  1. Another overlooked against Smith just then. Ye olde AFL "different rules for different folk" trick
  2. Picket is silky once he gets on the move. Nice decision maker also
  3. Round 8, 2023 HBS - Suns vs Demons Back from a brief getaway guys hence the delay on this. A nice dose of covid for my troubles on the second last day courtesy of ye olde floating petri dish. Didn't get a chance to see this match so any comments this week are purely from a stats perspective only. First up... our worst Team Rating for the season so far after having our best the week before, albeit against the lowly ranked Kangas. Is this something to do with how good GC were or did we have a bit of an off day? Maybe a bit of both? Clarry regains his No. 1 rating in this match after being pipped by Viney & Tracc in the previous two matches. After having a few off games (statistically only, may still have played his role nicely etc) in Rnd 3 vs the Swans & Rnd 5 vs the Bombers, Gus has bounced back in his last three matches with top 10 rankings (top 5 the last two weeks!). Of note is Max's results in the last two weeks. While still a fair way off his best it's certainly a step up from his expected 'tentative' return from injury against the Tigers where he notched up a very low 1.500 Conversely, May had his worst rating result for the season with a miserly 1.150 That rating is low for anyone let alone May. Wonder what's going on here? If it's an ongoing niggle should we have managed him this week against the Hawks? Sparrow just pipping Tracc! Fritsch an all time howler? Focussing on Clarry he had.... 22 effectives @ 78%, one 1%er, 6 clearances, 1 rebound, 5 inside 50s, 4 tackles, 9 score involvements (the most of either team on the night), 6 intercepts, 449 meters gained and 5 turnovers. Top 5 meters gained.... Tracc 527, Hunter 474, Clarry 449, Brayshaw & Viney on 371 a piece. Atkins from GC the best on the night with 637. Player Rating Rank C Oliver 5.175 1 A Brayshaw 4.475 2 Tom Sparrow 4.075 3 C Petracca 4.025 4 Jake Bowey 3.750 5 Max Gawn # 3.475 6 L Hunter 3.150 7 J Jordon 3.100 8 J McVee 3.050 9 Jack Viney 2.825 10 K Pickett 2.700 11 Trent Rivers 2.575 12 K Chandler 1.950 13 J V Rooyen # 1.750 14 Jake Lever 1.700 15 A N-Bullen 1.675 16 H Petty # 1.625 17 Ed Langdon 1.400 18 B Grundy # 1.350 19 Steven May 1.150 20 D Turner < 74% 1.075 21 J Harmes > 18% 1.050 22 B Fritsch 0.400 23 Team Score 57.10 Top 6 24.98 Bottom 6 7.65 # Hit outs to advantage not counted < Subbed out / TOG % > Subbed in / TOG % Stats courtesy of footwire.com
  4. deever / Goffy....are you suggesting the Hawks are rotting from the inside here? Pls explain
  5. If the AFL keeps adjusting rules in an attempt to eliminate as much risk / exposure to litigation as possible DP the game as we know it will be unrecognisable at some point. And if that is their ultimate agenda going forward they might need to consider going back to AFL X or a variant thereof and disband the present game. Of course we all know how well the X experiment went last time. A resounding success! Well at least for us anyway 😄
  6. Personally i don't think they'll change it. I reckon they just tried to make it up as they went along using us (Joey) as the whipping boy. Hoping we would roll over and / or the Board would follow their lead in lock step. The idea being to use us as one example / demonstration of how seriously they're now taking their OH&S for potential concussion / injury law suits / claims down the track. Our response as a club was first rate. We stood our ground and finally had the balls to call this chirade out for what it was. .."Feel free to try your shenanigans on someone else if you wish. Oh, and close the door on your way out!"
  7. May i say, some handy feedback & LEG work Read the tea leaves well 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
  8. Thank Lucifer We have now moved up the pecking order somewhat. At least the Appeal Board showed it is willing to act independently and saw this nonsense verdict and Wood's case for what it was. And as for Woods....
  9. Two down but can't sway the third Mr Leg? It needs to be a unanimous decision yes?
  10. We are still deliberating. I wish I was joking
  11. We are still deliberating. This will begin to edge into Cripps levels if they're not careful.
  12. Only if it's anonymous!
  13. Maybe a 2 down to 1 outcome at best
  14. Board can't come to an unanimous decision... CASE DISMISSED!!
  15. They have to 'appear' to be giving it serious consideration, whether that is the case or not
  16. The Appeal Board is back and has no questions. The Appeal Board is NOW deliberating. It appears the Appeal Board has folded and will come back with a ruling in favor of the AFL. Assuming this.... they are now tainted with the AFL's "make it up as you go along" brush and as a club we can expect further unreasonable outcomes such as this in future but ONLY when/where it suits the AFL to do so. A similar occurrence with others (eg; Fogarty) will result in said player not even being sited, cleared even if he is or a minor slap on the wrist depending on the Player/Club in question. The circus rolls on!
  17. Houghton (Melbourne): This attempt to impose a regime of health and safety upon players when construing a rule like 18.5 is quite wrong. We are about to find out whether the appeal board has any skerrick of integrity and independence left.
  18. Showing the Brown vid is ok but wouldve liked to have seen Fogarty's more recent clobbering as well
  19. AFL (Woods) setting Joey up as the scapegoat fall guy with an OH&S overlay in that last statement
  20. He missed the most important part..... "Selective" risk mitigation. It is applied either more rigorously in some cases or alot less / not at all, depending on the player/club in question.
  21. The official media (at least those on the broadcast rights gravy train) are part of the circus Brownie, albeit a few are somewhat lower down the pecking order, hence they're able to speak a bit more of their mind on rare occasions. & ex-player uproar via social media chanels...doubt that even gets a mention inside the 4 walls. Can't see Joey getting off. At best maybe a reduction from 2 to 1 The ring masters won't like losing too much face and having their agenda completely quashed, seemingly in a trial by media. As is most things Barnum & Bailey, it's mostly about optics & looking after/growing the core parts of their brand (read Big 4 Melb Clubs, Geelong, interstaters & players they consider marquee or requiring special protection/treatment). There's always the Casey option which is sometimes a better day IMHO. Less of the AFL insanity/circus, more old school grass roots. Casey also a VG side of course, especially once moose comes back.
