Lovely steal by Steele in congestion there

JVR coming into the match takes a nice contested from a Hibb kick inside 50. Misses from a tight angle

For who though Chook? Dunstan is more likely for Harmes. Getting a fair bit of it so far. Needs to clean up the disposal somewhat

PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Sydney
Hope Goody opens his eyes somewhat and makes a few hard calls. That was a brutally bad performance from far too many. A warning shot is needed and it needs to be this week in my opp. At the same time you don't want to hit the panic button just yet either. I expect Goody might go one more round with T-Mac on the G this week. Schache is a highly likely possibility for Max as long as he shows something today. If Schache manages to hold down this spot at senior level (should he get the call up) we are then talking a mostly forward role if, fingers crossed, Max is ok and returns in a few weeks. Bare minimum Harmes & Melk simply have to make way for any half decent form from Dunstan & JVR this arvo. Only an ordinary performance should see them not comimg under serious consideration imv. Better hope Maysy is fit to take on Buddy. I can't see anyone else going with him (with much effect) on the day. Hopefully Hibb has a good hit out also. Would be my first choice to take on Paps if he's in fine fettle today.

Maybe a good old fishing trip romp with the boys afterwards Dl4? Consider yourself lucky it's only after a loss. My lil storm cloud goes there a few times a day whether we play or not (win, lose or draw!) ....

Nice jack ty. We've got some interesting additional talls this season but have lost two handy smalls (in affect) in Chandler & Bedford. Hopefully Moniz can start to ramp things up and there's also Bill. Add to that some of the Casey boys in Grey, Munro, Steele in the small/medium mix. Probably one or two others that i've overlooked

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Footscray
Lovely stuff thanks Tarax This club still has some learnings ahead, especially with the utilisation of Casey as a lead in to the big league for the big boys coming in cold. Viney a great example last night. Could not have been more under-done or out of form. Dunstan for Harmes depending on how he goes today. Schache (boy thats a spelling doozy) for Max if he performs? JVR should be straight in for Melk on any reasonable result.

So we subbed Max out and got Melk Melk virtually unsighted so that's two players down on the night from the get go. Add to that the mares of Petty, Harmes, Gus, Viney & T-Mac. Add to that the mares of Clarry and Tracc in the first half. No Kozzy So basically the team was running on a total of about 9 players for a fair chunk of the night. No wonder we were pantsed for 3.5 quarters

I think he was telling them to take no notice of the comments he made about the bump the week before. ..."Boys i want you to bump, block, scrap and fight for every possession like your life depended on it. Pretend i never said that as it's complete carp...now get out there next week and play like Demons!" 🙄

Possibly the the best summary of a performance i've seen on DL Couldn't agree more but the form of T-Mac is a little concerning. He's been trailing his opponent to the drop of most contests, even those higher up the ground, the last two matches. JVR should come in for Melk after that performance. He barely touched the pill or an opponent with 70% game time.

At this point he is ahead Neitas i would think. I would also be seriously looking at Wowie's performance at Casey over the next few weeks as a potential debutant. I love Harmes but he may need a spell if he puts in another shocker like tonight against the Swans (if he retains his spot)

Stats Files - 2023
Round 2, 2023 GABBA - Lions vs Demons Would you believe Grundy had a massive 45 hit outs...would love to know how many of those were to our advantage. A number of players here had decent scores but it always comes back to what they did with their ball use and finish on the night. And i suspect most of the boys were well off their best and stats also don't record fumbles. And boy did we fumble alot tonight. Some indication of how far off this performance was is shown by the team score which is a weighted average of the top 22 rated players. 16% lower than against the Dogs and 13.5% worse than our 2022 season average. It's only one match but that's some seriously poor numbers in anyone's language. POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs Brisbane
The four pillars that make the engine humm and help others to contribute were all off (or not present tonight)... Maxy May Tracc Clarry To be -14 in contested and -20 in clearances at half time says it all. To be pantsed in the first half by a mediocre away team and flat track Gabba bully Is a real worry.

So Langdon has an open goal to shoot at and all the time in the world and instead decides to kick it to the shortest guy in the team who's behind two tall Brissy defenders lol. Tracc could also have taken a shot but decided to hand off instead. Clarry another blind short tumble punt inside 50 to a Brissy player leading Melk to the ball Woweee!
