No point keeping the ones we have either Rjay.

Should be all over Bolton & Butler. Plenty of room to move with at least another 5 to 7 trades/delists in the present list Club needs an immediate bounce back from the 2019 horribilis and the minimum pass for any sort of cred in 2020 is finals with at least one finals win. Wont happen if we don't get serious on the present list cull and 'ready made' upgrades to help take us there.

Small forwards - what are our trading and draft options?
Demon Dynasty replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon the RTOT value would be more wisely spent in this area than chasing the elusive KF rabbit rjay. Much more likely to find a few decent options unable to push their way in to the Tiger's line up and one or two other clubs with strong quality depth. Bolton as you say is a potential get. Ideally we need both but the KF options are either NQRs or a bridge too far (for us) imv. This might change if we can make finals in the next year or two but until then beggars can't be choosers. -
Small forwards - what are our trading and draft options?

It's partly by design Demonsone. How does a highly rated player like Lynch end up at a club that won a premiership only two seasons ago and has the biggest following in the League?... When we lost the likes of T$ and Frawley were we duly compensated? The NFL compensatory system attempts to put a value on any such free trade loss.... Compensatory free agents are determined by a proprietary formula, developed by the NFL Management Council, which considers a player’s salary, playing time and postseason honors. The value of the compensatory free agents gained or lost by each team is totaled, and a team is awarded picks of equal value to the net loss of compensatory free agents, up to a maximum of four Compensatory picks may be traded. The AFL has a formula also but as far as i understand it only compensates once a free agent has hit veteran status (10 years) and for restricted free agents it's 8 years minimum. I'm no expert on either compensatory system but to me the NFL one looks like it's capturing all free agent losses rather than leaving certain windows open where a club potentially receives none if it doesn't deal in the year prior to a player hitting his free agency trigger point. -

I would argue Fritsch is our 2nd at this point Macca. 2nd who can genuinly compete (great overhead) & convert effectively at least. T-Mac No.1 till we find that needle in a haystack genuine KF. Personally, unless he has a brilliant 2020, i think the Weid is a bust at AFL level other than for fringe depth in a rock solid team that's already up and going and needs a fill in for a few weeks or so to cover one of the first two up there. KFs that could take over the No.1 mantel don't grow on trees. Realistically i can't see us snagging Cameron and that leaves Patton with his dodgy knee. Anyone thinking Jenkins will turn us around must be on the turps. We might have to go small small small and just get it to ground wherever possible. Do a Richmond and hope for some decent cameo performances in between by our only tall in T-Mac (if he can work his way back to 35-40 goal type form as the No.1) and the two genuine medium forwards...Melk & Fritshkreig. -
Not a bad idea Pit. 18 units at a median valuation of approx $870,000 and median rental of 3.7% p.a. for Bentleigh (@ 30 June 2019). Approx $580,000 p.a. gross rental income. Take approx 1/3rd off to cover expenses and ongoing maintenance / repairs etc.... Approx Net rental of $383,000 p.a. The only trouble is there won't be much left once interest costs from loans are taken into account.

Jonno vs Tex as some here, particulary Rangey are wetting their pants over the posibility of getting the general. https://m.afl.com.au/stats/stats-pro#/Compare?playerIds=CD_I291821,CD_I280506&comparisonTab=h2h

The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
Demon Dynasty replied to olisik's topic in Melbourne Demons
He doesn't WWSW. Wants to finish as a one club player which is why he'll be staying. He may not have continued on otherwise. Regardless of whether you may want him to stay or go, as a Demon supporter you have to admire his love of and loyalty to the club. -

