  1. Agree. If he was interested i think he would make an excellent coach with an apprenticeship under his belt. Hopefully at Demonland.
  2. Quite a tough coach's call here. Much respect for someone with this pedigree and history. I have no doubt Goody will recognise this and balance it with the needs (reality) of list/team in due course. Can Jordy keep up his last four weeks? Maybe four weeks is enough. Take a break / managed. Back again the week after for another three to four Bloody handy voice / on field coach to have given there's no runners now. Understands the nuances of the game and forward craft probably better than most at the club other than Jeffy. Could potentially sort out some of the problems and mess that is our forward system and craft right now. Lots to weigh up. Let's look at the top 10 goal kickers (on averages) this season using only the last four weeks averages for Jordy & Fritschkreig, given they only truly entered the fray since Rnd 17 vs the Dogs.... Fritschkreig 2.75 Lewis 1.50 Jeffy 1.29 T-Mac 1.20 Melk 1.11 Tracc 1.11 (total average of the last four players here = 4.71 vs Fritschkreig & Lewis 4.25, pretty much matching our best four forward players for the year between the two of them) Smith 1.00 Weid 1.00 Hunt 1.00 Lockhart 0.75 (total average of the bottom four players = 3.75 vs Fritschkreig & Lewis 4.25, kicking 0.5 goals more per match than these four put together!).
  3. Big novice when it comes to trade time so excuse my ignorance but... Hill is a must get. Langdon i have no idea as i haven't watched him closely at all really. We are severley lacking in this player type and skill set though (Hill). Im not sure why we are re-signing depth players when we are in dire need of two quality outsiders, a genuine KF & two small forwards. We can't wait and hope that rookies will just miraculously fill these key roles with such a narrow window available. Surely there's plenty of dead wood or surplus depth players that can be traded and/or delisted to free up the salary cap, improve our coffers and go on a shopping spree!??
  4. IF we are going after Richo and land him can we at least put him in the coaches box vs the Saints to improve our chances of winning
  5. A key factor in us making finals and getting to a prelim last year. No coincidence that our season took off when he returned about Rnd 15. Hard as a cats head, big bodied, hits hard and has football smarts / poise to go with it. Clever decision maker who seems to get when to play fast or otherwise. Decent overhead and knows where the sticks are. As a HHF roaming through the middle and occasionaly drifting deep forward, a coaches dream with a hard edge and work rate. You want a bit of extra pressure on the opp up forward or through the middle...he's your man. Pitty about the bloody injuries. Sorely missed this season.
  6. The problem was LD that aside from the times he was pushing alot further up the ground ie; beyond the centre square (later rounds) Fritshkreig was completely innefective down back, directly leaking about 15 goals if these numbers are on. And that was up to about Rnd 15 or so before being moved forward. Might have hit some sort of record had Goody kept playing him there. I get the idea of trialing him there for a few games but to persist for nearly 4 months when it was obvious it wasn't clicking from about Rnd 5ish...hmm.
  7. I have no doubt Mr Leg. I am just seeking an edge which we haven't had for 55 years or so, barring a few years under Swooper. He might be the perfect foil for Macca and prove me wrong should he end up in a the inner sanctum.
  8. Richo is probably a very nice fellow but i'm not sure we really need, or can afford to pay for, a failed coach from another failed club with a long history of failing.
  9. Might have a hard time convincing him to leave here AD...
  10. Ha something to do with a hoop??
  11. In an interview on SEN about Rnd 7 or so W4, Tommy was asked this & what was up re his ordinary form. He said he was cherry ripe. No fitness issues. Just a form issue. He then asked for any advice from the two interviewers (semi tongue in cheek), one of them was Rooey so he was probably genuinly interested in the response here. Don't shoot i'm just the baton.
  12. Delivery inside 50 certainly and defensive two way stuff for sure but a failed forward line hasn't helped with their ability to recover in time (aerobically & just covering the ground in time) SW. Improve the latter (FL) in a big way, some outside class and speed. May, Hore, Lever, Nev, hopefully less turnovers im key areas from Frosty and we just might have one of the top defences in 2020. Maxy, Clarry, Harmes, Tracc, Salem a bit of Melk (part time) a raw but developing Dunkley. Add two classy outsiders to assist Harmes. Maybe one more classy inside/outside mid who can kick goals on the run and hit targets coming inside. The two concerns for mine Viney & Gus. Both can be your biggest asset one quarter then major turnover kings the next.
  13. Midfield is going alright though SW. Outside quality run / finish missing and a few decent forwards needed also to compliment these areas. Tracc & Gus more time in the mid field should boost the inside a tad also with Jones vacating.
