  1. I would be surprised if that didn't come about via his years under Clarkson LH. Minimum Team/Individual Standards! Which are applied and adhered (fairly) to all.
  2. I think you'll find that probably only applied as the data was capturing teams that had a forward line that could convert at a rate that wasn't a mile off the rest of the comp 29. We are, more than likely, an outlier. I don't have the conversion rankings but we would have to be close to rock bottom. The easiest available stat for 2019 is team/opp average goal differential where we are sitting 2nd last on -3.2. GC last on -6.2
  3. I think it's not that they don't necessarily want to Kent. My gut feel is it's been ingrained into them from junior ranks then into the next level before getting into the AFL system. Oliver, Viney and up until this year Jones. See ball get ball. A very hard habbit to break even IF they're being instructed to (?). Others who might be marginally less inclined - Brayshaw, Tracc and possibly Harmes. Salem about the only one of these who seems to covet the outside with more habit/ease. Personally i doubt many can make the transition successfully and then, most importantly, finish off their good work. Tracc a maybe. Brayshaw as well once Viney came back last year but his disposal is super ordinary. In the end BB29 is heading in the right direction. Some will need to be dangled as bait for genuine outsiders. And don't kid yourself, we need two of them. I don't think one will cut it given the state of our list.
  4. Narkle has my vote You have my vote RM. Would happily free up any of ANB, Jeffy (age & disinterested), Spargo, Stretch, O-Mac, Weid and Jwag if it meant fitting him in. Kid can play and has a bit of X factor about him also.
  5. I was a tad hesitant at first Wise ... but why not. Anything for Cameron!
  6. That is true D11. They are in a conundrum with the Grundy deal as it is and the flow on from that likely to hit them elsewhere. That gives me.more confidence on Tracc staying. We should also consider the Elliot option and free up our two younger tall forwards if needed to get him and Cameron in for 2020. Cameron is pie in the sky and not due till next year but it does have a nice ring to it on paper. F: Elliot Cameron Lockhart/Chandler/? HF: Fritschkreig T-Mac Melk
  7. I would be more worried about the Pies snatching him than the Cats but let's hope he is happy to at least see out his contract. Obviously 2020 is looming as a massive year for the entire club. An improvement is expected but a bigger one would help even more with out of contract negotiations in situations like this one. In many ways we need to land a big fish (or two!) in the trade and end the year on a strong positive. A big list cull of NQRs and a few new marquee players coming in might be just the tonic and see us going in to 2020 with a touch more positivity and excitement. Time to go on a spending spree me thinks.
  8. I have no idea what you said before that bolded part Bin but if it resulted in that outcome i'd be ecstatic! Send it to Mahoney.
  9. At least we're keeping someone in a job MR...
  10. Haha sorry uncle. All in good jest. I thought the same yesterday! As for footy teams dw, i know the feeling all too well! As dedicated minions being flogged on a regular basis is something we appear destined to endure.
  11. Couldn't agree more with the gist and bulk of that GWD ...but... in addition we are in desperate need of a strong mobile contested marking beast who can finish with reasonable accuracy (Jenkins would not be on my 250km radar!). T-Mac would be my only 'lock' into 2020. The spine needs a genuine KF beast and we failed to replace a mobile / roaming HHF contested marking / intercept one in Hogan. And Lucifer forbid....'What if' Tommy went down with a similar injury in pre-season or first few rounds next year!?? It's no coincidence we haven't been an occasional finals contender since Neita retired. If wishes were horses!
  12. That is correct ....and a retirement village for the maturing and semi-retired. We are over a barrel copping it from both ends courtesy of Gil Tse-Tung, others before him and a fair contribution by ourselves over many decades.
  13. Clarry: Def room for improvement and much to learn going forward but would have been in had he had a few other top liners around him other than Big M. Harmes the next best but still a fair way off those two. Statistically Clarry was our No.1 player this year and last.
