  1. I don’t agree with this, in terms of hedging bets because we’ve been at our best when losing the clearances but providing immediate heat and pressure to the ball carrier. Libba feeds it out and that is where he does the damage, but it’s not as damaging as the players who are setting up entries by foot once it gets outside. Shut down Macrae and give him no room so even if he gets it every disposal is under pressure. Same with Bont and Daniel Just my opinion
  2. I’d like us to go with the high pressure game across the ground. I’m undecided on dropping Frisch or Weid and going with two permanent talls because IMO Frisch plays as a tall because he offers minimal pressure at ground level. Max and Jacko rotate as the other big option forward when not on the ball Salem comes in for Jetta and if he’s not right I’d bring Lockhart in Viney and Sparrow would be great but not sure Jack will get up though B. Lever. Petty Hibberd HB. Rivers May Salem C. Langdon Oliver Brayshaw HF. Sparrow Weid Jackson F. Pickett Trac Spargo R. Gawn, Trac, Viney I/C. Jordon, Nibbler, Harmes, Hunt Sub. Fritsch
  3. Mark it down as it happens every year, we’ll win at least. two of Dogs x 2, Lions, Port, Eagles and will drop one of the W’s you have penciled in. Plenty to work on from Saturday and there will be more identified issues from the Brissy and Dogs games, but you’re better getting exposed to your flaws now. I actually like that we finish with 3 really tough games in our last 4.
  4. I watched Aquila’s vs Wesley college in PSA Saturday expecting to get a look at Taj Woewodin, but he was playing colts for East Freo where he was named amongst the best players. Chad Warner’s brother was absolutely dominant player on the ground for Aquinas. Ball use was exceptional, decision making was very good and ability to move through traffic also very good. Wesleys ruckman Riley Sprigg was the best big man on the ground could be a late pick although another with the choice between cricket and footy. Nice soft hands for a ruckman and disposal is good for a big man. I think would develop well under AFL standard conditioning coach
  5. Clark is and whilst a Guildford Grammar boy he’s actually from down Fremantle way Menegola is also a Freo CBC boy Quintan Narkle Wesley College boy
  6. I believe the Cats, no new information heard it late last year from someone who is usually on the money with regard to Freo. As we know with the Langdon deal these things are usually done well in advance
  7. He’s going to be involved somewhat in the Cerra returning to Victoria deal I believe
  8. Not sure haven’t seen him this season. Was hoping to watch him but games conflict with my boy who’s a Yr 10 and attending a different school
  9. Shane is coaching at North Freo in A Grade ammos, doing some academy work with winning edge and is one of the development coaches at Wesley College in Perth. Interesting PSA fixture this weekend where Wesley host Aquila’s College where Taj plays
  10. 6.Clarrie 5.Lever 4.Langdon 3. Salem 2. May 1.Jordon
  11. I agree it's good for them and the best for the club, just think the type of platers they are, they will want to play every week and not want to miss any of the journey
  12. If you’re in this side at the moment there’s no way you want to rested.
  13. 6. Clarrie 5.Tmac 4.May 3.Jordon 2. Salem 1. Harmes
  14. If you've been on the Forum for the last few years you'll know he/she's not here to post anything positive
  15. IMO in the squad of 40 we would currently have Lever, Oliver, Trac, Langdon, Gawn, May, Salem, Pickett with May, Lever, Salem, Langdon, Trac and Gawn all in, and Oliver also would be close
  16. Pretty much at all times
  17. There’s no issue with Kossies actions in a nutshell Wins a free for high contact off the footy Converts the free and as most other players do he runs toward Mansell to let him know he’s cost his side a goal Mansell grabs Kossie high again and a melee occurs Kossie isn’t arrogant as Cornes has said pointing to the scoreboard to a 2nd game player, it is only when 2 time premiership player Liam Baker becomes involved he points Baker towards the scoreboard. IMO no issue
  18. George is still a great guy, my oldest boy is a half decent player and George is a bit of a mentor to him, some really sound advice and just hits the kid with some good reality and perspective. Loves a beer a punt and to chat about the game Left Subiaco for the Saints after the 72 season and they broke a big Premiership drought in 73 under Ross Smith. I asked him if he regretted missing out on a flag and he said no Saints offer was handsome set him up well and he made so many great lifelong friends. George aLso played state cricket for WA and A grade club cricket in Vic with Carlton. Played at St Kilda til around 79/80 and played in the inaugural state of origin game in 77. He came back player coach for Wembley A Grade Ammos. Was involved in the footy department at West Coast for a long period when they first entered the comp
  19. You clearly haven’t learned from your post the other night when you admit to posting whilst being under the influence. Are you even old enough to drink It’s posts like these which opposition supporters laugh at. Beware the wounded champion, you don’t win 3 flags in 4 years and play preliminary finals 4 times without being a good side. They will play finals and we have shown them we can stand the heat and we’re a contender, but let’s be clear we are a different side but we have achieved nothing. I look forward to being hated and envied supporters. I want that mantle because we follow a side who they hate because we are tough and we beat up on the side others support. I don’t want to be hated because our supporters show no class and don’t acknowledge other good players and sides. By all means Demons supporters enjoy the win, be proud but show class and be humble otherwise you become like those we laugh at Rant over
  20. I’m still stunned, but actually realising I’m now following a serious team. We’ve all seen plenty of momentum builds and promising moments with waves of good form over the last 34 years with a couple of good September runs, but IMO not this. This team is different seriously different and dare I say it they have a lot more improvement in the forward 50 with their finishing. After watching the replay earlier I took the dog for a walk and on returning home had a quick chat with my neighbour ex Saint George Young, who said you don’t win flags in April, but geez they are very good. They are so hard at the contest, tackle with ferocity and just defend well all over the ground. I said I’m not getting ahead of myself(trying to be humble) and he said no mate enjoy this they are going to get better they are tough, hungry, well organised, can play have some real star quality and the core are now 100+ games in I felt good after a chat and it wasn’t just me thinking I’d seen something different since Round 1 this year which has built
  21. Watching the replay after this morning's driveway dawn service. Said it to a few people all ready in response to SMS messages saying "your boys look good" This is the best Demons side I've seen in my time (1980). I've seen teams with better individual players and more star factor but not a team that is structurally better and which does the basics and 1%ers so well. They are playing with purpose and look like they love playing for/with each other and finally believe they can go very very deep and maybe all the way
  22. What will also be interesting is he never says anything bad about his old teammate Adam Simpson. Two things to talk about this week going against the grain for him
  23. 6. Trac 5. Salem 4. Clarrie 3. Gawn 2. Jackson 1. Tmac but absolute team effort across the board just doing the basics
  24. Taj was meant to play Rd 1 today of the PSA competition for Aquinas vs Trinity, but all games are off this weekend
  25. Swan Valley McQueen is who he’s playing for, with another ex Guildford Grammar, Swan Districts and ex AFL player David Ellard. Although their two grounds are about 200m apart
