WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN
Pennant St Dee replied to Little Richard's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't kid yourself because you review stats and watch lots of video clips you are any kind of guru on drafting. I have watched this kid and he is an absolute gun, size speed, mongrel, attacks contests hard, 1%ers that assist teamates and creates opportunity and goals for others. He is the best young forward I have seen in WA since Buddy and that includes Mitch Clark, Darling and Polak who was a gun as a kid but liked to indulge a bit. I saw Hogans last game when he kicked the 4 goals and had 20 odd disposals and was with some WA recruiters who knew they were witnessing something special. It was said there and then this kid is gone mini draft certainty. I know for certain Bulldogs were into him after that prelim loss when his season was over I don't care whether we take Toumpas, Wines or O'Rourke, Viney and Hogan brings to the club what I love most in players so this week couldn't get any better Welcome aboard Hoges! -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY

Todd was my favourite Dee and would have been gutted had we missed out on Jack, love hard nuts and we need them. From what I have seen everything about this kid has had me saying just get this kid. Couldn't be happier, icing on the cake for me would be Hogan & Toumpas! Welcome Jack looking forward to seeing you run out next year -

I like this very much as it is great for the club and sees us getting our hands on hopefully 3 quality mids, 2 hard at it and 1 with some genuine spedd & class. However don't like the bit about Pick 13 & Martin to Pies keep it and target best kid available. Still not sure on what is best on trading for pick in mini draft to get Hogan have seen him live and really liked him but every year kids pop up. I am also against trading away Pick 13 for Dawes. Out of curiosity if JV is not nominated by Suns or Giants how about trading away our second round pick for an established player where does that leave us with JV -
Seriously got to love the trade period, I thought being brought up a Catholic, tooth fairy, Easter & Christmas was the biggest time in your life when you heard fanciful stories, well I think teh trade period well and truly replaces those old myths
-
Like the look of him from brief highlights I have seen, may be small for a forward but seems (and pardon my french) to have thatbit of c%*t about him which every team needs. No more bruise free footy with the likes of him, Viney and possibly a Wines in our side. Also another year into our younger guys who by now will be sick off being pushed around by the bigger sides. I recall the Cats about 9 years ago getting pushed around by the bigger and older sides now look at them So what if we have to take JV at Pick 3 look at Membrey if available at Pick 22/23 or whatever it is and if JV goes to second round would not be adverse at taking Membrey at 13 if best available

Olisik I appreciate you are a keen fan and like to help everyone out with possible scenarios but seriously do yourself a favour and stay away from everything until the trade period is over you will do yourself no amount of good changing your view with every media announcement -

Good on you Jack have faith in your ability and throw a spanner in the works, Gold Coast & Gws can now think along the lines of Melbourne may have told Viney we wont take you at 3, so be prepared to go north if they really want you. No the ball is in the Suns & Giants court do they take the risk Many on here slated the club for the way they played out the Scully saga, but in hindsight it was perfectly orchestrated and we ended up with the same compensation as the Cats did for the best player in the AFL -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES
Pennant St Dee replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agreed if Pies have salary cap pressures we have the upper hand and would not give up Pick 3 o4 4 for them, think of Freo giving up Pick 1 in 2001 draft for Mcpharlin and Croad, Mcpharlin is still a star and Croad only ever player 1 good game for Freo against us at Subi in 2002 when he kicked 7. The icing on the cake for that trade was missing out on Judd -

Can't be that bad he was running around the tan the other day with Luke Ball -
I'm glad you said that WYL so many talking him up as a gun, which he is far from. Tends to butcher it a bit but has good defensive qualities, runs hard, spreads and provides options as well as doing the 1%ers. Good fit for the right price

Seriously how many times must it be said don't believe everything journos write and get your heads around manager's saying certain things to maintain face and trying to get the best deal for their player. Meth Coast have not offered Sharrod a lot more financially than Collingwood, Freo have said no thanks to paying big money for him, Collingwood need to find room in their cap and will have already worked out a figure they can afford. Nowhere is it directly quoted I don't want to go to Melbourne because they have no winning culture. He has not met with us so does not know the offer we will put to him His manager does not want him to come across as a mercenary so says something along the lines of Sharrods decision will be all about money, remaining at a succesful club with a strong culture will play a big part in his decision. It's not that difficult to figure out FFS

Please listen like the rest of demonland and hear what you want to hear
-
I'm hearing you but we haven't picked him up by day 2, which incidently only relates to free agency for the handwringers But what would Harrington know, does he not read facebook or check daily with the recruiting gurus we have on demonland
-
+ 1 not much experience in life I'm thinking, Dear christ nothing has happened by day 2 we must be doing nothing FFS
-
Think we will find a lot of deal being done with Dawes/Brown & Wellingham being off loaded to ease salary cap restictions

FFS How old are you have you been in the real world long, if you are in a multi million dollar business and are going to risk Pick 2 on a kid who has his heart set on playing for another club what would you do 1) You think he is the missing piece in a jigsaw so you interview him as per a normal interview of prospective draftees 2) Interview a second time because the kid comes across well as he has been in the system a while and would have been through I/V training. Now in this interview you see if he gives away anything he may know of Melbournes intentions and you would ask him what were his long term intentions The answers in the second interview would determine if Melbourne are bluffing or not, Pick 2 is a big risk for them given what's available and lots of egg on their face if they look at another Caddy situation. Recruiters have to answer to people if he turns out to be a gun they have to justify not nominating him, if he is with them and goes home after two years they have to justify why they picked him -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CAMERON PEDERSEN
Pennant St Dee replied to Hannibal's topic in Melbourne Demons
FFS think back how dominant they were with Dawes, Cloke & Brown thats the reason they will look at Lynch, Martin, Pederson and Mcintosh -
Brad Hardie still adamant on 6PR tonight Lynch will be coming to us, does not believe Pies can get any where near our offer. Also said despite all the hypre re Freo & Meth Coast thinks we are still in the running for Wellingham. Wellingham likes the lifestyle in Melbourne and the only reason he would leave Pies is for extra money and by going to Dees may be able to remain in Victoria and get decent cash Food for thought
-
Demonlanders nothing on WA radio except Collingwood front runners for Lynch and Carlton next in line. The only trade being discussed during the news related to Freo announcing they will chase Danyle Pearce. Reading the thread here seems to suggest Lynch to Pies done deal, barring facebook, big footy and dart throwing journo's can any of you provide confirmation either way or are we looking at another Clark to Freo scenario Cheers
-
Meth Coast for years have had a philosophy of not giving away trade picks, they will not give away their first pick for Wellingham!
-
Yep hate Meth Coast but admire and respect their professionalism, will bring a lot of experience. Don't underestimate having him and Clark in the same forward line, would like to see young Membrey picked up as well
-
Enough with wanting to pick up other clubs rejects
Pennant St Dee replied to Parma's topic in Melbourne Demons
If we have serious coin pretty confident we will get 1 or 2, might not be Goddard or Kennedy but there are always players who you can land with good coin. The right trade and mney will get you Gaff from Meth Coast or Rockliff from Lions. With plenty on offer an aim of targeting players from teams who are on there downward turn Del Santo, Ryan Griffen not saying these guys but target these sorts as an option
