On the Couch - Brock talks about 'tanking'
Jesse Christ replied to jumbo returns's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought this speccy git sheahan retired -
Hayes and Hodge used as a comparison to Sylvia, lol. I don't klnow, back injury seems more serious and psychologically damaging.. wasn't sylvia thrown back into AFL without VFL games? Hodge came back through the VFL didnt he?
-
I expect more from players returning from cracked vertabrae! And it was only a cracked vertabrae!
-
That's not what I meant at all. I mean if you put someone out for 3 weeks, the minimum you should receive is 3 yourself. Seems an inbalance of justice when the victim is out longer than the perp. Not sure how you extrapolated I meant someone can get off scott-free if player on receiving end is un-injured.
-
Jamar still 2-3 away with a calf. Mature guy with a calf injury. Put him on ice fellas, he's season is done. Spencer gets his time to strut his stuff. Martin likewise with Clark out. If nothing else these injuries are allowing us to try our other options. Negatives out of positives ey?
-
I think, with all these wreckless bumps/tackles- the punishment should always at least fit the crime; you put a player out for x amount of weeks, you receive x amount of weeks at a minimum. What else could go wrong? Don't ask. Because as history shows, something always does.

I don't know, I didn't see the game, did you? Did he do anything at all? Lack of effort or soundly beaten by opponent?
-
This makes sense to me too. You'd think if they are fit enough they will be inclusions this week against GC because I can't really see a better opportunity- timing wise or opponent wise for them to start showing if they have something to contribute. Do you think Cook is in the same boat?

In saying that, when was the last time we were match of the round?

The list - who goes at the end of the year?
Jesse Christ replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
You mean like Blease's best mate?.. -
Why do people keep suggesting Cale Morton in trades? Do you honestly believe another club would be interested??

It's frustrating, but that's just life for a Melbourne supporter; Look forward to the draft, because one day we'll hit it rich! Look we have deficiencies- and the only way to fix them is to draft right. Fact of life. A win against a lowly team does nothing for culture. I'm all for wins- a win against a top team and a few competitive efforts against strong teams to end the season would be a perfect springboard into next season, and if this were to happen I wouldn't mind having to use a top pick on Viney and missing out on getting an extra highly touted junior, because it would mean we are on the right track- but we are not. We will be convincingly beaten by all teams pushing for the 8, and we need every extra leg-up we can be awarded come draft time. For this reason I will be [censored] with a meaningless win against gold Coast, it will prove nothing and improve our position nought. It will be counter-productive even. You are basically giving up what could potentially be a 10 year- 200 game gun, for 4 meaningless points.

The Nathan Jones Appreciation thread.....
Jesse Christ replied to cowboy_from_hell's topic in Melbourne Demons
BRILLIANT thread! What a shinning light in a season from hell! I remember when Jones used to cop flack from posters for having his own website- trying to promote himself when he should be concentrating on his football etc etc, but he has proven a lot of people wrong with his contiued development and now has elevated himself to almost A grade status. Sets the example every week, it's just a shame so few are willing or able to follow suit! Definitely our most important player right now and if we had a few more of his type we wouldn't be in the pickle we find ourselves in. Well done Jones. Really looking forward to seeing some Jones/Viney action next year -
Just keep them locked in the room

It's just rubbish to watch and will cost us members
Jesse Christ replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Lol, I was wrong; you're deluded, and your anti Neeld agenda is clouding your judgement of our players and their potential. -
Have you seen any of the games this year? This is either a case of ignorance is bliss, or you are slightly retarded sir.

There goes my free Whopper! FMD
-
3.33 times as many, and that means nothing when the original number is only 2........ FMD!
-
lol over the course of the year obviously. But yes- 2013 "Ins"- Clark, Jurrah, Viney, pick 2, pick 3, pick 13?(maybe), Tynan ∨ Taggert ∨ Evans ∨ Gysberts "Outs"- Bate, Dunn, Bennell, the rest tba
-
Exactly. Every game now is just one step closer to draft time for me. Thinking if we miss out on Cloke we go Grundy. If GC beat us and end up 3rd last GWS take Whitfield, we take Grundy, Toumpas/whoeverthef and Viney. All of a sudden something to smile about
-
For all Richmond's talk about having a great year, making the finals this year etc etc, they have only won 5 more games than us this season. I find this funny. edit- I would prefer for them to beat that peice of [censored] club that is Carlton though
-
Clark back Viney and another (hopefully 2) gun mids injected into this 3rd world midfield Jurrah back (hopefully) Another pre-season into the team, injury free squad (hopefully) Look forward to seeing kids like Taggert, Tynan, maybe Evans show their stuff. There are things to look forward to. Without them I'd be without hope
-
Joy. This isn't tanking, it's pick management!
-
Our percentage will drop below GC's. They are more competitive than us right now and it's 63 to 58 as it stands right now. Add in the fact that they could actually spank us and I believe they will finish above us. Says so much about our team that has already been said on here but I have no emotion towards results this season anymore so I'm just taking a clinical look at the drafting situation, and what will be best for this rabble.
