Will they take pick 13 alone for wellingham? Would fit in nicely!
-
Your theory is flawed- If your scenario panned out- which it wont- but let's play make believe and think it does, then IF Viney wanted to come back to the MFC (which he won't), then how do you propose we get him? He can't just signal his intentions to return "home". A deal would have to be done. GWS would make us pay EVERYTHING to get him back. But let's not stop there- Sheedy wouldn't let him come back. He would rather him go to the PSD and get nothing for him instead of us pulling one over him. And he won't be able to come back to us until he's elligible for FA- which will be a while.. So it's a [censored] theory/debate, and you don't know how the draft works. And you underestimate the ultimate betrayal this would be to the Viney family. It would ruin any shred of culture we are trying to cultivate. Ultimately GWS/GC would know we are going to pick Viney. My bet is that unless some kind of deal can be done GWS will bid for him anyway. It's in the senile old mans bones to be a cuniving [censored]!
-
Interesting- anyone pick up on this little nugget? "Recent reports that Viney has already signed a long-term deal with the Dees are incorrect. Viney has signed a memo of understanding with the club, in keeping with AFL rules, but it is not binding. If forced to pay too high a price under the bidding system the Demons can renege, leaving GWS or Gold Coast with Viney." Now that could put some fear in GC's or GWS's minds when it comes to calling a bluff. Got a definitive answer on the Viney "contract" now.

How do you solve a problem like Moloney?
Jesse Christ replied to Jesse Christ's topic in Melbourne Demons
Lets not bring Junior into this. I don't know how important to the club Moloney is apart from the possessions he brings us. I know this sounds increadibly harsh, but it's time to toughen the [censored] up. He is slow and doesn't have a defensive bone in his body. Viney will make him obsolete. Take the MFC glasses off and take a clinical approach to it. Bleeding red and blue is noble, but sentiments aren't going to win games. -
Demonland Player of the Year - Round 13
Jesse Christ replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6. T-Mac (what a find!) 5. Jones (persistant) 4. Watts (class) 3. Clark (still devastated:( ) 2. Rivers 1. Bate Special mention to Sylvia who starting to remind us he has some useful tools, and Sellar- who I wrote off but he shown me he can be of use to us. -
Will Moloney be offered another contract at MFC? If current form continues, I say no. If he can find form for the rest of the season, and asks for a contract that we consider to be "overs" I think we could let him walk to GC/GWS- He can be replaced by a Couch, or a "moneyball" player (love that term) Either way, I think Moloney is a problem, and I wouldn't be surprised if this was his last year with us. I have a feeling he will either not be offered another contract, or will walk to whoever wants him. Have to admit, I am a little ambivalent about this one. Discuss

If we were in the running for anything this year I would say Martin, but we aren't. We aren't going to make finals, it doesn't matter how many more games we win, so get some games into the kids. Cook doesn't have to be the replacement for Clark, I just want him in the forward line getting a taste. This week I would bring in Cook and Tapscott to replace Clark and Moloney. I would play keep Tappy and Sylvia around the forward line to make Cookie walk taller.

Cook. It's time to unwrap the cotton wool. You've got blokes like Cameron who is as skinny as Morton, Watts debuting as a stick insect- injuries can happen to anyone- just ask Clark FFS Unleash the cookie monster. It's time, I'm growing impatient. Been looking forward to his debut ever since we drafted him and I need something to look forward to now after the bad news we just recieved

This is just so unfair! Going to need a few days to process this!

Correct weight Redleg. If he was wearing the red and blue I can tell you everyone here would be going ga-ga over him. And let's be honest here- he is everything that we wanted Watts to be as in a pack marking forward. Lucky for us Watts has beautiful skills and a beautiful mind. Watts reminds me a lot of Hirdy, minus the wreckless abandon. Both will be players.

As did I. You might have to save me a seat at the humble pie stop. Apple and rhubarb for me. It's sweet and has some bite to it. Don't know where that came from. He was crap then and I called a spade a spade. Always happy to eat humble pie. You know the saying "happy to be proven wrong?" well I never say it because obviously it is always implied. But lets not get too far ahead of ourselves- let's see him more, and against top teams. He might squeeze my boy Martin out of a gig. Just to clarify I am happy for whatever serves the team best. Slooniewhateveritis is for MFC, not Slooniewhateveritis..

Just how good will Nic Naitanui become?
Jesse Christ replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
You have been seduced by his athletisism, which is understandable. The stuff he does is exciting and it's great that he can use his physical attributes to his advantage- but that's all he has going for him. He has grunt, a leap and second efforts. He has no football brain and [censored] skills. I'd take football brain over athletisism anyday. See Watson. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Jesse Christ replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
The best thing about Johnstone was Grimes. But this is a Viney thread.. carry on chaps. -
This is clearly a ploy to keep him away from his mate Scully..
-
Lol. He's a wrecking ball.
-
Yeah- whose opportunity will that be? Bennell's? Argh Feel for the bloke. Makes you realise how much some put into being out there and representing the red and blue. Must suck when you want to give it your all but can't because of a failing body. Hope he makes a return.

I had 3, wow, even depressed myself! Simple fact is when you're 1-10, it's very hard to invisige a win. Lions beat us down here, how can we beat them over there when they beat West Coast? How can we beat Port in Darwin when they have smashed teams we got beaten by? I know Freo's form in Victoria is shaky to say the least but they are clearly playing better footy than us. A gutsy win over a down Essendon isn't enough to give me any confidence for wins against anyone but the new franchise teams. Maybe we can pull out another surprise win but I'm not confident enough to tip it. And no, in case you're wondering; this doesn't mean i'm "ambivalent" - I'm just basing my predictions on what i've seen so far. That is 1 win and 10 losses.

I have to admit, the masochist side of me can't wait to see this place descend into chaos if we lose.. -

To what end though? A flag? Will a flag garner enough interest in Western Sydney though? Does anyone really care about Aussie rules in Western Sydney? When their draftees contracts expire will they want to stay in that cest pool? Will sponsors be enticed to back an irrelevant organisation? Will free agents ever want to go GWS when all is a level playing field? I feel in order to survive they will probably have to relocate. At least GC is an appealing location to live and QLD have interest in AFL. Western Sydney though, in a state that has limited interest in Aussi rules and a successful team already, it looks bleak.
