PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 22nd January 2024
Pennant St Dee replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks for the training report PF, much appreciated -
How is it risky, across the ground you’re open to being involved in a collision by way of a deliberate bump, friendly fire or accidental contact. If you’re passed fit you go where best suited. We’re not talking a short time after incident
-
Rivers, Nev Jetta, Stephen/Matthew Febey, Woewodin (was moved on), Petracca, Neale-Bullen and I could go on but basically we can throw anything in to provide an alternative view
-
Every players height and weight gets done from development through seniors and done every season
-
It happens in the WAFL weekly footy Budget only the male listed players across all grades have their weight published the female players don’t it’s height only
-
I don’t think we’re a lock, we need a lot of improvement in speed of ball movement forward entries and separation clearance and cbd spread staying healthy is also vital
-
Agree I have loved him from day 1 and believe he’s seriously underrated by non Demons. However I have no doubt with the knowledge the club has regarding Clarrys personal matters, planning will be very much based on scenarios where he isn’t in the line up. We’re better with him but 1 player doesn’t make a team especially when you have virtually an entire preseason to plan with him not being there. If Clarry plays it’s a bonus and I’m very much a person who doesn’t worry about who I haven’t got and worries about who I have got. Players and coaching staff I would think will have the same mindset
-
Yes he is saying that even though it was well known Goody engages with the players from the bench whilst Yze took the reigns and called the shots from the coaches box on match day
-
The WAFL equivalent of the Football Record “The Budget” only publishes the weight of the League, Ressies and Colts players the WAFL Women’s senior and Rogers Cup (Colts) players do not have their weight published
-
Don’t ask him a football related question It would be like asking Ivan Milat on how to boost tourism
-
Okay just remember your place, leave the knowledgeable to discuss what is happening onfield and you can continue to wallow in your miserable MFCSS world. Then again it was you calling for Goodwin to resign last season after our loss to Carlton. I have no doubt you have never had to plan for a footy season and ride the highs and lows it brings whilst accepting and acknowledging how hard flags are to win and having that mindset that if everything goes right you can win it. You curse things and go through everything mentally what you did and didn’t do but you don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater and you certainly don’t fail to acknowledge progression in developing players and continuous list improvement
-
Because it provides a narrative for Footballing journalists to discuss and fill content Nothing else FFS they closed the Cats window more times in the last decade than the Montague St bridge

Don’t expect the rest of us to be as narrow minded as yourself and others. Theres a difference between being disappointed and being angry when there are things beyond your control which have massive impacts and don’t even think of going down the Grundy line with regard to matters within our control as it would have had zero impact on our forward structure in those finals. The supporters you accuse of not being angry enough are the same supporters you accused of accepting mediocrity when they brought to yours and others attention numerous times what was happening with the development of the team. They told you a lot of luck in terms of everything going right is needed to win flags and we had that in 2021. What occurred in the proceeding 2 seasons is to do with human nature, luck and learnings. Yes that word everyone hates Learnings, we started 2022 like a house on fire and fell into a decline, but let’s be honest what were to expect having gone in as reigning premiers for the first time in 57 years. But you want us to be angry that they couldn’t foresee that and that they couldn’t foresee the Petty, Fritsch and Melksham injuries. But then again that’s me making excuses and accepting mediocrity as opposed to being a realist
-
Things are never as good as they seem and (despite what many on Demonland will portray) things are never as bad as they seem. It doesn’t take much to impact your chances coming in to finals as we’ve seen in 23 and sometimes taking a step back or injury to a key player nets you a piece or two in the jigsaw or exposes a player to greater responsibility which after a while creates what came only a few seasons ago That is why it’s a fascinating game

Neither did he in 2016

Funny people have different views on games, I was surprised on the day he won it. He turned the ball over numerous times though, his run off half back was eye catching but after re watching that game a few times I haven’t changed my mind he’d be 5th at best in my BOG that day 1. McRae - every disposal connected and set up transition. Super clean all day and composed with ball in hand 2. Boyd - best big man on the ground impacted aerial contest all day by clunking or bringing the ball to ground and impacted the scoreboard 3. Kennedy - was just a contested beast, close to the best stoppage display in a GF, virtually turned the momentum himself in the second quarter 4. Picken - kept bobbing up as half forward providing pressure and hit up option whilst also impacting the scoreboard 5. Then JJ

Great to have you aboard. I am originally from Tallaght and we immigrated to Australia when I was a child, although I spent several years living back in Dublin in the early to mid 90s. Played GAA for Thomas Davis and worked in Firhouse, Dundrum and other places so know St Endas, Ballyroan, Delaney pub, Club Sarah, Yellow House Nutgrove etc very well

Yes did it a few times, remember one time I did it in December with deep snow when I was a kid, nearly ended up with hypothermia. Few hours in front of the fireplace when I got home to thaw out

Shane’s brother Dallas is one of the most talented players you will ever see, but unfortunately just lacks the commitment and some off field stuff impacted him. I know Claremont put a lot of work into him but it wasn’t for him -

I have worked with a lot of boys from the Kimberley including Mcadams brother and they aren’t the best trainers but flexibility is needed in the way to communicate and tailor their training to get the best out of them. The effort is well worth it when you see the talent they possess and the Xfactor that can turn a game in 10 minutes- 130 replies

If we miss the final 8 next year then ...
Pennant St Dee replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
100% agree on Payton, anyone else out the door With regards to Simpson the two years would have had to have been paid out in full, some negotiating was tried but no budging on his part. I believe Josh Carr was sounded out but didn’t want to return to WA. Would have considered moving to Melbourne (the city) but has a very good support network in Adelaide for a young family and is the highest paid assistant in the AFL
