REQUEST: A club-wide review
Given the year the FD had i beg to differ! And what's wrong with putting your slowest into areas where you need speed SW? Surely you appreciated the double with Lewis on the other wing on occasions? We're a fussy lot at D'land. Expecting to win...well i never!

Alex Keath

List changes who do we cut, trade or go after.
Can't argue with much of that AD. Just need to add a genuine KF somehow.

List changes who do we cut, trade or go after.
I suspect our bar would be much lower than most uncle.

Ditto on that R&B. Mere speculation i would think. We couldn't be that dumb surely.

Hopefully greater emphasis on dispatching WWSW.

Max Gawn 3 x All Australian
The Bont had to be Captain surely. There was no better player / leader and helped drag them into another finals campaign.

Jordan Lewis - Assistant coach?
Classic D'land. Retiring great hints to his post playing pursuits ie; love of media and pursuing his passion for wine making, then someone starts a thread titled 'Assistant Coach?'.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
If Oliver is in any such discussions i'll eat my hat PO. And i doubt Viney would be looked at while Todd is in the house. The fact he had an interrupted pre-season, gut feel is the FD will be keeping the faith here for an expected return to 'the old Jack' in 2020 assuming a full pre-seaaon. That leaves Gus. I think his underwhelming performance leaves him a tad vulnerable. Who knows he might also want to head back home anyway to play with bro. Meant to be? Agree with the sentiment though. Something has to give as we are well 'overweight' inside mids. Time to free up some room if possible for some genuine outside and/or forward talent.

Pretty sure May would have made it in a forward role by now if he had what it takes. And Keath for that matter! While a T-Mac II (2018 version!) might be an outside chance, the old saying "you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" tends to hold true, especially with most backmen who've already been in the system for a number of years. If we end up signing more dour defenders (that are unlikely to provide a genuine outside mid run and gun option) i would start having major concerns that this FD is struggling to grasp what is truly needed to turn a rocky tug boat into a first class cruise liner. Keath a big no for mine.

Small forwards - what are our trading and draft options?
Yes pls DT. As many indigenous as possible on the outside and as small or medium small forwards. Tend to have an innate ability, a sixth sense if you will, knowing where the goals / team mates are and finish is often sublime. X factor, often great overhead and a joy to watch even if you aren't winning a match.

Small forwards - what are our trading and draft options?
No argument Jeffy was a genuine goal crumbing effective forward in his prime D3. I highlighted the small forward part though as at 180cm i saw him more as a medium small rather than a genuine small like the wiz / Ricky Jackson etc.
-
Thanks Jeffy
Earl there is no one in the AFL that does 'congested forward line' better. Everyone keeps saying there's nothing about our game plan they can dentify with. Well i beg to differ! The club obviously realises this strength and has removed all silk/X factor players now in preference for meat n potato types and ball hackers. Good on them for thinking outside the box i say. You watch....this is gonna pay off. Maybe not in 2020 but mark my words it'll be worth the wait!

Small forwards - what are our trading and draft options?
I wouldn't count on it AF. We have been devoid of a genuine top line goal kicking small forward since the Wiz. A lifetime ago in AFL years. We are Melbourne! We prefer inside plodding mids who rarely take a contested mark and love a hail mary. Don'y know about you, but seeing the high ball sailing through the air towards the goal square with 2 talls, a medium and Max or Pruess all going up together and no crumber, is enough to get my nether regions all hot n sweaty. Let's just keep doing more of that like the last 3 years or more eh #raisehell #lucifer'sloincloth

The Stephen Coniglio Thread
Under a 'fairly' run competition, having now re-signed Kelly & Coniglio on major coin, i suspect many clubs would be struggling to retain Cameron under their salary cap when he comes up in 2020, giving others a bit of a look in. Unfortunately this comp is far from fair and the AFL hierarchy are purely in it for the $$. They'll do anything to protect and grow their precious. Any dream we have of putting together a premiership list under Gil will probably remain just that!
-
The Stephen Coniglio Thread
A sad state of affairs we find ourselves in with this bloke at the helm and his siblings spread throughout the media also feeding off the scraps. They haven't bothered yet PF and that goes back to VFL era as well. Don't hold your breath. All aboard the Gil gravy train... toot toot!

What to do with Nathan Jones
I suspect he may have turned down a higher pay packet on offer elsewhere to finish as a one club Demon. A rare man of genuine loyalty in the usual trade circus. A decent pre-season vs the one cut short this year. Cleans up some questionable decision making / disposal under heat AND Goody plays him sparingly off HF & as a cameo mid (bit more time on the bench and 'managed' more professionally in season) you never know. Very difficult for someone to transition to the outside this late in a career but no doubt trying his guts out and giving it his all as always. A great clubman and true professional who deserves to go out on a high note. Good luck for 2020 Mr. Jones.
