  1. I suspect Viney went back to SA so that Jack would spend his schooling in Adelaide. He made it clear that he went home for "family reasons". Afterall, if he didn't go back, Jack would probably never have lived in the state his Father and relatives grew up in.
  2. I'm not sure that I believe what I'm reading.
  3. That is such a reactionary kneejerk comment. He's a young developing tall defender in his second year.
  4. Pace has always been one of Warnock's assets.
  5. I understand. I wasn't being his apologist, although I wasn't as offended as some.
  6. Imo, there's racism in virtually everyone, it's just a matter of degrees. As for Davey as captain ? No. I want someone who is strong in the contest and would crawl over broken glass for the footy while taking the opposition down with him. Davey is a good footballer, but not captain material. In fact, we don't have an ideal captain at the club. Green isn't hard, but he's incredibly brave, so he'd begrudgingly get my nod. Best of a bad lot. I yearn for the days when Trengove, Grimes, and Scully are ready to take the role. Until then a caretaker it is.
  7. Good summation.
  8. This is from a North supporter on BF: Okay few things we need to establish here: It has been 3 Years since David Hale played predominantly as a ruckman. He has put on around 8kgs since then. When he did play as a pure ruckman not a ruckman/forward, he was only 21-22 years of age (still developing) He was our number 1 ruckman who always took the oppositions best ruckman, which results in his low average hitouts, not to mention he was still developing. When he was playing as a forward we didn't exactly have a crash hot midfield, which results in his low goal averages and disposal counts. He didn't really have support in the forward line either. I'm one of the first people to get on Hale's back once he has a [censored] game, but there are reasons why he has low numbers. He is definately worth a 2nd rounder, and i believe he if was a 2nd string ruckman to someone like Mark Jamar, he would honestly do very well. He is a shitload better than most 2nd string ruckman, and he would also have the ability to push forward on them and have an impact on the scoreboard. If you ask why he isn't in our side at the moment, you only have to see the ruck combo of Goldy and Macca to understand. He is good insurance for us in case one of them go down, but I doubt a 26 year old would want to be playing reserves all year when he knows he could be the 2nd ruck in almost any team in the competition. His value stands as an early 2nd rounder in this years draft. Possibly a first rounder based on where other ruckman like cameron would have gone in the past. I'm probably a tad harsh on Hale. It can take ruckman years to show their worth as we know too well. He may be a decent understudy to Jamar, especially as both can go forward. Hale needs to ruck and he hasn't been doing that very much at all the last few years.
  9. In the last 3 years the match committee and list management heads have hardly pulled a wrong rein. On this occasion they've taken leave of their senses. Hale is a spud.
  10. That's true, but since when would you know a Footscray supporter.
  11. That was very funny.
  12. 2.82 at DC, but prior to that has a 2.79 against his name at a state screening, so it's not just "one" race. Game day fast and sprinting are two different things. He'll learn the former.
  13. Because he's faster. Second fastest non aboriginal at DC in 15 years. Why do people worry about a player doing a hamstring in a footrace when said players repeatedly practice their sprinting over summer ? I hate it that some supporters spend their lives worrying about things that may, or may not happen. It reminds me of my elderly Mother.
  14. Because you'd rather be playing in the one's than the two's. I can't see Jones as a fixture in the team in 2-3 years. I'm happy for him to hang around for another year and then give him the flick.
  15. Sacrificing one's game for the sake of the team isn't usually frowned upon by the MC when it comes to handing out votes. Unless, of course, the role wasn't performed as well as they would have liked.
  16. Of course he could have said it, but we've no way of knowing whether he did say it, which is my point. I find it more plausible that he didn't say it, as most interstate players that have made up their mind to return to their native state have done just that. He knew that he would have been well compensated by Freo before bothering to say "I'm returning home to Victoria" (unless you talk me out of it ), especially as this isn't his first contract negotiation while he's resided in W.A. You with me.
  17. It's more of a stretch to assume that Mundy actually informed Fremantle of his intentions to "move back to Victoria", as stated by the poster. This hasn't been confirmed at all. You're happy not to question this proclamation ? Looking at what's presented before me, I'm more inclined to believe that the said posters assertions did not in fact play out as he stated they would.
  18. No, they want to inject more pace. They'd have zero interest in Jones.
  19. Gee we overrate our own. I know that Ball isn't the AA player and Best & Fairest winner that he was years ago, but Jones isn't in Ball's league.
  20. Because "returning to Victoria" implies that one is leaving for family/homesick reasons, as opposed to coin/terms.
  21. A good defence is imperative to win a flag. Games are won in the midfield. The half back line, more than ever, has become part of the midfield.
  22. Promising prospect is Stanley and considering that the Saints have an over abundance of young talent on their list I'm sure that they'd entertain a trade.
  23. There have no doubt been worse players that have played in a premiership team than Jones, but I aspire for the MFC to have better midfielders than Jones if, and when, their time comes to have a genuine crack at a flag. Jones is good depth and for that reason I'm happy to keep him, but considering that games of football are predominantly won in the middle we better hope that he's not best 22 worthy when that time comes. And I'm certain he won't be. I'm glad you touched on the fact that none of the Collingwood players you listed are midfielders. I put it to you that that is no coincidence.
  24. He's also soft. But at least he'd be able to run down Watts at training and the coaches could replay the vision over and over and over again. Couldn't they ?
  25. If he has any class, which he does, he'll do it before the B#F.
