GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Geelong
Yep 1 week at a time, but basically that is it. Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime

COVID & AFL 2021
Certainly the events of the last fortnight hits home how sheltered we are. One of my colleagues in work is an Afghani ex-pat whose previous employment over there involved interactions with the US troops. His family members are in hiding as the Taliban will kill them. Certainly gives us a reality check

Without the Eagles being involved you won’t get that , you will actually get football lovers

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I watched Scotch vs Hale yesterday in the last game of the season Erasmus plenty of the footy playing in the middle but upstaged by one to watch for 2022, Mitch Barron. Absolute physical beast in the middle, won’t be a tall mid or endurance beast, more of your inside bull. Broke his ankle early in the year and only returned for the last 3 games. No school for him next year so will watch his form at Claremont over September and next season. Another Sorrento Duncraig boy who I’ve watched come through and looks to hurt opponents in a similar way to the young Selwood and Viney who parents hoped wouldn’t tackle their kids. I rate him higher than Erasmus, although Neil has the ability to hurt opposition on the scoreboard.

COVID & AFL 2021
The writing is on the wall in Perth, 50 refugees arrived overnight having travelled through Dubai and are quarantining in a hotel in the Perth CBD. I can see where that will end, given our previous issues with hotel quarantine

Finals 2021
Plus 1 Cats for several years and Dogs have been denied home finals based on not getting big enough crowds, but it’s not a conspiracy for them

Finals 2021
Optus is the same size as the G, but a logistical nightmare. From memory Launceston is a big wide ground and Belrieve is a bit thinner but the wind there can be difficult to deal with

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Van Rooyen has spent most of the season playing PSA Football. He’s played the last 2 games for Claremont Colts kicking 6 & 5, which would be a big reason why he’s moved in. PSA finishes Thursday so I would expect him to move up the draft boards now

What would you do for the club if we won the flag?
I actually don’t know what I would do, as years of my youthful exuberance gave way I think it would be like winning lotto, something you hope happens but not believing it actually will. I know I would have a decent drink, but not sure what my initial reaction would be, a mixture of overwhelming joy, relief and shock. I honestly thought in 87 after watching us at the G in the first final against North we were on such a run, we were going to win it beating whoever was in front of us, but alas it didn’t happen. 98 again I thought we were a chance but the old finals system and White going down at the wrong time didn’t help. I knew in 88 and 2000, something special needed to occur but on both occasions that was snuffed out by halftime. In 2018, I knew we were cooked going into the Prelim, that was evident against the Hawks the previous week that the tank was almost empty. This season I have seen a very different defensive structure like never before, but like others I just don’t know if we’ll do it. Hopefully I find out, what my reaction to winning the flag will be

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
My youngest played against Jacob’s younger brother Benji a few weeks ago, what a player. He was playing up a year and running off halfback hitting forwards up with 35-40m darts

Welcome to Demonland: Taj Woewodin
I spoke to Shane yesterday, he’s pretty bullish about Taj getting drafted and would love him to play at the Dees. As expected he kept his cards close to his chest, but I got the impression the club have been in regular contact

TEAMS: Rd 22 vs Adelaide
I’m happy with his disposal and decision making he brings others into the game and reduces turnovers inside our forward 50 and the ability for teams to hurt us on the rebound. You have been potting him virtually since he came into the side and whilst you ate some humble pie earlier in the season I knew it wouldn’t be long until you were calling for his head

TEAMS: Rd 22 vs Adelaide
Your continued potting of Spargo is embarrassing

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Not this year but 2023, Eagles are going to get a beauty in Bailey Banfield. Seen him over a few years show some signs as an outside player, my boy played against Scotch last week and Bailey was in the guts and just dominated the clearances and game. He’s put on some good size, super clean with his hands and made some really good decisions in traffic and looked very poised under heat. His younger brother Sam is the same age as my youngest but their sides have never crossed paths, he has been talked of for a couple of years as very talented and better than his older brother. Think he’s 2025 draft Ashley Mcintosh’s boy Fletcher also played for Scotch, good size, but not much above average on display

COVID & AFL 2021
I have learnt in my 25+ years in the job, to take stats with a grain of salt. The bosses and lollies use them to support whatever they are trying to push. Online Fraud has been on the up since 2012, Organised Crime well and truly got their tentacles into it

TEAMS: Rd 22 vs Adelaide
And like every other good sides in the past the players and teams in general are fairly inconsistent until the core group of players hit the 100+ game mark. Many on here said you couldn’t judge Goodwin or the group until the core got to that mark (despite 2018) , the I want it now and I’ve seen it all before brigade brushed them off as accepting mediocrity, ostrich’s with their head in the sand or being apologists for Goodwin. Who’d have thought this game would take a fair bit of getting used to

COVID & AFL 2021
You would have thought, the public would be in absolute uproar if they knew half of what state Police are being tasked to do and the impact it is having on crime.
-
COVID & AFL 2021
Which you would think would result in Borderforce controlling security and monitoring at Airports and Ports, but no it’s state Police. This is stretching already sparse resources to breaking point and impacting capability to actually perform their role

COVID & AFL 2021
I get your disappointment, I take you saying “ I’m quite comfortable with a gallant prelim performance and going one step further at the G next year” that you don’t really want them to win it this year Was it in July you were against the finals only being open to those with double vaccination but you as being u/40 weren’t eligible for Pfizer, but when advised you could get AZ, you weren’t sure based on advice from the Feds
-
COVID & AFL 2021
I call it as I see it, wanting a boycott by supporters if they imposed vaccination certificate for a GF and you due to age weren’t going to have sufficient time to get the Pfizer vaccine, but you chose not to get the A-Z - that was your choice Wanting the team not to win it this year if YOU can’t get there, in the hope we get back again next year and it’s at the G I have a Dees supporting mate who was born in 65, followed us at the G and across all other grounds through the dark days of the 70s, 80s and through the Neeld years. He wants nothing more than to see a Flag, he’s been fighting a terminal illness for 18 months and is just hanging in there. He’s a fighter and will be lucky to see Christmas let alone next September. So pardon me if I pull you up and calling you out on it being all on your terms
-
COVID & AFL 2021
You’re actually selfish and there’s no guarantee you will be able to go next year either. Every response and comment you have made on this topic is about you being able to get to the game and nothing about just wanting what’s best for the team and players you support.

COVID & AFL 2021
You have heard what South Australia are doing to the returned Olympic Athletes who have done their 14days quarantine in the NT and are now having to do another 14 days. Yep really less onerous