  14. Player / Team Stats Form Guide (Composite Weighted Averages) Season 2019 vs Season 2018 Here you go fellow minions. The year that wasn't! Only eight players either improved from last season or kept within 5% (not a major difference IMV)... Frost the most improved and biggest gain up an amazing 25.7%. The only others who clocked up a positive...Harmes, Hunt and Stretch. Those within 5% ... Salem, Weid, Big M & JWags. The overall team average score down 14.25% on season 2018! The year was that bad that some improved their ranking on last year while still going backwards (statistically). That does not necessarily equate to a poor or negative year in all cases as some may have been played out of position (eg., Fritschkreig) for the bulk of the season or asked to carry out a completely different role vs 2018. ie., Less stats accumulated but still carrying out the role effectively from a team POV (run with / lock down / time spent in the ruck when not usually expected etc). Nonetheless a bog ordinary year...Roll on 2020! Note: If you add approx 0.80 for hit outs to advantage for big Maxy this would have him sitting in 2nd.
  15. Stretch is interesting Earl. Most of the other weighted score results (not always but mostly) tend to fit in somewhat with what i see on the day. Is Stretch an outlier or maybe negative bias from myself / others? In game (watching), i don't see him having much of an impact but might be the pre-determined bias on my part. Maybe he's changing/improving (or has already improved) but from past experience (not this match) the impression he's given is that he's getting to a fair few balls but mostly dishing off to just about anyone, especially lateral, as his first go to. Plenty of uncontested that's for sure and the delivery is no doubt first class but how much risk is involved in those disposals if they are going to players in non-damaging places and/or they're about to get pole axed shortly after receiving? Does he take on the game in other ways that you would expect from a mostly 'outside' player? Line breaking run? Looking up field as first priority in traffic and taking the risk trying to get it to a loose player or to his favoured side with a 45 kick through traffic (better from a team's POV)? Maybe i'm seeing things and right off the money and the stats are capturing the more accurate story of improvement. Wouldn't be the first time. And this is where stats are handy as it does make you question and review potential biases that might be ingrained. Would need to watch the match again to see whether there's any validity in that impression from his match y'day. Do i have the time or desire....ummm... nup. Although an old Norf mate is coming over this arvo for a few frothies. If he insists on watching the replay (lives OS and just visiting) then i might. Maybe others would like to add something if they watched his game a little closer.
  16. 6. Captain Gawn 5. Viney - might have found a niche, keeping in mind Cunny is slooow too. 4. Fritschkreig almost a blitzkreig! 3. Frosty quite a show on Bob 2. Tracc VG in splutters & spurts 1. Clarry (hoping he starts looking beyond his immediate vision / circle as first option & clear to outside ball users more often in 2020) HM to Harmes...worked his butt off and one of the few effective two way running mids. Demerit points for the inexplicable stops and props that may have cost us a shot or two at winning the game.
  17. Player / Team Stats - Weighted Composite Score Rnd 23, 2019 - Roos vs Demons (Blundstone) # Hit outs to advantage not accounted for Tracc's best games for the year (statistically). Big Maxy's equal best. He put this same weighted score up on QB against Grundy! Over 200 SC points in this game which i can't say i've seen anyone score, let alone a Demon. To put that in some perspective he scored 99 SC points vs Grundy in Rnd 21, Grundy 86. On QB Maxy scored 153 SC points, Grundy 84. Big M has clearly taken the honors over Grundy both times this year. That was some performance from the big guy today. A quick summary... Maxy - 18 Effectives @ 69.2%, 4 Contested Marks, 10 Clearances, 5 inside 50s, 12 Score Involvements, 5 Interceptions and 3 Goals. Tracc - 22 Effectives @ 88%, 7 Clearances, 7 tackles and 10 Score Involvements.
  18. My mail tells me he is committed and going nowhere 36. Wants to finish as a one club player.
  19. Postive from today.... almost 3 quarters of better ball movement/accuracy from more players....in the game. Until the last where our energy /tank ran out? Skills dropped off a cliff and we reverted back to chaos crash bash style ...and lost.
  20. Yes but more than likely at another club...somewhere.
  21. Hunt's panic handball to Norf's favour & Jones' kick not long after. So many flawed footballers it's almost impossible to beat anyone. CLEAN HALF THIS LIST OUT and start over!
