Our defence was strong. They had no tall tagerts worth kicking it to. Our mids did a great job to break about even with theirs. Gawn nullified Minsons dominace. Our tall forwards were great. Held marks they usually spill. Even Fitzy played with confidence after kickinga great goal from the boundry. Gawn was spent by 3 quarter time. I have never seen a player that worn out. He looked like he was about to fall over. Minson started to win every tap with strength and ease and Cooney, Griffen and Libba were unstoppable around the packs.

Neeld would have been happy with a 5 goal loss.

Great work by Gawn. But he was out of energy in the last quarter and Minsons ruck work was a major part of their comeback. Griffen and Cooney were incedible in that last 15 min. Good to see that Fitzy might actually be alright when our delivery is better. He looked a lot less nervous tonight.

After backing him for years I have finally given up on Strauss. I was stoked when we called out Tapscotts name but have my doubts now. Hopefully the new coach will start developing players to individual plans rather than try and force every player to be an endurance runner. I dunno, maybe except that Sammy Blease may never be an full time mid and start playing him on where he can use his bursts of speed? Maybe put Tapscott in a role where he can out muscle his opponant instead of trying to make him run his guts out each week?
