What a banal comment.

Yes; I do get offended when players wearing red and blue are soft. Very. And I mark them harshly accordingly. If you don't think that he is then either you've had limited access to watching him play, or have never played the game yourself. I don't make things up to pot a player. And I'm not mistaking magical and clever decision making and confusing it with avoiding contests. Making excuses for players is a Melb supporters favourite past-time, but it's not a hobby I share. I won't say any more on it, because it's a good thread being derailed. I love watching him play and hope he improves aspects of his game.
-
Soft. He knows it, I know it, his teammates know it, and yet you're offended ? The shoulder and his body didn't help, but he's played soft footy well before his injury. FFS, it was first noticeable at Casey. The guy avoids contests. What do you guys watch when you go to a game ? He can improve his timidness. But to the required level ? I think so. I hope so. It's up to him. Davey was soft but improved. It's not all doom and gloom. He'll be good anyway. But he needs to do more. For himself.

While Watts is far from hard he's put his body on the line far more than Jurrah. You're falling into typical stereotype when it comes to Watts. And it tells me that you don't watch footy closely.
-
No, I thought he was built like Byron Pickett. Thanks for the heads up about the shoulder reco, I'd forgotten that too. Do I need to point out I'm a smart arse, or will some believe the two lines above ? --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm well aware of the reasons that Jurrah avoids putting his body in certain situations and the shoulder reco certainly wouldn't have helped, but I can only judge what I see. There's no doubt that he'll have a harder edge with more confidence in his body and the more he believes he belongs at AFL level, but he's most certainly been very soft on numerous occasions at senior and VFL level. I understand his heritage. I've seen coke bottles kicked around on red dirt, where the idea of "taking one for the team" doesn't make a lot of sense when sublime skills are what's in order. Can you imagine what he and others have felt when they've seen hardened AFL bodies with years of weights confront them ? It would be daunting to say the least. Leon Davis has been AA, but he's just about out of the game because he's soft when the game is at its fiercest. Btw, I don't mention Davis because he's Aboriginal, just because he's the first example to come to mind. Phew. I love watching Jurrah play, but I want a premiership more. He needs to get harder in contests and not compromise his ability. And I hope he does. I want him to play smart too. I don't want him to get crunched just because he feels like he has to show he can. I want him to take that smarter option and avoid being hit if it's the sensible play. But I also want to see a player that doesn't shy away from contesting. And unfortunately he has. And if I overdo a point so be it. Many posters here have short memories and some don't understand what it takes to perform in finals.

If you're interested use the search button. My thoughts on Jurrah being soft have been mentioned a few times.
-
And what has that got to do with the brief given by the OP ?
-
There's a clear top 6, which is evident in many posts. I have Morton 7. I have Jurrah 6, which isn't as high as some, but while he's as exciting as it gets, he's also soft. He'll have a lot of hard nosed pressure put on him by good teams. If he can stand up to that pressure in a final then he'll move up my rankings. Until he can perform in a final I'll reserve further judgment.
-
I'm not surprised you don't know, Jordie. You don't even think Jurrah warrants selection.

The bane of my life is my keyboard. Tap tapping away only to look back and half a dozen letters are missing. Am I the only one this happens to ? Yes, I should replace the keyboard. But I hasten to add that Daffy should be spelt Daffy.
-
I said, "Daffy only gave his top 10, didn't he ?". I accept that subtlety isn't your strong suit(that word again), but you do appreciate that there was uncertainty in my comment ? You know, I wasn't completely sure, hence the "didn't he". Otherwise I would have worded the sentence "Daffy only gave his top 10". Spot the difference ?
-
I'm aware of how she spells her name. Put that one down to a non responsive keyboard. Btw, has anyone told you lately what a [censored] you are ?
-
You stated that "experts" had Darling sliding. You were then asked who these "experts" were. Your answer was Daffy (couldn't care how he spells his [censored] name) and Quayle. We've established that Quayle has earmarked Darling as an earlyish pick by her suggestion that the Eagles would have him therabouts at pick 4. We've also established that you speak sh.it. Often.
-
Where did you "prove me wrong" ? I asked if there was a top 10, or top 25. How can one be "proven" wrong when asking a question ? Interesting logic. Furthermore, having read question and answers from an interview with Emma Quale on another forum I'd like to direct you to this particular question and answer: "Question 10. Tip for pick 4? Jack Darling, Andrew Gaff, Jared Polec…. But I reserve the right to change my mind!" Looks like you're down to an expert, as opposed to experts. I'd be holding off on that conversation with your wife and kids for a while yet.
-
I didn't ask a rhetorical question. It was genuine. You're familiar with the difference ?
-
It's "you're". If you've got the facts then no doubt you'll put me in my place. Many people on forums spout unsubstantiated throw away lines, so I'm naturally sceptical. Maybe you didn't in this case. You did say "going by experts opinion". I suppose that that may only insinuate two. I'm not sure that two is a meaningful sample. We'll find out soon enough.
-
Daffy only gave his top 10, didn't he ? And who was the "one other" ? Facts aren't your strong suit.
-
Will never be forgotten. Respect.

What I've seen would translate to the AFL perfectly. I wouldn't mention Temel in the same breath. Slow and one dimensional. No comparison.
-
The recruiters would have watch him 15 times live, interviewed him, and spoken to his family and coaches. The question marks you have won't be as pronounced for the people making the decision on recruiting him. I'll back their judgment. From the limited amount I've seen, I hope we don't "steer clear".

I haven't seen a lot of Darling, but I like what I have seen. I love his confidence, aggression and the way he moves. He can pinch hit in the midfield, but is better suited as a key forward. He had an interrupted preseason due to an ankle injury, which would have hindered his output this year. I'm not concerned by his height and I'm certainly not concerned by a "sex romp". If he's good enough his height won't matter. If he's not good enough then his height will be used as the excuse. It really just gets back to whether he's good enough. Pavlich - 192cms Fevola - 191 cms Dunstall - 188 cms Hird - 188 cms Brereton - 186 cms G Ablett Snr - 185 cms A Jakovich - 187 cms I believe Darling is now 191 cms. As I said, if he's good enough his height won't matter. I like the way he goes about it and reckon his smarts, reading of the play and aggression would perfectly compliment our forward line. # And yes, I know that players are taller in this era.

West was part time in his first year, but full time last year.

You should realise that benevolence has its own rewards.

Good old Jake. At least he'll be good for a few belly laughs next year.
