  1. Yep , every time our team runs out in "that" jumper I utter the same words . "Oh no , not that thing again ! And I've cleaned that last comment up . And ...........................it's been a few years now . Still cheer our team on the same way obviously . Can we at least get rid of the pink . I'll cop crimson , dark maroon , red , burgundy , even auburn ! But not pink . Of course , I agree with the use of pink for worthy causes and special days etc . Cheers
  2. If having a clash jumper is so important and such a so called money maker then why doesn't the biggest club of all not believe in them ? I'm happy for our club to embrace all sorts of "new" things but changing the colours is not one of them . New FD , new training facility , new sponsors , new players , new direction etc etc are all fine . Cheers
  3. Yep , and another way of looking at it is that our club has effectively changed the colours of the club . Did the members vote on this ? Did I miss something ? Is "Keep your eye on the red , white and blue" the new last line in our song ? I fully understand that many members of our club could embrace these clash jumpers but they need to be mindful of tradition as well . I'm all for change when necessary but what's next ? "The (insert sponsors name) Melbourne Demons" or "The (insert sponsors name) MCG" . The latter may never happen but money talks . Some things should be left as they are . Cheers
  4. Really ? This might be taking the "Win at all costs" bit a tad too far . Can you see the fans in the crowd wearing these outfits ? Unless of course , that is their fashion sense ! I'll pass Cheers
  5. It's rare to see anybody wearing these atrocious items . Where's the proof about the "sales" ? And I don't wanna hear "That's what the Club says" . Even if it is true , I say find another way to make money . I rarely see a time a time when these monstrosities of a garment are necessary . Get rid of them . By our club trying to be "cool" they effectively annoy a lot of their core fans . For the life of me I don't see why we just don't have more red / blue in our traditional strip when we a have a "clash" . And by red I mean red not pink ! We're red and blue . It's in our song last time I checked . No mention of white . Cheers
  6. Fair chance he'd already cleared out his locker Wyl Cheers
  7. The Strokes are the best ............super talented bunch ! A track here from Steely Dan , transcends time . Macca 6.2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpwVFuWTeFQ
  8. Of course , your right about the EPL , I'm a Hammers fan ( championship but soon to be Premier league ) and our tune is "I'm forever blowing bubbles" . Re our club songs , I more so meant it in the sense that immediately after our games finish we all launch into song . ( if we win ) I love this part of our game . And isn't it fantastic when we sing our song after playing against the mortal enemy . Bliss ! Cheers
  9. Yeah , putting all bias aside , it's quite good hey . I've had a few listens and the use of the brass is quite impressive . Fairly sure we won't hear it much though , unless this thread gets revisited ! If "Smacka" Fitzgibbon was still kickin' we might have had a bit of banjo . Oh well . Cheers
  10. Must have a listen to some of Joss Stone's music . I've made a note ! Here's a track from Steely Dan ( probably my all time favourite band / Duo ). Their songs are a mix of jazz/funk/rock and in all reality they have their own genre . Was going to post it on "Nuggets music videos" ( 3rd person!?) but it may be more suited on this thread . It's their last track from their last recorded studio album . Slide show is a bit odd but it's best to close your eyes with this song ! Macca 2.0
  11. Hey , that looks a bit like ..................no it can't be !
  12. Here's a classic from the one and only Janis Joplin . Departed this world at such a young age . What a voice ! Macca 6.1
  13. Yeah it's a bit "Eastern Bloc" . Fairly brassy but no banjo ? I heard the bloke this morning from "The Cat Empire" say they tried to it with some banjo but later cut it out . This saddens me Cheers
  14. Terrific choice and keep posting . Great to have you on board ! Suppose my whole idea of the music video is that it aids as a hook to get people to listen to a song . Btw , post anything you like video or no video . Lots of great rock doesn't have a music video . As I said , it's just a hook . And I agree with you that it's the music that really counts but as a means to an end .................... So far the thread has been angst free . My thoughts are that if people don't like , just scroll to something you do like . There should be something here for everyone ( for rock fans ) Cheers , Macca
  15. Yeah , with regards to the Stones , I was never a huge fan but did like quite a number of their songs . But after discovering "Exile on Main St" ( 1972 ) and "Sticky Fingers" ( their 1971 album ) my opinion has changed a lot . Stones at their best - earthy , great driving rock n roll . And I reckon it stands up more than well . Their use of a fair bit of brass was in some ways quite unique . I now have a way more open mind to all sorts of rock ( and jazz of course ) whereas quite a few people I know have gone the other way . It's all about embracing the new ( within reason ) and retro IMO . I'd like to explore a few more bands from the 60's and 70's . More your classic bands such as The Who . Moody Blues , Led Zeppelin , Deep Purple and the like . I know a lot of their hits buts it's their other stuff I'd like to explore . Btw , I'm right into the Stone Temple Pilots thanks to your good self . Cheers JJ
  16. If both Moloney and Sylvia are close to their "maximum" outputs it would be for different reasons IMO . The former because he may not have that much improvement in him ( not a criticism ) and the latter for reasons well documented . Quite a few have said that this is "make or break" year for Col . I haven't seen people say the same about Brent . Sometimes you arrive at the same point from different paths . Cheers
  17. This is the 1st track from The Rolling Stones 1972 classic album "Exile on Main St" . A brilliant album and arguably their best . This song is underrated IMO . Slide show only . Macca 6.0 (battling away , keeping the thread on topic!)
  18. We could possibly say that about a lot of players on our list . I'd venture to say that we've got quite a few that can't string 4 quarters together . Forget about multiple games . Moloney is the least of our worries IMO . Is Brent another WYSIWYG player ? Expectations for Brent are a tad high , by a few , in all reality . Sure , he can get better , but by how much ? As much as Watts and Trengove ? In some ways I see Moloney as close to his maximum output . And that's not meant as a criticism . As a comparison , I reckon Colin Sylvia is a fair way off his maximum . To be honest , just about the whole team were terrible in most of our losses last season . That's the real issue . Cheers
  19. I'll take a 1 point win right now . With West Coast at Subi to follow we just have to win this one . Hoping for a big win of course . Cheers
  20. Yeah mate , episode 1 certainly gets you wanting more . No spoilers though hey ! Cheers
  21. The problem I have is that when teams have poor seasons it's nearly always the LG that cops a caning . If so much time and effort is put into picking these players , why abandon some or half of them after ( often ) 1 bad year ? And I'm not necessarily talking about our blokes this year . A winning season and the LG mostly stays and a losing season often means "heads will roll" . It is effectively using the LG as a scapegoat if the team doesn't perform . I'd like to see a team "stick pat" with their LG when times get tough . Or better still , just not have them if they can't show some patience . And just on our blokes , I'd love to have a full explanation from somebody on why Green , Moloney , Davey and Rivers are now deemed not worthy of being in the LG . More so looking at the clubs explanation if possible . I'm with a few others here - Capt , VC and Deputy VC was a great system . Cheers
  22. Well we're probably not far apart in all reality . I'm totally sure I know what "in close" means . It's largely self explanatory . Our differences might be that I reckon a different coach can develop players in role's that we never thought possible . I remember Barassi threw Robbie on to the HBF for a time there . People were in uproar ! And Northey got the team to play with a ferocious desire at times that stunned many of us ( especially those of us who'd witnessed the dark times ) I reckon a lot of our players have a huge upside . Especially in the area of winning contested footy in the midfield . Moloney shouldn't be our only decent performer in that area . Cheers
  23. Deja vu , all over again . My heart is filled with gladness .
  24. Decent combo here with Herbie Hancock and John Mayer . I think this is jazz ? It's certainly funky Macca 1.9
