes don't bring it up as a possible explanation for why leading teams struggle at certain times of the season. I understand why the "older experts" constantly talk about discipline and effort because that's how the game was played back then. Garry Lyon is a classic example. To me it's lazy commentary. The only bright light in the media that I've seen this season is Nathan Buckley. But even he has not revealed much.
  7. Bailey Smith is, indeed, the new shiny toy. Gerard Whateley will quickly shift his focus from May to Bailey, claiming that everything is disgusting and that the AFL needs to conduct another investigation on top of the May investigation, as well as the investigation that will undoubtedly take place next week when Toby Greene is scheduled to put his foot in it somewhere.
  8. Another tangential thought. Why not try LJ as one key forward and BBB as the other? Bring in Majak to help Max in the ruck and to switch with LJ. Daw is an competent ruckman with excellent tapping skills. On his day, he is a very good key forward capable of kicking goals. He is physical and will fight hard, which the Weid cannot do. LJ is lacking confidence, and a change could help. Having said all that I am now not sure what the game plan is in regard to forward entries. Is it to just bomb the ball into the F50 and have the talls contest and bring the ball to ground or for the talls to create territory so as to have one-on-one contests. LJ is a suitable candidate for both scenarios. Would we be any worse off with this setup? Probably not. Could we win a premiership with this setup? Probably not.
  9. Don't understand your first sentence.
  10. I'll now consider easing Turner into the backline and experimenting with Petty up front. I know it's early and Turner has only recently returned from injury, but he's been a standout for Casey as that intercepting mark that Petty excels at. There are a number of players who are not performing as well as they did last year, and nearly all of them have the same role as last year, with the exception of Brayshaw, Jordon, and Hunt. Over the next month, it may be time to introduce some new players to some of those roles, such as Turner, Laurie and possibly Van Rooyan.
  11. Goody once said that they train as if they were in a game. I believe Salem has been training with the main group for more than two weeks, which would be as intense as playing in the vfl. In that case, he should be ready to play in the seniors.
  12. I'm inclined to think otherwise. The Swans are Buddy-conscious and try to deliver it to him 90% of the time. Last year, when he didn't play, their forward line became more unpredictable, and they won games without him. They have numerous targets that will continue to test our defence.
  13. SS and Schultz with their defensive and creative work in the forward line is one of the main reasons why Freo is said to have a similar game style to us. He's a big out for them.
  14. The AFL will have difficulty doing this as they have no leverage. North are pretty much debt free and have a good balance sheet. They most probably are more financial than us.
  15. Is very very very poor team worse than just very very poor team? After their strong effort today where their pressure rating was close to 200 maybe they might jump up a rung on the Deedubs "Very" ladder to very poor team which must be a higher metric.
  16. According to Jason Taylor he was recruited as a key forward.
  17. Yeah Demonland has had a few of them. That said they seem to come and go. Hopefully this one will be no different.
  18. JVR is taller than Charlie Curnow and he seems to go alright. Petty is 197cm and he was drafted as a key defender who will one day take over May's role.
  19. Your "very very weak opposition" comprised of 12 premiership players including his opponent who is a four time All Australian.
  20. Of your 94 posts have you ever said anything positive. I would hate to think what you would have written 10 years ago. Then again you might have enjoyed that time more than now. Our game plan does not rely on perfection, its all about defense and strangulation of the opposition. We react to what the opposition bring to the table every week. WC were very physical and very defensive. They showed a lot of heart in those middle quarters. Your views are very old school. Relax and enjoy the ride.
