The other thing about the Blues... just their general pressure. Bog ordinary all night without the pill. Would love to have seen the pressure acts count and the pressure ratings during parts of that game. 7 might've shown the ratings... might have missed it. The crows look good, especially with Tex / Fogarty being allowed to get so many one v ones (the Blues don't drop off and assist very well or often!). The Crows were also allowed to prance out of mid field alot under very low pressure hitting leads at will far too often. Crow's defence is also pretty leaky for mine.

2023 Injury List
Lever out is a real bugger. Our backline uaually struggles without one of wither him or May not playing. Tomo in to replace but he's not like for like. It"s a pitty Disco wasn't up & about as he may have been in the mix to replace if he had some games under his belt & in decent form.

Blues defence 😬 Zone working well 🙄 Two way running / general effort 🤔 Selfless acts / Team first ethos 😵💫 No genuine (damaging) ruckman Bit of a dog's breakfast really but apparently they're top 4 material (or better!) if you believe half of the media hype.

Hilarious stuff from Dwayne I take whatever is said on SEN, 7 etc with a grain of salt. They're all beholden to their masters and the mega broadcasting contracts / $$ on offer. Tow the AFL line, always push / promote the big clubs (by number of members) and don't rock any boats! Very much a directed and muzzled bunch now. Anyone that speaks their mind is at risk. I wonder if Cooney's spot on 'Armchair Experts' is at risk after speaking his mind about concussion on that d'[censored] reality show lately (no i didn't watch it...saw him on a promo). Don't think Gil would've been too happy.- Trent Rivers Re-Signs until 2027
Great news. Important to keep as many premiership players still in their prime on the list. Next up Kozzy within approx two weeks- PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon

A few posters have been to spec savers and a few might need to go. Statistically speaking he was our 2nd highest rated forward on Sunday behind Macca and apart from missing a few gettables he was in our top 10 rated players (ranked 8th) on the day. Easily in our top 5 based on averages so far this season. Roughly equal 4th with Reg Grundee.- Free Kick Differential 2023

Good song. Viney might start his own band after zero votes... Viney's Vitriol! First big hit... "No Votes Today"- Training Ground?
If we go the Caulfield option we might even get a kick starter out of Diamond Joe and some of his business buddies. A bit of loose change... say $25 mill !- Training Ground?
Good luck getting it from normal lending channels. Ppl i talk to on the gravy train say their usual business lending book has been cut by 50% (so far!) under instruction from the top brass. Credit squeeze is on- COACHES VOTES: Rd 04 2023

Yes no arguments from me on the role play sit. Especially that of 2021! There's so much we arent privy to with role play/fitness/loads etc... Anything we.discuss is mostly pure speculation in most cases yes?? 😂 It's too early to be making calls on any player's form anyway imv. Sometimes their form can turn around in one week as we saw with Viney against WC and they're off to the races with everyone quickly forgetting about a few early season (seemingly) out-of-character performances (whether marginal or otherwise).- POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs West Coast
Tentative in a physical contact/tackling sense maybe? Tackle average down 40% on 2021 (3.68 to 2.19) Looking at meters gained (average) he was up a massive 80% on 2021 though with 410 (2022) vs 227 (2021). Extra meters gained might also be a product of role being asked and/or ground position (kick ins from the square/lateral kicks around the back)? Seemed to play in the defensive 50 a fair bit more during 2022 and potentially a fair degree less down the attacking end.. Average Rebounds 2021 0.36 2022 5.57 Inside 50s 2021 2.59 2022 2.14 Goals (accuracy might have been off though...would need to check shots at goal!) 2021 1.59 2022 0.10- POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs West Coast
His turnover average (so far) is down 35% on last season's average. Meters gained (-40%) & inside 50s (-66%) also substantially down though. Not a big clearance role/player but marginally down here also (-24%) Slight change of role or maybe going lateral / backwards a bit more? FWIW... tackles (+8%) and score involvements (+11%) marginally up. Whatever that means.- Stats Files - 2023

OK so this could be a bit deceiving NC, depending on what one person might see as the more important key indicators (from vanilla publicly available footy stats anyway). The table below shows Gus's season averages so far vs those from his entire 2022 season. There is certainly a substantial drop off in certain stats that go towards his weighted rating (2022 & 2023), however some of them were off a very low base in the 2022 season. This means their contribution to the 2022 weighted rating was already fairly insignificant. Hence the % drop off may seem quite substantial (in a percentage sense) but its impact on the rating number isn't as dramatic as might be expected. His 2023 rating is also propped up somewhat by some factors such as tackles and score involvements being up, plus turnovers being down substantially vs 2022. Caveat though... although turnovers are well down, this might also be a factor of his dropping away in key areas (for Gus) like clearances, rebounds and inside 50s. In general it would seem he is just not getting on the receiving end 'as much' as he was in 2022 (two way running/work rate off a little?). The meters gained drop off is also concerning! Again work rate or maybe not as attacking in his general play / method as he was in 2022? Going lateral / backwards a little more etc? Early days though with only 4 matches of data to go on. So no point crucifying him at this stage imv as he has plenty of credits and more than enough time to start turning some of the not-so-good things around. In summary i would say those rating his season as a bit off (so far) are, in the main, on the money....but it is early days! I'm sure Gus & those involved with him inside the four walls will also be well aware of some of these numbers (in a real game 'involvement/output/impact' sense... not so much a numbers sense!). I'm sure he'll crank things up over the coming weeks. Not panic stations by any means but he's certainly got a bit of work ahead if he's to get back to somewhere near his 2022 / 2021 form/groove.
