Yeh they dont appear to recognise many Casey players apart from White, Chandler & Bell, even those getting multiple possessions within a short space of time.
-
You forgot good ol' Spargoat. Heard we are gonna trial him in a back up ruck role. You know, similar to Bolton of the Tiges.
-
Back to the country league for these three. Or maybe...should've gone to Spec Savers!?
-
They had 6 free kicks at about the 8 minute mark of the fourth quarter. That's barely 1.5 frees a quarter to that point. Would have to be some sort of all time low number? The amount of 10 - 12 meter kicks that were allowed as marks was astoundingly poor judgement from too many of the officials tonight. If they got a third wrong i would understand. Had to be at least half this evening. At one stage, with no eyes on the ball until after initial contact, Cripps ran straight at Ryder in the ruck on the edge of the Saintsl's goal square. A clear block a la Tommy Hawkins at his worst in the ruck but the ump just called play on. And what was that goal line review. Two umps watching, one on either side, and neither could see that the ball clearly went over or the post was touched with the other hand? And the McKay free late in the last as Mr Leg has mentioned!?? As Brian would say in his grating whine...Wowee! There were some patches where i thought it was great to see the whistle put away but unfortunately any good work was short lived by being over officious or just poor calls, mostly against the Aints.

Taking no chances. Wrapping the up & coming super star in cotton wool

What a disgraceful performance it was. Even in the dying seconds they managed to find a 50!

Just missing a club...

Sean Wight. What can be said that hasn't already been said. I will just say that this bloke was possibly among the toughest 'at the ball' players i've ever witnessed live for the MFC. As mentioned he had no fear for his own safety and went where only eagles dared in marking, spoiling and loose ball contests. Pretty sure he helped us win the 87 night final against Essendrug by going or playing forward for a large part of the match, taking a few contested marks and kicking a few goals. He was also one of the big early 'third man up' exponents. Would hate to think of the meters gained from his punches forward towards the boundary with another throw in ensuing.

Yeh chops & changes far too much, often to his own detriment.

Clarry had that something special in him from the first time he put his toe in the water on the G. Up there with my all time Favs. Love watching him play and the joy with which he plays. Continuing on in the footsteps of the Demon spirits of the past, touch wood, he looks like joining them and possibly even surpassing some to become one of our all time greats. The Ron Barassi of our time!!?? Congrats to Clarry & the club. Fabulous news.

Say two x 2.5 mill terraces somewhere ...0.75% RBA increase on 80% of that is only about $30k more than last year (so far) Beer n chips money for Jacko And with a slight tweak to his contract we could cover another 0.75% RBA slug for later this year quite easily for a bit of forward protection Alot less if those two properties are somewhere near Casey

One thing i noticed about the training facility at Casey is that there appears to be an indoor section specifically dedicated to kicking skills. Including possibly shooting for goal? I believe Choco has a fair role to play with this given his kicking academy background. All of that is nothing new to most i'm sure but i just wonder whether too much 'indoor' training in a 'protected' facility doesn't translate too well once the reality of all the outdoor stuff & weather comes into play? Probably nothing in it but just putting it out there.

Yes for example i note that a man named Uncle racked up at least one frothy in the pre-game warm up. All in the name of a good cause of course.
-
Also burned Viney badly coming inside 50 at one stage. I recall one or two other red veil moments that need cleaning up. Nice goal down the Punt Rd end though.
-
It might also toughen him up at the contest a little. He's a fine young fella in the open but i reckon this just might be the making of him if he's going to take the next step with the old white line fever and getting rid of the nice guy side a little. I'm all in with others here in terms of keeping Sam in for as long as it takes to get Max cherry ripe coming in to Sept. Might be a nice win win for both players and the team.
-
The lure home might be strong though. Look at Hogan. Can someone on the social scene match him up with a top shelf GF in Melb if he hasn't got one already 😂 On the last point... Does his manager point stuff like this out to him though? Doubt he'd be thinking about all of these aspects.

So far the FD is preferring BB to Weid (as the stay at home forward) when Max is playing Ham

There's some merit in this LN. The problem is we've tried to go with Mitch for Macca and that hasn't worked. So without Mitch and Macca who would you propose comes in for BB (as a KTF) if we wanted to spell him at Casey? This comes back to the fact that we are lacking a genuine KTF option right at this moment who can perform at AFL level outside of Macca. And who knows if Macca will go on past this season (other than maybe Macca). All points to us needing to recruit a genuine bull / pack marking KTF for 2023 who's going to be a multiple goal kicker/threat from pretty much any position around the 50.
-
Our best result/match for the season and the GF and we are wondering if it's workable or not? The resting CHF of two of Gawn/Weid/LJ plus BBB at FF is plenty tall enough IMV, provided the way we bring it inside 50 is smart more often than not eg; not biased towards bombing or dropping the ball on top of the oppo's talls. We don't always have to score via the big men getting their hands on it as we saw with some of the ground level goals on Thurs night from the likes of Kozzy, Bedford, Harmes & Spargoat.
-
Thanks for the feedback guys. There is also this old confirmation of scores being included in the score involvement stat from a 2016 post by this (now defunct?) Figuring Footy site... https://www.figuringfooty.com/2016/11/21/your-clubs-most-important-avenue-to-goal-score-involvements-in-2016/ So assuming the above is correct this leads to my next point... As i've been including 'score involvements' as part of a player's weighted averages score, which ultimately also lands in the overall team score, it would appear i should switch the score involvements data out (in future) and replace with the goal assist stat which does not double count yes? The score assist stat might be a better option also but that is not available on the Footywire stats site that i use for data on these tables nor any other publicly available 'AFL stat' site that i'm aware of.

I doubt he'll be going anywhere SY. An extension for two to three i'd think. Stranger things have happened though.
-
SY didn't say he's 'not' leaving as far as i interpreted his post LN. Pretty sure he was saying that Thurs night's performance goes some way to cementing him (LJ) at the Demons and harder for him to leave given the likelihood of further top of the table success.
-
Mates 'should' stick together SY. Doesn't always end that way unfortunately. Not inferring anything re LJ either....just speaking from experience.
-
Was hoping he would get a look in with Max out. Showed some real promise and played some very good games while at North. Great that the club gave him this chance and hope he isn't completely lost to the club & game.
