  1. Great to have you aboard. I am originally from Tallaght and we immigrated to Australia when I was a child, although I spent several years living back in Dublin in the early to mid 90s. Played GAA for Thomas Davis and worked in Firhouse, Dundrum and other places so know St Endas, Ballyroan, Delaney pub, Club Sarah, Yellow House Nutgrove etc very well
  2. Yes did it a few times, remember one time I did it in December with deep snow when I was a kid, nearly ended up with hypothermia. Few hours in front of the fireplace when I got home to thaw out
  3. Big thanks S6S, great photos. Woey and Rivers both look in extremely good condition
  4. Hellfire Dub ? With a username like that where are you from
  5. Shane’s brother Dallas is one of the most talented players you will ever see, but unfortunately just lacks the commitment and some off field stuff impacted him. I know Claremont put a lot of work into him but it wasn’t for him
  6. 44 is young to me Thanks to you and WCW for the training reports
  7. I have worked with a lot of boys from the Kimberley including Mcadams brother and they aren’t the best trainers but flexibility is needed in the way to communicate and tailor their training to get the best out of them. The effort is well worth it when you see the talent they possess and the Xfactor that can turn a game in 10 minutes
  8. 100% agree on Payton, anyone else out the door With regards to Simpson the two years would have had to have been paid out in full, some negotiating was tried but no budging on his part. I believe Josh Carr was sounded out but didn’t want to return to WA. Would have considered moving to Melbourne (the city) but has a very good support network in Adelaide for a young family and is the highest paid assistant in the AFL
  9. Payton has turned things around though Simpson’s contract saved him
  10. I don’t think he means all at once, Mcvee was a nobody this time last year, Bowey was 5 games winning a flag and I dare say whilst Hunt was in our best 22 Bowey offered us far more with his ball use. Teams who fail to turn over their group get passed by not to mention the best side changes from week to week depending upon opposition, tactics and conditions
  11. I’m sorry but it does if you don’t regularly introduce younger players. It comes very quickly if you don’t constantly turn your list over and they all start to plateau around the same time.
  12. It doesn’t have to mean that at all, a few fresh faces can rejuvenate the list very quickly
  13. Because when you don’t you end up falling off a massive cliff like West Coast and similar to the Dees when we didn’t turn the list over in Danners latter years
  14. I’d say when Gus put us 5 points up with a minute to go in the 2021 GF and Bevo failed to send a runner out telling English to hit down and in close, playing a sweeper and lock it in at all costs trumps it by a fair way
  15. Sensible post with a long term view as opposed to many who think if we don’t win it in 2024 that’s it for a decade
  16. Stop talking logic, the naysayers want to feel important. These things are so hard to win, we’ve given ourselves good chances the last two seasons. Overload and wear and tear injuries hit us in 2022 and we learned from that with our player/load management in 2023 to give ourselves a good shot at it. What happened to Petty and Melksham really hurt us heading into finals and there was nothing we could do about that. The significance of those two missing out to our forward structure can not be understated especially against Collingwood and tying up Moore but such is life. Fagan and Hinkley would love 1 so posters are comparing Apples and oranges as usual
  17. You can’t win, those calling for Oliver to be there to make a statement are the same who say words and statements in pre season means little, it’s all about peering on game day and in particular at the pointy end of the season
  18. You’ll find that would be very much tongue in cheek, well at least from Scotty Cummings. Our boys played together when the family moved back to Perth in 2022 and they speak fondly of Melbourne. They loved their time there and love getting back over there.
  19. Welcome aboard Caleb, here’s to a long and fruitful career
  20. Welcome aboard Koltyn, looking forward to watching you in the red and blue
  21. Yep agree he’s going to be a gun and whilst I don’t think they’re as bad as many think I’m also aware their potential to move up the ladder slightly next season is based on getting good seasons out of McGovern, Yeo, Darling, Barrass and Allen. 3 of those have one good season left in them. I really rate Hewitt and Ginbey is a really good culture maker with Long showing snippets of talent, but they really need to increase the amount of good quality young players coming through
  22. Curtin did his hammy in the Colts GF and played out the game, but he ain’t one of us so we welcome Caleb and Koltyn
  23. Ffs it’s been widely reported he wanted to be with family and there was logistical issues with family members travelling over from regional WA. We’re in the beginning of our harvest in WA which also would have played a part, but let’s let MFCSS override several legitimate reasons
