  2. After a poor first half much better second half and some positives Like the fwd structure of JVR, Jeffo, Melk and Fritsch. Fritsch workrate and team first today good to see makes the team better Clarrie showed some of his clean quick hands around the stoppages Jeffo leading patterns are good and he halved several contests
  3. Yet that view on here with regards to Thompson to Scott is a convenient argument for many who want to believe Goody inherited a gun list from Roos. TU you will never win or even reach middle ground with a few on here
  4. I had heard this to GE, however it was in the pre season and leading up to last season. Which is no surprise given the turmoil which went on. The source has confirmed it was sorted out amongst the group and with the involvement of Goody and Greeny. I trust the source yet I’m aware that in every team and player group you will always have unhappy players, comms can’t be great can at times mean anything, some players don’t like what they are being told and you will always get personally clashes
  5. There actually isn’t. If you think Goodwin being sacked will suddenly make some posters rays of sunshine. You’re mistaken I’ve been on here for 20+ years and have yet to see some posters actually post anything positive. It’s just how life is, Goodwin is absolutely on thin ice and I dare say lose to North and Carlton over the next fortnight and the decision may be made. But posters coming on here and posting absolute rubbish does no good and actually damages their credibility. Whether as a poster you’re in the Keep Goodwin, sack Goodwin or starting to sway camp that’s fine we all have different views but provide balanced arguments with some facts, general rants are pointless. Goodwin fluked a flag We won because of Covid Yze masterminded the Premiership Burgess having us at supreme fitness levels was why we won Yze and Burgess are in no way responsible for the performances and straight set exits in 22 & 23 that’s all on Goodwin We only lost in 23 because Brayshaw was knocked out Goodwin is to stubborn and hasn’t changed the game plan Why can’t Goodwin get these players to be in sync with this new game plan We lost because of the umpires Goodwin needs to persevere with the kids When Goodwin plays the kids he threw them to the wolves Player A must have photos of Goodwin I could go on, we’re in our current predicament for a number of reasons some within our control and some outside our control. Personally I’m not over the moon with the current situation, however I have seen positive things within our system and ball movement, which can click for a sustained period. There are many negatives too and things are never as good or as bad as they seem. Some big decisions need to be made within the football department and with the list. Big calls on some Premiership heroes are required and Goodwin needs to be involved in making those calls which may impact long term relationships but that’s what you have to do if you want to keep your job and change the list. Whatever occurs Demonland will remain with its posters firing shots at the coach, players and the club it’s how they’re wired Anyway 7 games for our season to go and I’ll see how that pans out
  6. Yes but as you know from being a long time poster if he re-signs all those who took Tom Morris as Gospel and saw it as further ammunition and opportunity to kick Goody and the club, will post on the I got it wrong thread and fail to jump to conclusions again
  7. Curtin is a gun
  8. Same way many turned on Bowey last season and Chandler the previous year. Amazing what good pre seasons and getting over the 50-80 game mark does to improve a player’s awareness and ability to play at AFL level does.
  9. 6.May 5.Turner 4.Gawn 3.Viney 2.Melk 1.Pickett
  10. Good summary, I’m astounded some are saying we haven’t changed the game plan. Whilst we’ve seen some of the old long bomb rear it’s head in the last 4 games it’s more to do with old heads reverting to ingrained habits as opposed to a game plan of getting it in deep and quick to the pocket to lock it in. The way we’re trying to move it from the back half is the big change, it’s looked really good at times but also broken down with not everyone totally in sync. Having said that Goody may not see the rebuild on the run out, this is where the President and CEO not being in place yet may be a factor. Everyone needs to be on the same page and stability is your best player.
  11. Petracca was controllable, really [censored] it was a game day collision
  12. So who won us the 2021 Flag, Yze, Burgess or Goodwin, can you make up your mind
  13. Well done Roan you will play at least 1 more AFL game than me but FFS I’m sick of posters taking any opportunity to kick the club. Missing out on Steele isn’t why we find ourselves in the current situation. It’s not like we haven’t thrown a lifeline to VFL and state league players without some success
  14. Very good post, I think Trac needs to be played a lot more as a forward, under no circumstances would I have all 3 at a CBD. Goody is at a crossroads where his loyalty to these players is impacting the game plan. When we were showing good signs either Viney or Oliver were missing and it was very obvious how both Clarry and Trac were looking to handball to the runner as opposed to bombing long. With finals gone Goodwin needs to continue with the evolving game plan, no matter who the players are who won’t buy in move passed them. Play Rivers in the middle with Kossie and one of Trac/Oliver/Viney. Try Lindsay in there Mcvee, Bowey, Langford or Windsor in there for short stints. You never know what you will find.