  14. Thanks a heap Frap. Finally some more meaningful stats that highlight some key insights into areas of strengths and unfortunately so many weaknesses. Some of the main things that stand out for me... > The Tiges werent that far away from us at the peak of their injuries. However, the deeper quality of their list stood them in better stead. Nothing new but nice to see it confirmed. > James Harmes is the only player at the Dees ranked in the top 50 (49th) for average handball receives per game, which is an indicator of outside run. For context, Richmond have 6 players in the top 50; Collingwood have 8. ....No wonder we can't connect with all the hard and decent (AFL competitive) extraction work in the middle. There's virtually no one outside of Harmes to link up with on a regular basis. Harmes sometimes goes under the radar but here's the proof of what he brings. A rare commodity at D'land. > Forgetting the top 5 attendees for a moment, our best centre bounce player by a huge margin is....Jake Melksham. His clearance differential is 31.4, next best is Petracca (16.7), then Jones, and then to Brayshaw .... playing Brayshaw out of position for such large chunks is robbing Peter. Tracc needs to come into a major role here also to take up the gap that's occured since Jones was moved to a more defensive role. I believe Goody recognised this late and we saw him playing significantly more time here after the bye. This pretty much confirms my earlier thoughts that anyone believing we will just miraculously turn around our forward situation with the same KFs next year is in for a rude shock. T-Mac is a 2nd stringer and Weid depth only right now. > Bailey Fritsch has cost us the most amount of points from turnovers this year. His 66 turnovers for the year (ranked equal 94th in the league)have cost us 89 points directly, which is ranked 4th in the comp. ... anyone who still thinks we shouldn't have swapped anyone else capable of providing a contest in order to get Fritschkreig back to his usual forward role after it was obviously clear it wasn't working (from about Rnd 5 vs the Saints) may wish to to visit their local brain surgeon.
  15. Bedford a medium term MAYBE at this point. At least another season at Casey away from impacting (or thereabouts) IMV. A big yes to the rest of your post AND Roosts highlighted bit below. We have been too immobile for years for too many blocks of matches. Major injection of movement needed aka Fritschkreig & a little from Petty on Sat night. Melk in 2020. Why im super keen on Cameron. He offers the mobility and goal smarts and can clunk them anywhere playing outside the arc & in/around the goal square. I know we wont get him but a Lynch/Cameron/Himmelburg type is a huge must along with a few quality small forwards. Courtesy of NIC NEGREPONTIS via SEN (apologies if posted/discussed previously guys) ...."Unfortunately for key forward Jon Patton, a minor setback has delayed his return from a torn ACL last year. He was set for a return via the NEAFL, but that has been pushed back by up to three weeks. “With Patton, he was about to return a couple of weeks ago, we’ve just had a couple of minor little setbacks at training and just the final piece of the puzzle in terms of returning to play,” he said. “That might be in a few weeks time. “We were going smooth sailing there, but then we just had a couple of little setbacks so it might be another two or three weeks, but it’s hard to put a timeline on that.” End.
  16. Meant to respond to these earlier... When speaking of the broader issue surrounding the why we are where we are etc and why do certain players lack the confidence / basic skills to do the 'normal' that most other clubs get right etc... I would refrain from using the ANB horror handball in the square as a 'general' example. While ANB is not alone and i appreciate he runs his butt off, tries his best and has done more than most of us in making it to AFL, he is also renowned for having the odd brain fade or two (or more occasionally) in every other match or so. He's been doing it for years so not a good example of the "what is happening to our team" discussion. It's just what you get when you play ANB regardless of the coach, game style, year etc.
  17. Commitment has ebbed away coinciding with issues around the Jones negotiations maybe Kent. Once that starts happening a few others begin to ask why also. If 'we' know there's supposedly a bit of an issue then you can bet the leadership group knew ages ago. The rest of the players down the line gradually learning or hearing the rumours not long afterwards. It's the sort of thing that can destroy a club. Jnr Mac treatment a classic example. Jones was of course playing when all that went down as well. Let's hope history isn't repeating itself in a similar fashion down at demon HQ.
  18. Unfortunately Corey had only 6 effective disposals and that was offset by 8 turnovers Buck. So a negative net result on that side. He did lay 5 tackles and kicked a goal which is a good effort. However zero clearances and one percenters might inidicate he didn't impact much with pressure elsewhere or with his ability to get to many coal face ground ball contests. Alternatively this may have been the result of the task/role he was asked to play on the night. Nuances which are often missed within statistics. Keep in mind like all such models there is a fair degree of subjectivity. I destest turnover kings and punish them accordingly with a negative factor included as part of the player's overall net weighted score. When you are looking at Clarry's score it is constructed using the exact same weighting method as Corey's which means all his crazy handball turnovers (and any others) are captured. So yes your eyes are not deceiving you. Clarry is that good he more than makes up for the turnover factor with his general 'other' work and output. I'm afraid Pruess has been found out as not ready at this level yet in the last two matches he has played. I think his ruck work in the middle is actually not bad. Around the ground he is bog ordinary. Clunking his marking attempts more often would help his confidence a little as well. Some major work required in the off season for the big fella if he is to make it at this level me thinks.