As much as you might want that to happen Jones is staying Moon. Hopefully he'll improve a little also assuming he gets a full pre-season in. -
Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)
Demon Dynasty replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
☝? this ... if he doesn't have it his sublime kicking skills at junior level might end up being run of the mill outside of Casey. Burst speed is something that's given Frosty the space / time to steady and improve his kicking efficiency slowly from approx 64% earlier in the year to approx 68% latterly (68% being roughly the AFL average but still below defenders' averages). -
The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Demon Dynasty replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
With the exception of the Swans match and a few cameos, Jones was a shell of his former self in terms of 'leading by example' captaincy anyway PO. Neither him nor Viney did much leading at all, including flying the flag or on field coaching/guidance/voice. Especially Viney. The mid season review, while initially looking like a potential circuit breaker, now appears to have fallen short of the mark. It failed to fix the off field FD issues but it also failed to fix the on field. And part of the on field lay with the very poor leadership. Big Maxy should have been elevated as an additional Co. imv. Externally we could have sold it as a reward for Maxy's great form early and an assist to Jones/Viney while they focused on regaining fitness / form, with both having only half the usual pre-season loading Internally a bit of the same but also a subtle shot across the bows of the two exisiting Captains. Regardless we have Big M to captain us next season. May might be handy as part of the leadership group also. I think we'll actually improve as long as Goody feels the same and makes the move. He would basically be committing himself to the hangman's noose career wise if he doesn't. -
Like the idea. Langdon and Smith on both wings seems like a big improvement to me. Our overweight mid stocks need outside balance and incentive to get the ball wide to players in space instead of so many clustering on the inner rim and attracting more tackles / heat and subsequently more turnovers. Getting the inside / outside balance right and giving incentives to the likes of Clarry & Viney to look outside as their first option and training/drilling this into them. Going to be a hard habit to break but to fix our woes with some of these insane inside hand balls, sometimes to a phantom player that isn't there or straight to the opp, this is a must fix for Goody & the FD if we are to become a regular winning unit. What are we going to have to give to get though? Smith & Langdon could be an awesome circuit breaker that sees us go from a reasonable bounce back in 2020 to a potential finals contender again. We certainly don't want another rediculous 'overs for Lever' situation but would also not want to miss out if it means throwing in a steak knife or two. Clarko just might be willing to barter a little more kindly also, given the Lewis legacy, the compliments Lewis gave the club and the way we went out of our way to involve the Hawks in his final pressor/send off.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Demon Dynasty replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't mind this STM but imv whoever you are targeting for the leadership/experience qualities still needs to bring something major to the team on field other than just experience / leadership. An X factor where he can potentially turn a game if you like. Unless we are moving one of our inside mids on i'd be reluctant to go after Higgins. He is also coming from a failed club over the last two decades. Subject to being up for the challenge and truly wanting it i would much rather Smith. Fills an outside hole that needs filling and brings more of the Hawk's (Clarko) winning attitude, experience and methods (training standards etc) with him. Can finish in front of the sticks on his day also. We need to bring in more goal kicking power big time. -
Gil Tse-Tung will more than likely kill off that last little sweetener NS.

List changes who do we cut, trade or go after.
Demon Dynasty replied to samcantstandya's topic in Melbourne Demons
Brilliant ummm .... have you been on the turps D11? He had some moments early and the occasional cameos later on. At other times he looked out of his depth as you would expect at his stage. But your second para is on. Unless rookies are dominating and leap froging mature or veteran playes ( subject to length of injury list) young players like Spargo, in their first two to three seasons, should be spending the majority of their time downstairs learning/refining their craft and team rules etc. Too early to make a call but also shouldn't be getting as many games as he has either until/unless he is kicking the door down. Our list does need a much bigger broom than what we've seen so far though if we are to avoid another disaster like this season. -

MFC Top 10 highlights 2019
Demon Dynasty replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Without question it was SWYL & Drysdale's biff a few days ago! Always hard to top Goodwin's pressors but there was more anger, passion and a gnashing of teeth than i saw on the field or off it! Well done boys. Keep up the good work ? -
Small forwards - what are our trading and draft options?
Demon Dynasty replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
Why not clear the decks of the dead wood and draft two or three!!?? One an outside mid if there's any out there. We are bereft of speed, class and X Factor and have way too many NQR ploddy depth players dragging us down every season as soon as a few injuries (or more) strike. -
The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
Demon Dynasty replied to olisik's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks. Well that's not so good then eh. If some clubs are making a tiny bit of noise (and that's all most will do as they're all on the massive gravy train and s$%t scared of upsetting Gil Tse-Tung) then what better week to make the announcement than GF week when most of the media will be focussed on more pressing matters. -
The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
Demon Dynasty replied to olisik's topic in Melbourne Demons
Two days after he predicted the announcement and no news. The club went in and hopefully pleaded our case. If they did a good job that should have scared the living bejesus outta Gil & Co. No way they would want another GC bleeding them dry or that would impact on their ability to stop GC bleeding them dry. No news is potentially good news and as the days roll by more than likely we will get to keep pick 2. -
That might depend on what we get in return though LH. You don't think he'd be keen to join his bro at some point prior to contract ending? People's feelings/views can change on a dime sometimes, let alone over an entire season.

One of our two major sponsors already signed up again (allegedly). One to go.

SF i'm not a big fan of Barrett either but a little more respect would be nice when responding to him please. He does wear specs after all. -
So you're telling me Cameron's a chance!