  15. He is a fantastic coach, but old mate Swyl would have sacked him after the straight sets loss in 2014 and not even making finals in 2015. We’re a very different beast to Geelong though. I’m undecided on Goodwin as it stands, my mind will be likely swayed by the way we finish the season. Whatever the outcome not just changing the coach is needed, big decisions need to be made, Clarry is a constant distraction and whilst he’s been an absolute star a change IMO would be good for both parties and Fritsch also needs to go
  16. Think about it Geelong were up under Thompson from 2004-2010 repeated finals with a bad year in 2006 when the club stood firm when everyone wanted him Sacked Scott took over in 2011 won a flag first year with some criticism that it wasn’t his list and he just inherited an A grade side. You wanted Goodwin sacked after Premiership and two more finals appearances. You wanted us to appoint Yze as coach on what grounds, let me understand again he was responsible for 21 yet not responsible in any way for the straight sets losses in 22 and 23 We would have been absolutely hounded if we sacked him then, just like we would have been crucified had we let Oliver go when we signed him to a big contract in 21. I seem to recall you being one of the most vocal how bad it was that he was even being talked about as leaving. Well that in hindsight is another noose we could have done without. He is under pressure now because of 2024 and 2025, but saying he should have been let go in 23 is absolutely ludicrous
  17. I love your selective quotes Geelong went away and got better after the 2021 PF, Please tell me about what they did after 2020 GF loss 2019 PF loss after being minor premiers 2018 eliminated by us 2017 PF loss to Adelaide 2016 PF loss at the G to Sydney 2015 no finals 2014 out in straight sets 2013 PF loss after losing WF to Freo at the Cattery 2012 EF loss to Freo at the G By your logic you would have shown Scott the door after 2015 Even more so taking into account the star studded lineup he has at his disposal with the salary cap wrought you also love to bang on about. Goody is on thin ice but wanting out after 23 typical hyperbole by yourself. Thinking before typing is something I recommend for you rather then regurgitating the usual cliches and failing to respond when you’re asked a question specific to the actual game
  18. He joined here 2 weeks ago
  19. Yes they are, but he is a game changer, ability is one thing to have but his work rate coupled with that makes him a very special player in the Ablett jnr mould. He would change any team overnight
  20. What do you want us to say FFS we’re are 14th because we haven’t won enough games, that’s a fact. To you and your ilk everything needs to be black and white, anything in the grey requires greater thought. We kicked poorly against GWS, Collingwood and Hawthorn in games we played well there’s 3 more wins, we played [censored] against Saints and had we kicked straight win that. However all that does is paper over some cracks. I’m actually done trying to explain the changes to people like you It’s a waste of time, you either can’t or refuse to see the changes in how we’re trying to pla. All you do is continually bag our players particularly the younger ones. As I said stop following or stay miserable I’m done with you
  21. Can you explain why Brisbane beat Geelong at the Cattery, yet drew with North and lost to us, Richmond beat the Suns. That should tell you how close things can be and how quickly they turn. You and others need to stop following because it’s not good for you all see is negativity.
  22. That’s nonsense old Dee and you know it, you’re back where you were in 2019 to mid 2021 wallowing in self pity. Average players playing their role and stepping up win you big games like Frampton clamping down on Andrews in the 23 GF, Fort stepping up in the GF last year, Hickey competing through the 22 season and in finals to get Sydney to the GF, sure we got to a prelim with Frost and Omac playing as key defenders. And there are many more. Teams like Carlton, Essendon and St Kilda have fallen foul of paying so much of their salary cap on a few stars and having a very poor bottom 6. It’s not our younger players who are the problem and when we get more games into them they will have greater consistency, we just need to continue building the youth and we can (like before) cash in on the free agents when May, Gawn, Lever etc cash frees up
  23. Do you rate North or Richmond’s youngsters?
  24. I’m sorry but Nibbler was with us last season how were we not winning more games last season. Do you also understand Adelaide effectively play 4 tall forwards in Walker, Thilthorpe, Fogarty and Curtin who play a long down the line style of game, there is always at least one of them presenting high up the ground as a transition option from defence. So their F50 entries are very much to a contest.
  25. We COMPETED(to quote you) post 2021, post 2023 was a different matter If you think there hasn’t been a change in ball movement you’re wrong. It’s there unfortunately it’s there just not fully engrained with the F50 entries
